Have had it before but it was packaged and sold through a food distributor to a local restaurant where I'm from at one point and never did disappoint! Walked into this iconic restaurant ready to eat some of their pastrami and could not have been more excited!!!! Free parking in the back lot behind the restaurant is a huge plus to this space that is massive because parking in Chicago is an expensive nightmare! The pastrami was delicious and quite massive for the price! My only complaint would be that I wish the whole Navels were hot and slice fresh to order, but this is a super, old school Deli that knows their business and I see why they won't reinvent the wheel on that one. My date had the roast beef and it was super rare. The staff were more than accommodating and ready to answer all your questions and make sure you are happy. Place is massive and had a market off to the side which is really awesome if you want to get something to go! Definitely would Go back in a heartbeat!

(I am in Las Vegas ) Unfortunately the delivery service the Deli usually uses quits before 2:30 and so I couldn't get it delivered. I called the Deli to ask if they had a different service and the owner said, he would take it there himself to my sick friend THAT KIND OF ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT IS WHAT WE NEED MORE OF! Small businesses give a damn and I love that this owner was kind enough to go all the way over to the Warwick Allerton to personally deliver her chicken soup and tuna, which by the way she said was absolutely fabulous!! When given an option I will pick a small business over corporate America any day... And this owner just gave me another good reason why. Kudos to a business owner with pride and concern.

The bread is sourced from D'Amoto's (IYKYK) ‍. The meat was thinly sliced but they didn't skimp at all. The hot peppers were the star of the show though. We enjoyed our subs and now have a place to add to our list for a new quick lunch. For the store itself, they have some odds and ends but many Italian staples. The counter and deli had a steady flow of customers in and out.

Service was pretty quick, even though people were coming in and ordering constantly. There were few tables in the corner by the liquor section/wine section. We were coming from our hotel, which was close to Michigan Avenue so decided to do a pick up order and place that online through their website. When we showed up to the deli, everything was already ready and there are a few tables so we decided to just eat there to make it easier on the kids. We also decided to just get coffee there instead of trying to find another shop and the lattes that we got were both delicious. This place was super cute and exactly what we were looking for before heading to the zoo. It was not very busy at the time that we went, which was around 9am. I stopped by on a Saturday around lunchtime and it wasn't too busy. There were some long benches and some regular tables, making for either a cute dine in spot or solid carryout option. My dining partner and I split the Bombay chulet- while a bit on the pricey side, it was definitely enough for two people and evened out. One bite into the sandwich, she said that this was the best one she'd ever had. It was hearty but no one ingredient overpowered another. The meat was very fresh and I absolutely loved the spicy fig chutney that gave the perfect balance of sweet and savory. The cheese was so creamy that it sort of melted in with the aioli, which was also very balanced well proportionally. However, the fried crunchy onion bits really took it over the top for an explosion of both taste and texture. We left very satisfied and already planning when we would make a return visit.
