Raheem and Mohammed always take great care of me. I love this local deli in the TL. They have healthy options for the neighborhood which can be hard to find.

This place is a really great addition to the neighborhood! It's nicely done inside, but not snobby or overly fancy. There's a decent amount of space and even a couple of cafe tables if you want to sit. The guy at the counter who made my sandwich was really friendly and professional. They have a great selection of actually affordable (for SF) sandwiches with Boar's Head meats, salads, sides, Double Rainbow ice creams, snacks, soft drinks, and coffee. I got a Shack Stack on Dutch Crunch from the sandwich menu since it has a little of everything; I added in mustard and "Fiery Chipotle Gourmaise" for good measure and it was actually a little spicy. They toasted it so the cheese could melt, too. It was a solid sandwich at a great price! There aren't really places to grab an ice cream cone around here so that's a good reason to stop by. I hope they stick around.

Well now, let me spin you a tale about a curious little spot tucked away in San Francisco's Tenderloin district, a place by the name of Deli Shack. Were it not for the sweet serendipity of proximity, I might never have stumbled upon it--just another speck amid the cacophony of convenience stores littering the neighborhood. But fortune smiles on the curious, does it not? And so, here I am, singing its praises like a bard of old. From the moment you step inside, it's as if the place whispers, "Hoş geldiniz," welcoming you like an old friend. The air carries neither the staleness of neglect nor the acrid tang of too much bleach--it's just clean, inviting, and uncluttered, like a room someone actually cares about. Their wares are modest, a testament to the adage that less can indeed be more. The real treasures here are bottled, mind you--rows of kombucha for the health-conscious, and an impressive variety of Diet Dr Pepper and Diet Canada Dry for those whose hearts beat to the rhythm of effervescence. It's the kind of selection that makes a man ponder life's finer comforts, like soda that dances on the tongue. Ah, but the counter! That's where the heart of the operation resides, adorned with sweets of Turkish persuasion. Now, I must confess, Turkish delight has betrayed me in the past, and I eyed it here with the suspicion one reserves for an old adversary. But the baklava? Ay Allah, the baklava! Layers so delicate they might have been spun by celestial hands, and flavors so rich you'd swear they came straight from heaven's pantry. They've even gone so far as to differentiate between the factory-made variety and the family-made creations--a small touch, but a thoughtful one. You've got to respect the honesty. The service? Well, let me put it this way: if the folks behind the counter had been running the Ottoman Empire, it might still be standing today. Polite, warm, and efficient, they make you feel like your presence is not just noticed but appreciated. If I have one wish, it's that they'd expand their offerings to include fresh produce--cantaloupe, beans, the kind of earthy goods that nourish both body and soul. But expansion is a tricky beast, and sometimes it's better to stay true to what you're good at. So there you have it, my five-star ode to Deli Shack. If you're wandering the Tenderloin, craving a Diet Dr Pepper, or longing for a baklava that whispers sweet nothings to your taste buds, stop by. And if you don't, well, dostum, that's your loss.

Much in the same spirit as SF OrganiCA on the next block, this combo deli, sandwich shop, and mini-market is daring to challenge the status quo and present a welcome sight on an otherwise tough stretch of Larkin Street in the Tenderloin. It was a sunny space, very well maintained, and the staff matched the decor. Although they made quite a few sandwiches, I was in the mood for something lighter and ordered the $4.99 Caesar Salad to go. The expected mix of romaine, croutons, Parmesan, and Caesar dressing just hit the spot when I got home (photo: https://yelp.to/Kf2Jc1VPuk). I wish them much success because the Tenderloin needs them. FOOD - 4.5 stars...a fine Caesar salad and a generous portion AMBIANCE - 5 stars...really stands out on Larkin SERVICE - 5 stars...it's all in the attitude TOTAL - 5 stars...a deli that delights, keep it up RELATED - Exploring the Tenderloin? Another great food addition to the TL and much needed when so many places in the area are closing. Deli Shack is a place to get sandwiches, salads, coffee, and snacks. It's also the only place in the area where you can get ice cream cones and sundaes. I got one of their signature sandwiches today and it was yummy! I got the Stack Shack with no onions on sourdough. The pepper in the turkey gave it a bit of heat which I liked. The bread was soft and easy to bite into. It was around $14 with tip, standard now for SF, and with the price. I could've saved the other half for later but I was hungry so I ate it all. I usually eat while working, but it did take me about an hour to finish it. I glanced at their ice cream section while waiting for my sandwich and it looks like they have classic flavors like vanilla, chocolate, and cookies n cream. I would totally get a scoop here if I was craving ice cream. One of the employees asked if I wanted to try their coffee and sadly I had to decline. But it smelled so good!! I'm pretty sensitive to caffeine so I prefer to drink it early in the morning. But I will definitely have to get it next time. Seriously, I'm so happy that another lunch option has popped up in that area of Larkin. I wish Deli Shack the best of luck! Definitely check them out!

The Deli Shack has been open for a few months now. Today I dropped by to order a sandwich. You have to order at the cash register instead of the deli counter. Sandwich came out quick. It was slightly heated as well. The sandwich was good although they don't pack in the meat like the other deli up the block. Deli is clean. They have limited groceries on one side of the store.

Great customer service. Clean shop there is a sitting area. I came in for a sandwich I got a turkey sandwich. It was mid. I might have to come back again to be more specific I was kind of distracted. I do remember asking for Grilled onions the guy told me yea and my onions were not grilled. There was no Mayo or varied mustards offered either. Other than that they have tons of other stuff like salads and milkshakes.

was very rude to me not nice they change the price of my sandwich 2 times. i wasted 8 dollars on being ripped off. the water i get from there was expiratiored past the expiration i dumped it out. today i get a sandwich it was $12.00 from $14.00 i get a g.t. dave probiotic drink it was past the expiration date i complained. than i get other one i don't know why the color was off on island bliss so i began to drink it. it tasted like cleaning products. i notices that the other drinks where not that color nor looked like that very weird. i complained about it and was told it my mistake when it was not i never made the drink it came tasting like that or from what ever happened to it. he gave me creep for it don't give me back my $5.00 and was raciest to me and said i don't care about America there from an arabic place i told him off for being very rude to me not putting up with his creep because i had enough of this and he saying you can't have your money back. the drink give me a tummy ache and made me sick i throw up. please don't wast your time with those rude people please go some where. where they check the dates of food to not sell you expired food and there sandwich has always been very slippy. from now on my own home cooked meal not this disaster i was so very hungry that i spent $16.00 there because i had not eaten in 2 days. i normally don't eat at those place but i thought it was going to be nice this time i was wrong how sad and mean this experience was for me. i really needed the g.t. Dave stuff and i was let down because he don't want to make sure that this was not expired and what ever happened to the other drink was very strange. any why i'll eat at home from now on no more blowing my money on this creep.

The day I went, the brunch focaccia was an artichokes, salsa verde, sundried tomatoes, red onion, arugula, and pepper jack focaccia that day, and it was delicious! they grill it fresh in front of you (takes about 5 minutes), and I'd recommend eating it as soon as possible for the best experience. The focaccia is so light and airy with the crispy crust, and their ingredients are so high quality with a symphony of flavors. Would definitely come back again for this, maybe to also try their paninis!
