Nothing fancy here except the flavours ... and therefore 4.25 stars! I ended up ordering 4 curries (two/dish): two specials that both included basmati rice and plain naan, at home we dug into chicken tikka masala, chicken cajun curry, chicken chipotle-mango curry, and a 5-bean all-veg curry. Flavours. Deep and rich, and varied to set them apart. Of amazing depth were especially the cajun and chipotle-mango! When Jay was cooking them, I could smell the accented spices used. It's likely that his seasoned butter (ghee) and gravy base are just great, and wide-ranging enough to wonderfully underlay any added flavours. Decor. Portions were large enough to stuff us, and enough left over for a small lunch later. For sure offering a sizable tip is so appropriate! Jay claims that he's the only true Gujarat establishment in the Calgary area. This guy is for real. Imagine making 4 separate very distinct and yummy curries in a mere 20 minutes. The ambiance is a bit confusing, a bit hap hazard and the Sunday buffet chafing dishes was on full display, four days early. However, not really there for the mood! Service is very friendly and the menu is a broad collection of southern India and Indo Chinese food. First impressions, that weren't going that well with the ambiance, took another hit when the served me a skunky draft beer. Probably not a big seller. However they handled it really well so no harm no foul. We ordered the veggie samosas, chickpea masala, and chicken Szechuan Chow Mein. All absolutely delicious and very large servings for the money. Sadly we left a lot of it behind as we weren't headed home. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

I ordered: Chicken tikka masala: it was amazing. The sauce was thick and the dish was packed with boneless, tender chicken, peppers and onions. It is the perfect amount to share with another person. The spices were incredible and really tasted authentic. The spiciness level was also perfect. Basmati rice: I was quite surprised of the portion that they give. It is a really big and deep bowl filled with rice. It tasted great pairing this with the tikka masala sauce. Garlic naan: the naan was incredible. You can taste the fresh garlic on it. Overall, I was very satisfied with the quality and quantity of the dishes. They are all reasonably priced and I would love to go back here. My only issue was that the dishes did not come out as hot as I would have liked. It was all warm but could've been hotter.

Also, ask for a knife, J know were are post COVID, this is one of those dishes that you tear off, though my wife cut her piece with a spoon, we got a knife after that. The food came quickly, and our additions and requests were handled quickly and efficiently by the staff. Now to look at it all the curries have the same sort of look you them, I assure you, each and everyone had a delicious and different flavour. Dining in Canada for over 20 years now, I have found that restaurants have reduced the heat on dishes, this is not so at The Rock Fort (IMHO). I did not order the Mango Lassi, but was told it was delicious. The Lamb was the spicy dish, the other couple are Asian, and they were enjoying the spice level of the lamb dish. The meats were tender, moist and delicious, the Naan was so good two more were ordered to help sop up the tasty sauces. The restaurant has tables and booths , both were clean and no issues were found. You can have a view of the kitchen to watch the chefs cook (glass partitioned). We look forward to revisiting this restaurant to try different Dosas and I really want to try their Kabobs. Try this if you have not been there, it is worth it!
