We come here every year for their pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving and they're always the BEST. We recently came to pick up some apple cider donuts to kick off the fall season. They were just okay, and didn't taste too fresh. Grocery - They have a typical grocery selection of fresh produce, with a few specialty items such as jams, baked goods, and fall-themed treats such as cookies, pies, and donuts. I'd recommend checking out their Cider Cafe for homemade apple cider - it's delicious :) Orchards - Pretty small, but you can still pick your own fresh apples, peaches, and berries. Covid - Due to Covid, the freshly baked good section is a bit lacking and underwhelming, completely the opposite to the pre-covid lines out the door. They also have an excellent butcher, cheese and coffee area along with normal staples. Every time I'm visiting NJ, I have to swing by DO for some of that cider and those donuts - it's worth the trip! read more

Delicious Orchards is definitely a fall destination especially on those Sundays you feel like going for a drive. The merchandise is all adorable and celebrates the season. They have prepared foods, such as salads, rice and vegetables, raw produce, nuts, groceries, cheeses, fish and a butcher section. You should come here for none of these things. The real reason you come here is for the pie. They have lots of delicious pies for about $13 each. Pecan is our favorite but we also like their coconut custard, apple and pumpkin. They brownies, doughnuts and breads freeze well. Everything here is super expensive. However, the pies are definitely worth it. They're not overpriced. The groceries are so I'd steer clear of them and just focus on the lies. Very crowded on weekends and a bit of a touristy feel. The parking lot is vast but congested so they usually have someone directing traffic. No dogs allowed inside. read more

For an indulgence to be enjoyed for the weekend, I stopped by Delicious Orchards and bought a "Cheese Ring". Note that I did take a photo, but accidentally deleted it, so apologies for that mistake. About 10"-12" in diameter, this "Cheese Ring" looked exactly like a cheese Danish. After eating a slice, the taste matched it's looks. The cheese portion was a solid rendition of the classic cheese Danish; a little bit unctuous with a notable cream cheese-like flavor. The white icing drizzled on top was good; matching the taste of most typical Danishes. Pastry portion had a nice mild buttery flavor, but honestly I would have welcomed a bit more richness to it. A solid pastry worth a try if you're already at Delicious Orchards, but it's nothing deserving of a specific trip. read more

I've been coming to this place for probably 50 years. It's changed a lot. The donuts are ok, the ones we had gotten looked like they had been out for a long time . A family member had sent some and really the fruit was sub par and the donuts don't last more than a day in the mail. The fruit used to be superior and now it's like every other place. My wife is from NJ and her Grandparents live in Colts Neck about 5 minutes from Delicious Orchards. I was blown away the first time I walked through a few years ago. Our family has since moved to NJ and we are about 1.5 hours away now, but it never stops us from visiting to pick up some amazing goodies. You can have your pick of delicious treats, fruits, vegetables, pasta, coffee, and ready to order items off the grill. My favorite area is the pastry section as soon as you walk in the doors. I am weak when it comes to cannoli's. Some amazing treats to try: homemade Dutch apple pie, apple cider donuts, chocolate chip cookies, cannoli's, chocolate tarts, pasta salad, and a pesto chicken panini from the outside grill. I am extremely excited to come back down for the winter to see the orchard glowing in white. There are shirts and hats for sale as well. I purchased a shirt 2 years ago and it is still my favorite shirt and still in great condition :). read more

Delicious Orchards is dangerous, especially since you must walk into the bakery within your first 10 steps. That means you must pass all the donuts, cookies, cakes, pies, and breads. Oh My! It does get busy, but everything is spaced out nicely as it is a large location. The parking lot has plenty of room as well. The selection is immense, and everything is fresh from the meat counter to the produce. They do have frozen items as well and some samplers to try. We like to purchase fresh fruit and veggies and sneak in some snacks as well. There is a jarred lemon curd that tastes just like a lemon meringue pie. The large cream puff is LARGE, the cream is fresh and light. It is not sweet which makes it very easy to eat. The chocolate and coffee section has plenty to choose from and the smells are delightful. We don't shop there often or use it as a primary shopping location, but I can see that some people may, it has literally everything and more that you may need or want. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Don't forget the apple cider slush for your drive home! read more

In a word....disappointed. We've shopped here many times. While my wife gathers all kind of treats, I'll often go to the grill and get us lunch. Today was no different. But, when we got back to the car and opened the containers with our hot dogs, we found the meat sitting on top of stale rolls. Shocking. Impressive array of produce, a large bakery area -- this store reminded me a bit of Stew Leonard's back in Connecticut. Lots of Free samples, the Apple Cider is very tasty ! The only reason I'm giving it 4 Stars instead of 5 Star is PRICE -- everything here is very expensive. If you are seeking a unique item that you can't get anywhere else, then by all means, buy it here. But for average run-of-the-mill stuff, I'd buy it for half price elsewhere. I imagine that most people living in the immediate area are pretty well off, so prices don't concern them much. Struck out on a busy day. I never had a bad experience at DO, but went this past Saturday and although a long line to get in, it moved quickly. Being Fall, we got the Apple cider donuts (both styles), cider,and apple ring and some cookies and brownies. The donuts had zero flavor to them... not even a hint of Apple cider. The actual cider wasn't as good as normal either, maybe watered down? And the Apple ring was plain with a few thin apple slices on top of the ring on one side. Have gone to DO for more than 30 yrs. Not a regular grocery shopper, but more specialty items, however have always found their produce to be far better than shop rite. We love their apple tart from the pie section. While I've watched the price rise significantly in recent times, it was still worth it since we enjoy it so much. Picked one up today. DO, what did you change?? It is not the same taste which used to make you want seconds. The crumbs on top are definitely different. What happened to the piled up apples on top?? This place used to be candy land to me as a child, now as an adult, it has not lost it's magic! Delicious Orchards originated as a roadside apple stand in the late 1950s, and is now probably one of the largest farmers markets I can think of in New Jersey. All of their fruits and vegetables are organic and grown locally. You can also go apple, peach, blueberry, or strawberry picking depending on the season right on the farm! Delicious Orchards is probably best known for their pies... as they should be! All pies are baked on premises, and can only be described as a slice of heaven!!! My favorites have always been blueberry and pumpkin, but they have pecan, apple, peach... you name it! I came here a few days before Thanksgiving and I was amazed at how organized DO was. The staff ran the store like a well oiled machine! There were employees at each "pie stand" to hand you each pie, direct you to the next pie station, pick up a pre-ordered pie, and then clear signs and no lines to check out! DO had about 10 to 12 cashier stations, give or take, along with a bagger to handle the holiday rush, and they did an excellent job! There is nothing like shopping around the holidays with ZERO stress! Needless to say, I am impressed. Delicious Orchard's management staff has" how to handle crowds" down to a science! The store also has a number of other freshly baked goodies... I recommend the old fashion or cider donuts. You can smell them all the way from the parking lot...and the parking lot is huge! I parked on the grass the place was so jammed! Over the years Delicious Orchards has really stepped it up. They have a coffee and tea bar, a juice and smoothie bar, an apple fritter shack, and hot cider stands on your way in and out! The cider was free and I wolfed down a cup after shopping. The hot, sweet brew warmed my body up immediately! My one criticism of Delicious Orchards is that by now I would think they would have at least expanded their gluten free items... don't worry I'm not going to get started on the paleo / vegan train! It is worthy to note, that they had only one sugar free pie option and they had one gluten free granola bar in their pastry section and that was it. Since so many people and doctors are becoming more and more aware of how diet relates to certain health conditions I would like to see a store like this expand a bit in bakery options. That way more people can enjoy the fresh apples and pumpkin pies... and not just wish they could! Besides that, I have no complaints. Stopped by here after apple picking at Eastmont Orchards, and I was highly impressed! I saw someone visit here from Social Media, and I wanted to check it out myself. There was a line when we arrived around 12:30, but it moved fairly quickly. When we first came in, we were surrounded by delicious baked goods! The apple coder donuts were to die for! Not too sweet, and was paired greatly with a glass of milk, coffee or tea. We also grabbed some chocolate chip cookies. They were also amazing, crisp, chewy, and buttery! A must get as well. Then we waddled our way to the PIE section! There was a large variety (blueberry, pumpkin, strawberry rub, apple crumb, etc.) but we opted for regular apple. IT WAS STILL WARM!! We got home (Staten Island), and it was still warm! The crust was flaky and buttery, and the filling was fresh and not overly sweet. I didn't really wander around the market that much, but it seemed pretty stocked with regular grocery items as well. It could get a little crowded, so you should have a game plan before coming. There was a lovely outdoor area for food, but the lines were a little long. Make sure you come early! I highly recommend you come here. Everything was delicious and fresh. Nice and big organic market. Originally wanted to come here for berry picking, but sadly berry picking was closed for the day. Probably should've called first to confirm whether berry picking was open, but we would've came regardless, so I didn't bother calling. We asked the young cashier about it and she said it's been closed for a long time, probably not even open for the season yet.(8/30/16) The market itself is kind of expensive. Prices are mid level to high. We bought a couple of snacks for a day trip to the beach. I really enjoyed the salt and vinegar potato chips that they sold there. Anyway,tried the apple fritters and the apple cider donuts which were delicious. We tried the plain apple cider donuts and it had a nice subtle sweetness to it. We also ordered lunch there and it was decent. I had the mesclun salad and BF had the Italian sub which was pretty good. After traveling from Staten Island to Colts neck Nj, we were anticipating a glorious Fall day at Delicious orchards. Many delicious and varied enticements. Store is well kept and well stocked. The bakery is overwhelming, with everything imaginable to choose from. All looks decadent and delicious. We enjoyed our visit, spent over $400 on many wonderful goodies, and couldn't wait to get home to try them all. However, here's the bad part. We purchased an apple crumb pie for about $23.00. Pretty pricey for an apple pie, but we figured it must be worth it. Boy, were we wrong! Appearances can be deceiving I guess. As we cut into it, we were disappointed to learn that the crust broke apart, telling us it was a frozen pie crust, def not homemade. It was the kind you buy in the frozen food aisle at your grocer. That was problem #1. Problem because everyone loves a good homemade flaky pie crust, right? This was not that! Secondly, as we bit into it, the sliced apples were undercooked, some were, some weren't. Now mind you, we don't want a soggy overcooked filling, but these apples felt that you were biting into a raw apple. Then the next bite was good. Filling was def not consistent. Found that annoying. Pie was seasoned well, nice cinnamon flavor, good consistency, but those raw undercooked apples! Ugh! Crumb topping was perfect. Soft moist crumbs as they should be. For the price they charge, they need to perfect their filling and cook the apples well, not half and half. Next time, we will buy a different fruit. Best Farmers Market in New Jersey, you say? I would agree 100% and I am so glad I live near by. Especially in the fall and winter months because they always reflect the seasons from decorations to food. I would highly recommend getting there early especially on the weekends as they lines get long. The food is always fresh and priced right for the items you are looking to purchase. The staff go out their way to make you feel welcome even when you are waiting on the longer lines. Also, they are extremely knowledgeable in every department and I always feel confident when I ask for recommendations. The donuts----get two bags, because you could easily eat one by yourself and your house guests will not be happy. From Gift Baskets to the Cider Café there is something for everyone. Came here on a Sunday and it was filled with the 65+ crowd. That isn't a bad thing just something I noticed. They have all sorts of homemade stuff here. Everything from pies to cookies to peanut butter to smoothies. They also have plenty of samples so you can try different things when you walk around. I loved the peanut butter sample section. I bought 2 different peanut butters based on the samples. I didn't know butterscotch peanut butter existed! They also have smoothies when you walk out. It looks like a well run top notch place. We've enjoyed Delicious Orchards for more than 25 yrs. while living in Colts Neck. Each year we are more disappointed and after buying an Apple Crumb Pie, Apple Cinder Donuts , Peanut Butter Cookies plus a ton of fruit - we've concluded they've lost their way. Threw away the pie donuts and cookies - pie was soupy and tasted like rotten butter, the donuts were stale and wet (?!) and the cookies tasteless. The baked item used to be really homemade and now it's clear they've automated much of the process. They will remain successful as families "make a day" of enjoying the atmosphere and quaintness of this "country store" and that's fine. Just know you can get the baked items at any food store - not only cheaper, but a higher quality and better tasting. I would - and have paid premium prices for a quality home baked items, but that's not what Delicious Orchards sells anymore. What a bummer. read more

Not exactly in my neck of the woods, but definitely on my list of annual holiday traditions moving forward. I could easily spend an hour or two just looking at all of the options and trying all of the samples, let alone trying to decide what to pick up and buy. Everything we purchased was fantastic, and the smell of the freshly baked pies when you arrive is beyond amazing. The variety of foods - from bakery to meat to deli to fresh produce - is quite vast and more than I have seen at any other farm in Northern New Jersey. It's really more than just a lunch stop and is a one-stop destination for everything you could possibly want (and then some)! We didn't try any of the ready to eat options for lunch on this particular day, but I desperately want to go back and try them all. We'll provide an update once we do so, and if the rest of the establishment is any indication I'm sure they will all be scrumptious. read more

I've tried one of the sandwiches from the lunch cart outside, which was fairly unmemorable, but the baked goods here are really where it's at. Great pies, breads, and pastries. If you come around lunchtime during the week they usually give out samples in the deli area.
