They had some "dresses" for sale and I picked one up and jokingly said is this a dress ( it was the size of a baby's bib) she was quick to declare YES IT IS in a sarcastic tone ( ok maybe my "joke" deserves that) I then asked if the store was for youth because at first glance the sizes looked so small. She again "NO" and stopped short of any other information about the store. OK then, wanna help me much? I moved a few racks over and saw a few things that could possibly fit my size 12 frame. I stopped myself from making a Purchase because the workers kept socializing with themselves instead of, I don't know..... point me to areas that has my size or try to help me find something. Ask me what I am looking for or just at minimum look like they were serious about helping customers and not just visiting with each other at work I left, they didn't even glance my way. I tried on a sweater that was originally $80 and on sale for $40, and I was considering buying it, but I checked the materials tag and realized that it was 40% acrylic, which is a low quality synthetic material that's not very breathable, so I didn't buy it. They only have one or two sizes / items of each style though, and they don't have additional sizes available in the back.

My sister, niece and I found such great pieces here. I got a sweater, silky top and a pair of jeans from the sale rack. My sister found multiple summer dresses and a couple of dresses for work. My 13 year old niece got a few dresses for summer parties. The two women working there that day were helpful and genuinely nice. Prices varied and were not over-priced for a boutique in my opinion.

There is an inconspicuous security guard chillin in the corner, so shoplifters beware. You will be busted. Also, for some strange reason I could not figure out, Exstaza smelled like fresh baked cookies. So weird! I think the security guard was chowing down but I couldn't locate any evidence. Exstaza has similar merchandise to Forever 21 and Strawberry. If you need party clothes or something trendy that you won't mind falling apart by the time your late night ends, you can get some great deals here. I liked a lot of the stuff I saw at Exstaza. Definitely some great colors and patterns but definitely not friendly to the post pubescent body. I made the mistake of buying a long sleeved wrap shirt in a size medium without trying it on. The shirt looked big enough and since it was adjustable I figured it would fit. Unfortunately, the sleeves near burst when I tried it on at home. I haven't passed on this shirt to someone smaller than me yet. I'm holding on to the dream that I might fit into it after a few more runs around Lake Merritt. Ah, who am I joking? I'm 28 and I've got a chest and curves. I am never going to fit into the shirt I bought at Exstaza (insert sad face here). Nevertheless, Exstaza is great for impulse buys and making you think you bought some cool duds in NYC. Will someone please notify me when Forever 31 opens?
