I brought a Grand Seiko watch in that was losing a bit more time than it should. They serviced the watch in record time which was a bit suspect to me. I got the watch back and even though I asked for a polish (cap gold) that didn't seem to happen. I asked when they called for me to pick up the watch. The response was "I think he did what he could". Odd response it is gold it will polish beautifully but nope. Here is where it gets interesting. I wore the watch for about a week. I also wore a Chronoswiss on my other wrist. The Chronoswiss lost no time in a week. The Grand Seiko lost more than 20 min in a week after just being fully serviced at a very premium price. I called and again I got a less than friendly response and a "well bring it in and they will look at it and decide if they will do anything". Seriously? I paid for service and what I actually got was a cheap $8 watch band for $50 and a plastic crystal and they did nothing else to the watch. I did not want to drive an hour and a half to drop the watch off and it is in the opposite direction of work. This watch should be losing seconds in a week not a healthy part of an hour. I brought the watch to my local jeweler who sends them out to a watch maker. I got it back and sure enough it was not cleaned nor adjusted at all by Delman. I gave the jeweler instruction to get very specific feedback from the watch maker. I wanted to be sure it was not my fault like it got moisture in it since I wore it all week. He said it needed a good cleaning and proper lubrication, and he said there was no evidence of moisture. I just simply got taken or they are just incompetent. Either way I will not use them again. I am a collector and have watches serviced at least a dozen times a year. I have never been treated as rudely or had such poor results from a true watch maker in my life. I read through a few reviews as I was typing this. It seems like if you just have a quartz watch that needs a battery, they can do that and then you will leave 5 stars. That sort of also rings as unusual. Who leaves a review about a battery change? Know who else can change a watch battery the 16-year-old kid in the mall kiosk. If you are a watch collector and enthusiast and you know watches and their service, you will notice there is something not right here. They are rude from the start, and it goes downhill from there. I do not believe they are trained watch makers or they just are scammers. There is no other way to explain my experience that I can come up with. read more

Beware of this shop if you're not watch-savvy--they will take advantage of you. I took my watch here to get a couple of links removed, and I was quoted $35, which is unusually high (it typically costs $10-$20). The owner claimed it would be a difficult job and that I would have to leave the watch with them because it would take a while. An hour later, I came back to find it still being worked on. The owner seemed upset with me, cursing I was wasting his time and complained about rust inside the links, claiming he doesn't normally do this for people (keep in mind, this is a watch service business). He then upped the price to $50, which I regretfully paid. To make matters worse, they damaged one of the links during the process. I later took the watch to an official dealer to get it sized properly--they charged only $20, completed it in 5 minutes, and said there was absolutely no rust. I feel taken advantage of and left with a damaged bracelet. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Even subsequent to returning my timepiece when it stopped working after routine maintenance, under his warranty, it is now fast. A++ experience. Took my vintage Oyster Rolex to Rolex Boston boutique for first-time general cleaning and maintenance. Was quoted ~$1400. Paid 1/3 that at Delman. Then, my spouse had an emergency with their Oyster when it was ruined by sea water and rusted inside and out. I thought it was going to have to be thrown away. Took it to Rolex boutique again and was quote $5,300 for a 3-4 month overhaul. Brought it to Delman who made it like-new in 1 month for 2/3 the cost. Two experiences, both phenomenal. And they have an amazing selection of watches for sale. I will only go to them for service from now on and will be buying my new watch from them. They saved me $2000!!!!. My 16 year old Rolex stopped keeping time. I took it to the only authorized Rolex dealer in the state and it took them 3 weeks to get me a repair estimate of $2800. It wasn't sitting right with me, as they were saying that I needed a new crystal, hands and a new crown. And oh by the way, because Rolex no longer makes the crystal I have, I needed a new bezel. My family is a Rolex family and my father has one that is 40 years old that never had any repairs, and he is harder on this then I am. I did some research and landed at Delman. Long story short, the watch just needed a couple of weeks at the spa- a good cleaning and some shining. Total cost $600. $350 of that was for a special cleaning kit from Rolex. I learned an important lesson- " just because you have a luxury item, there are other places you can get it serviced- for example, just because you have a BMW, you don't need to bring it to a BMW dealer. I recently took my Tag Watch to Delman for repair. It came suggested by a friend of mine, who had their Rolex repaired at the new shop on Oaklawn Ave. I couldn't have been more impressed with the service received. When I stopped in on my way home from work one day, I was greeted by Elena. She was kind and offered me assistance immediately. I felt comfortable and at ease, unlike I have in past experiences in larger scale jewelers or repair shops. She offered me a very fair price to polish and clean the watch, as well as replace the battery. The shop itself is impressive and beautifully designed. I couldn't help to window shop while chatting with Elena. On my return to Delman Watch to pick up my watch, as a surprise for his birthday, I brought my husband's Movado for the same service. If you need work done on a high end mechanical watch, Fred is the only man for the job. I'm a watch collector and I gave him a seven year old, scratched up Rolex that had stopped working and in a matter of weeks he returned a repaired watch that looked as if it had just left the factory. He even insisted on pressure testing it in front of me so he could ensure I knew the watch passed. His quote for the repair was dead-on. I'm from the deep south where a handshake and looking a man in the eye is what it takes to seal a deal and Fred is cut from the same cloth. My 75 year old aunt went here because she believed the battery in her watch was dead. One of the employees took the watch into the back to access the battery. Upon return she quoted my aunt $45 for a battery replacement. My aunt thinking that was expensive took it to another watch shop to compare prices, only for the other shop to tell her that her watch didn't have a battery- it was solar powered. A few hours in the sun and the watch was good to go. This is super shady-- don't recommend going here. read more

I was very impressed with the folks who work here. I brought two watches in for new batteries and elected to stay and wait. The watchmaker was helping two women lay out the design for a customized Rolex and my lunch hour was running out. When I came back a few days later to pick them up I realized that one of the watch was running slow. They felt bad that I had waited the extra time and they told me I could bring in some other watches I owned and they would put the battery into a different one. Of course I come back and the only one it would fit in is also broken. I apologized to the watchmaker for having him do all this additional work for no reason and he told me to was no problem and that he would be happy to give me another battery free of charge for one of my working watches. It was really beyond of him to do that and I will definitely remember to give them my business when the need arises. read more

Recently I was in Cranston for the holidays, visiting my brother and his family -- being an architect, I've been in a lot of different scenarios that aren't ideal for a quality timepiece. That being said, I admit I didn't even see it coming when my 10 year-old nephew took my favorite Tag Heuer from my bedside table. When I found it next, let's just say it was pretty clear I would need someone who knew what they were doing to take a look at it. My brother suggested I try Delman Watch -- he hadn't been there personally, but he had mentioned he heard from a few different people that they came highly recommended. Upon first entering the store, I was immediately impressed by how upscale it was -- everything felt very high quality, and it was clear a lot of effort went into designing it. I was also quite impressed that both store-owners were present in the store. It soon became quite clear to me that Mr. Delman was an artisan, the sort of expert in his trade of which there are very few left. I immediately felt very comfortable trusting them with my Tag. Between the excellent customer service -- a genuinely delightful woman made conversation with me and gave me a tour of the store -- all I could think about when I left the store was what a shame it was that such professional and splendid service did not exist closer to where I lived. Delman Watch comes highly recommended from me, and I've already made plans to make that my first stop for my brother's birthday gift (a Tag, I think) when I return to the area in a few months. Brought in my Rolex President for a COR, clean oil regulate. Had it back in just a few days. My Rolex was a gift I received some 30 years ago. It had a "barked" band, all polished which I never really liked. He suggested that I let him give some of the band a satin finish so as to be more of a closer match to the factory original. It turned out GREAT! I received more compliments in the month after picking it up from Fred than I had the previous 30 years. And the COR was was perfect. I will never let anyone else touch my President but Fred. Go to see Fred, you will be glad you did. read more

Fred is not friendly what-soever. Yes he knows what is going on and how to fix watches, but always puts the blame on the customer for "wasting his time" and how he "has a lot of things to do". It is not the customer's fault that he cannot manage his own time, but when the customer gets a service, he expects that such repairmen will put in the 100% effort. read more

This guy put batteries in my girlfriends Gshock watch not even a year ago and I had to take it to another gentleman to get them replaced again already. He must have only changed one of the two batteries or used old used batteries. Upon getting her watch back it didn't line up rite which it did before Fred touched it. I had to go in there and get irate and loud for him to fix it. At first he said the watch was garbage and it should be replaced that it couldn't be fixed and he would put the old batteries back in and give me my money back. I said no just fix the watch. He became irate and told me I was looking for confrontation when all I wanted was the watch the way it was before he did what he did to it. He took it in the back and took the Japanese movement out and lined it up. But the batteries died not even a year later there supposed to last two years. Fred obviously didn't know about the simple reset ac button after the batteries are replaced which it states on the battery cover. If this guy couldn't barely fix a Gshock I wouldn't never entrust my Seiko Orange monster eco drive or victorinox black recon to him especially not the US marines watch my girlfriend got me as a gift or my Peugeot. I wouldn't give this guy a mickey mouse quartz watch to fix. I went to another gentleman at fine time and had two other watches serviced in minutes and he stated a lot of his customers had similar experiences with Fred Delman. Wouldn't ever go back to Fred with any of my 7 watches or my girlfriend and her 2 watches. This guy was rude and could barely fix a Casio Gshock the cheapest of my 7 watches. Please if you have a precious watch or anything expensive dont even let Fred Delman touch it look at his other reviews as well. read more

My 70 year old mother received a watch for Christmas that was purchased at Saltzman's Watch. She mistakenly brought the watch, along with the receipt to Delman's to be sized. The watch was too big for her wrist and needed a few links taken out. Instead of pointing out her mistake and sending her to the correct store a few miles away, Delman sized her watch for her and charged her $50.00 for less than 10 minutes work. If they would fleece a 70 year old grandmother what would they do with an expensive watch? I will never go to this store again. The staff is unethical and will do anything to make a buck. read more

Delman Watch Service is as good as it gets! Fred is great guy and very personable and the store is immaculate with a nice selection of new and pre-owned watches. He is also a master craftsman with watches. I just had my Baume & Mercier Capeland serviced and restored. This has been my everyday watch since it was new and had amassed quite a few scratches, including a big one on the bezel at 8:00 and a small nick on the bezel at 2:00 as well as numerous scratches on the bracelet. The watch is a combination of polished and brushed stainless steel and the few other places I had gone to look into service would only polish it. Fred said that it would not be a problem to do both so I decided to have it done as well as a full service on the movement. I just got the watch back a few days ago and I was amazed. It looks like it is brand new. the polished areas are polished and the brushed areas are brushed. All of the scratches are gone as is the nick in the bezel. It has also kept perfect time since I picked it up. I have a fair collection of Swiss watches ranging from Breitling to Ulysse Nardin and would not hesitate to bring any of them to Fred for service. I also had service performed recently on a Citizen Aqualand Duplex Titanium and was very satisfied. read more

Went in to Delmans today to have a battery replaced on 3 watches. Most other watch shops get no more than 7 bucks for this service and do it while you wait. O.K. so the guy was busy and I was told to come back in an hour. Went back to pick up the watches and was handed a bill for $40. Yup, that's right $40 for 3 watch batteries. What the hell, are the batteries 24 carat gold???????? TOTAL, TOTAL RIP OFF! I will never go back again. My fault. I should have asked at the counter when I dropped the watches off how much they charge to put batteries in. I can't imagine what this guy charges to repair a watch. read more

I took an Omega Seamaster in for repair and cleaning in December 2013. The stem had come out and the day date were out of snync. All repair parts were to be Omega parts and the repairs and cleaning was to be done. It took almost two months to get the repair done and the cost was quite high. Over the next year I had to bring the watch back four times because the original problems were never corrected and Mr Delman tired to explain this by saying I was winding the watch incorrectly - this is after I had been using the watch with out problem for over 40 years. I finally gave up and took the watch to another service shop. Their assessment was that little had been done to repair the watch by Mr Delman. I would not recommend Delman Watch Service to anyone. read more
