I also went to the manager and he came at me and blamed me as well. I was told that I damaged her $1400 phone. My brand new car was damaged. I wanted to back out of the deal but they wouldn't let me. I would never go back to the dealership again. I cried all the way home. It should've been a very enjoyable experience was not at all. I will be taking this to higher ups and calling everyone I can. I had my vehicle picked up for service when I got it back my wheels were scratched up. it look like the were either scratched when rotat my tires or from hitting the curb. I called left a message never got a return call. The other day I visit to pickup a part I ordered and a sen woman was being escorted out. As she was being escorted out I heard her saying she never get call backs, while the employees were complaining and being very rude and disrespectful toward the woman. Until yesterday, I, too, would have given this dealer repair shop a 5-star review. I moved to the Wilmington, DE area in the fall of 2020 and since then have spent nearly $9000 in repairs at both the repair and the body shops. However, my experience yesterday changed that. On March 1, 2024, the battery light of my 2013 Impreza came on while driving. I pulled into the closest parking lot and looked this up in my owner's manual, which indicated a serious problem. I returned home and called the dealer, who told me to bring the car in. At the time of drop off, I noted that our dog had been acting strangely around the car for the past few days, after seeing something go under the car while it was parked in the driveway. He kept insisting on going into the garage to sniff it, and would pull to come home from a walk and bark to get into the garage to sniff the car. A couple of hours later, I received a call from Mark, who told me that rodents had chewed through a couple of belts in the engine, and damaged the hood latch wire. Having never heard of this, I was incredulous. I immediately told my husband when I got off the phone and he, too, was astounded that rodents could cause nearly $2000 in engine damage. Note, the conversation with Mark was not, "you have to replace some worn belts and the hood latch engine on your old 10+-year-old car, but yes, we did see some evidence of rodent activity in the car." I okayed the repair. Over that weekend, I Googled the issue of rodent damage to auto engines and found copious results showing that the problem is everywhere, from the city streets of NYC to rural areas. Postings also indicated that damages were covered by people's insurance. We also shared the story with others over the next few days and heard of at least a half dozen similar incidents, with people saying, yes, insurance paid for the damages. Note: if the story was I had to pay $2000 for a repair on my 10+-year-old car, and by the way, there was some evidence that rodents were in the car, it would have been a pretty crazy, not to mention boring, thing for either of us to share. So, I contacted my local State Farm agency to report the incident. They told me that they don't cover rodent damage to engines. The repair was completed and I paid the bill, trying to count my blessings that I could afford to pay that bill when there was a time in my life that I couldn't. When I went to pick up the car, I had another conversation with Mark and his female associate about how incredible it is that this could have happened, asking questions like how long it takes for such damage to occur, could it really have happened in just the few days since the dog was acting weird around the car. Yes, he said and he gave me the chewed belt to show my husband. His female associate indicated that she's just has a customer with the same issue and that their insurance paid. I asked how one prevents this from happening again, and she said that some of her customers had put mint repellent in their engines and had not had another incident. Two months later, I was still bugged by the fact that State Farm wouldn't pay and began to research insurance companies that had covered such damages with the intention to switch insurance companies. In the process, I came across a corporate newsletter from State Farm indicating that they actually do pay for rodent damage. I shared this with my local agent on May 1 and she initiated the claim. I attached the original repair estimate. The next day, State Farm denied the claim because rodent damage wasn't mentioned on the estimate. He had called Mark from Delaware Subaru, who said that it wasn't rodents if it wasn't on his estimate. Upset, I went to visit Mark in person and he doubled down on the statement he had given to State Farm. Of course, had State Farm handled this correctly from the beginning, the claim would have been properly documented. But now I am stuck and I look like a liar to State Farm. read more

Lack of Empathy and Process Inefficiency in Lease Car Management at Delaware Subaru I would like to share my disappointment and frustration with the service provided by Delaware Sabura during my recent attempt to return a leased Subaru. My experience with both the salesman and Andy from the Finance department was deeply unsatisfactory and disrespectful. On Saturday, February 10, 2024, I personally visited the dealership to return the leased vehicle, as it was under my mother's name. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, she was unable to return on the contractual due date of February 12, 2024, but she did return on February 13, 2024. Despite explaining this situation to the salesman, I was informed that they couldn't handle it because I didn't make an appointment. Also, I could not leave the car at the dealership due to purported security concerns. I felt frustrated because I came in January and another salesman had assured me that I could drop off the car at any time. Despite of inconsistency in the information provided, this salesman's attitude towards me was dismissive and unwelcoming, making me feel uncomfortable and unable to voice my concerns. Subsequently, on Monday, February 12, 2024, when I called the dealership and sought assistance from Andy in the Finance department, I was met with further disregard for my situation. Andy cut me off and refused to listen to my concerns, demonstrating a lack of empathy and professionalism. Furthermore, I must highlight a crucial oversight in the leasing process. Despite explaining my mother is my adult dependent and has consistently made lease payments since the initiation of the contract, neither the salesman nor anyone from the Finance department advised me to be added as a co-author on the account. It is evident that Delaware Sabura lacks flexibility in dealing with unexpected difficulties faced by customers. All I sought was a simple solution to return the car until my mother's return, which should have been accommodated with minimal inconvenience. Fortunately, I received exemplary service upon seeking assistance from Matt Slap Subaru. With over 20 years of experience, their manager Chris efficiently facilitated the return process, taking no more than 15 minutes. The staff at Matt Slap Subaru displayed genuine care and professionalism, ensuring a smooth transition and addressing all my concerns promptly. In conclusion, I urge others to reconsider visiting Delaware Sabura and instead drive the extra mile to experience the exceptional service provided by Matt Slap Subaru. I want to highlight the significant difference between the two dealerships and help others get the quality service they deserve. Thank you for your attention to my review. Bought a car here a few years ago. Called 'em last week to order a BRZ--the new model comes out this fall. Salesperson was only interested in getting me to "come down", claiming he couldn't take a deposit by phone. Called back saying there would be a $3500 surcharge over the list price due to shortages and demand and other bullshit. I called Cherry Hill Suburu. In 10 minutes the car was specked and a cc deposit taken and paperwork emailed. Meanwhile Delaware Subaru keeps texting and leaving voice messages. read more

I paid way over MSRP for a new Subaru legacy which is my problem but the complete lack of service after the deal went through is their issue . Their business practices are shadier than up here in NY which is saying a lot . 1) I purchased an extended warranty and although I specifically asked April not to integrate it into the contract and to just bill it out against my credit card, she did the opposite. When I signed the credit receipt, she simply applied that money as "money down" towards the loan 2) after changing my mind on the extended warranty, and agreed to refund the money, they still not have refunded the value of the warranty against my loan principal. i'm not in a rush but it's the fact that they keep saying that they're gonna do something and never make any attempt to do so that is frustrating 3) I have not received my registration and plates yet despite my temporary about to expire and again it's not the fact that I didn't receive the tags...it's that there's absolutely no verification that anybody's working to resolve these issues that is frustrating. DMV has absolutely no application in my name for this car's VIN number and they don't appear to be concerned or worried about this at all. Now my insurance company is on my back wanting an answer as to why the car was not registered in my state of residency yet Purchased six cars in my life and have never had a problem with a purchase . Very poor customer service and no communication between sales and service departments to the customer. It's as though they don't care about you after you buy a car. Salesman promised to call me to set up an appointment for a new key fob that they owed me when I bought the car. A month after I called the salesman, his response was that service department is busy. Okay, I get it. I waited another month and half I called the service department myself to set up an appointment. They had NO IDEA they owed me a new key. They told me they were gonna order the key and called me when to bring the car. The day before my appointment they called me saying that the person never ordered the key. I had to reschedule for another date (lost a day from work). The other case from their lack of communication was about my registration card. They were supposed to call me when the card arrived. I went through two temporary tags (I understand the DMV is backed up with all new car registrations). On the third month I called the finance person for an update. She checked and told me it was in and I picked it up the same day (December 16th). They had the card in their possession for over a month with a note that said "mail by November 8th". I stopped in yesterday to ask 2 questions about Subarus: - which models have a Turbo, as the standard 4 cylinder is a little weak - has Subaru solved their chronic head gasket problems, notorious and expensive to repair The sale guy I spoke with, who had a very nice beard, disappointed me badly on both fronts: - said Subaru solved the gasket problems 20 years ago (false) - very few Forresters with Turbo (XT model); his list of which Subaru models are built with a turbo was woefully incomplete; over the next few minutes of our conversation, we added 2 mode models that can have a turbo. The only way I will buy another Subaru, is if Subaru puts a lifetime warranty on the head gaskets. I had an '03, and the head gaskets went TWICE! That's when I got rid of it, and swore off Subaru. Granted, he may have been on the defensive as my conversation opened with the head gasket problem, but that's his job, to answer questions, openly and truthfully. (hahahahahahahaha, just kidding!) Subaru makes a really good car, but as long as they use the Boxer engine, they will have head gasket problems, as the oil and radiator fluid are soaking the gaskets any time the engine is turned off. Very few other engines share this anatomy, the horizontally opposed engine. Great idea, if they can keep the head gaskets from failing. read more

But after giving me a supposed "drive-it-off-the-lot" price on a used car (which they were very resistant to haggling on), they socked me with a huge added "document" fee (hundreds of dollars more than the average for Delaware). I also sprung for an extended warranty, which should have been part of the negotiations (partly my fault, I suppose). Between that warranty, the not-very-discounted car price, and the outrageous document fee, they squeezed a lot of profit out of me. I got service and inspection completed on my 2017 Subaru Forester on December 10th and just a month later my battery died. The tow company said it was the original battery and would no longer hold a charge and should have been replaced years ago. I did not know that and would expect during the my last service they would have recommended a new battery especially before winter. I had originally called on January 22nd to retrieve my service records from that service to see the results of the battery test and recommended service, but they did not have the information available at the time. The woman said she'd call back on the 24th and never did. I called back today and the service man pretty told me to go pound sand. I have given this dealership thousands of dollars and trusted them to take care of my car and be proactive but that trust is now gonna and I will no longer be going to this dealership. My recommendation is to use another dealership or repair shop. read more

Full disclosure... our first visit here was a disaster (but please read to the end). We were doing some internet car shopping and came in on the promise they would match the best price or "make it up to you". Arrived, got a price that was much higher and they were unable/unwilling to move. We left quite annoyed at the games. Next day I woke up thinking that was too bad... I still liked the car and even though I didn't like the games and message, everyone was very polite, personable and professional and those are qualities hard to find in the car market. I left their internet lady a message letting them know their price was way off and tried to crack the door open a tad. As lunch approached, I received a tentative call from Dorian, followed after lunch by a letter of apology from sales manager, April, offering to do their best to earn our business and an incredible offer. I called her, left a deposit, and said I'd be there right after work, adding that's I'd appreciate not going through the usual games. I went back halfway expecting the deal to fall apart quickly in the same games as the previous night. That turned out to be a wrong assumption Now for the review... My wife and I arrived, and we were treated to the smoothest and most pleasant new car buying experience I ever had. This was not low pressure, it was zero pressure. Dorian started us on the paperwork... then April came by the desk and laid out a few additional options we might consider. Dorian saw that the finance guy was tied up and lead us through a complete tour of the car and all the electronic gizmos it came with. Finally we got to the finance guy (the part of car buying I HATE the most). Here was Dave (the gentleman we dealt with the night before) and he too apologized for the night before, presented a few simple things we might consider (again - Zero pressure) and we simply signed the paperwork! The car, a black Forrester Touring, was prepped like it was going out on an important date. All details were polished and ready and nothing was left unattended to. So I don't know what happened the first day... I don't care (water under the bridge, etc. etc.). I can say that based on the sale last night, I FULLY RECOMMEND Delaware Subaru - they are polite, personable and professional. Give them a shot... maybe even two. read more

The sales guys at Delaware Subaru are nice, but that's about it. The guy at the front desk in Subaru service is pretty rude (Cory). He cuts you off and interrupts you when you try to explain a problem and he thinks there isn't one. I know a bit about cars, but when I was trying to explain there was still a problem with my car even though they "didn't find one," I was constantly interrupted and told it's fine. When I offered to come in and test drive it with one of the techs to actually show them what was wrong, I was interrupted, told it was fine again, and told to wait til I brought it in for my next oil change (I always change my own oil anyway). Long story short, I knew I had an intake leak (brand new car). I took it up to Concordville Subaru, where they were much nicer, took a ride with me and told me the car was clearly making an irregular noise (Delaware Subaru had told me "the car makes a lot of strange noises but it's normal so don't worry about it"). The Concordville guys found the loose bolt in less than an hour. They were professional and courteous and the car's been great since then. And one more thing, Concordville Subaru can always get you in for an appointment pretty much the next morning if you ask. When I was taking my car to Delaware Subaru they always made me wait a week or more. When I asked them on a Tuesday to get me in before the weekend (when I had a long road trip coming up that weekend) they made me wait til next Monday (and I ended up taking the bus because I was too nervous to drive my car when it wasn't working right). Needless to say I haven't been back to the Delaware Subaru service department except to buy oil filters. Two stars because they have a decent shuttle service when you leave your car for the day and because they'd actually fixed one thing for me under warranty before. read more

Can I give negative stars? So...this will be my first Yelp review. Actually, my very first NEGATIVE review about anywhere. So if you disagree with my thoughts, then please bare with me. They were absolutely perfect on day one of us looking for our next car. We had no intentions of taking a new car home, let alone a brand new 2015 model from the showroom! They even cut us a decent deal with a trade in. But...that's where the dream ends. In the excitement of purchasing our new car, we hadn't noticed a small dent on the door and a little hole in the upholstery. When we told them about it (over and over again) they said they'd reach out to let us know when their tech can take a look at it. They even said they could lend us a loner car. That was in June 2014. We almost missed our first car pmt b/c no bill was coming to our address. I found out (only by calling them) that they had submitted the incorrect address to our credit card comp. They "temporary" lost our Title. And because they lost our Title, that supposedly held up receiving our new license plate. They had to issue us ANOTHER Temporary Tag (which is still on our vehicle). Keep in mind we bought this car in June. It is now almost October. Finally a license plate was FED Ex'd to our house (I didn't know that was even possible), but kept getting sent during the hours we were at work (If only I worked from home). Now it is supposedly back and floating around Delaware Subaru. So until today... DENT, RIP IN UPHOLSTERY, AND NO LICENSE PLATE! I don't even want to get into the customer support over the phone. But basically my husband and I (both EXTREMELY patient people) have had it with calling/emailing/online chats through their website. We feel that we were given this great vehicle and along with it, promises of gold and myrrh, but once the sale was made, we were left on our own. No one calls, no one wants to take care of our issues. No one knows what the other department is doing. They say they will get to the bottom of it, meanwhile, they probably get off the phone, give us the finger and watch youtube clips all day. They allowed me to order one to specs and still honored the USAA price, which wasn't in their arrangement. Then we got caught in the Subaru stop-the-presses debacle as a results of a possible brake defect, lasting over three weeks. The folks at the dealership were very attentive to my questions. I had an awesome sales lady, she was great. Her name was Melissa. When we were negotiating she brought over some DOPE manager to start to deal with us. First he had the mileage wrong on our trade in... they had it calculated at 98,000 miles when it only had 41k. Then since Subaru was offering 1 percent financing they couldn't take any money off the Sticker price of the car. No one is that stupid to pay Sticker price for a new car regardless of the interest rate. We had words and he became more nasty so we walked out. Went to Matt Slapp basically got 1000.00 more on our trade in plus got the great Finance rate plus 2k knocked off of Sticker price. The manager lost the sale for his sales person and he looks like and acts like a shyster. So easy to tell which person it is at the dealership. read more

Two weeks ago we unexpectedly found ourselves looking for a new car after a collision with a deer. Our interactions with Delaware Subaru were positive from the onset. We knew that we wanted a 2015 Impreza Limited with Eyesight which is a rare combination. We located that exact car on the Delaware Subaru website. We were greeted by Charles Gianakis when we came to the dealership. He told us that he would offer us a good deal; he lived up to his word, easily beating deals offered by the likes of Costco and other buying programs. He made the purchase a pleasure in contrast to the usual auto buying ordeal. The finance officer, April Gambacorta, matched Charles' professionalism. She was well-prepared and the purchase went smoothly. We had done our homework on the Internet and knew costs, profits, etc. Delaware Subaru respected our knowledge and efforts; at each turn they offered us a fair deal. My daughter is a student at the University of Delaware and had accidently left a light on in her car so her battery was dead. She called the Subaru dealer near campus and they would not stay to help her. She called Delaware Subaru and they stayed open late to help her. The service department was extremely help and nice. The service worker explained to her which light she had left on and everything inside her car along with recharging her battery. In addition, the receptionist checked on her several times to make sure she was ok. It is wonderful to know that there is a dealership that is caring when your child is 6 hours from home. My sister and mom were on their way to New York to pick up my daughter from camp, when my Forester started having issues with the hill assist sensor which was replaced under a recall a couple of months ago. The car was stopping on its own even with the gas being given, quite dangerous at highway speeds. This service department was the closest and after explaining that they had to get to New York by certain time, the staff took the car in made the adjustments and had my family back on the road in record time. Absolutely abysmal! The garage and mechanics associated with Auto Team Delaware's Delaware Subaru are incomprehensibly inept. I urge you to not trust your vehicle to this dangerous company. We took our car here for a diagnosis with an emphasis on safety. Our car was returned to us with a guarantee of safety. On the highway driving away from the garage at 60m.p.h. the back wheel flew from the car. The mechanics were informed of this terrible incident and told us to return the car to them for fixing. Foolishly we went back to them, again being direct with our concerns. We asked explicitly that they check all lug nuts. The next time we received our car it was driven five miles when it started violently shaking. The lug nuts were loose enough to be turned by hand. This company is a disgusting wretched scam. We were charged thousands of dollars for work that we may not have needed, was performed to utter dissatisfaction, or perhaps not even performed at all. My efforts to remedy the situation have gone ignored. My emails and phone calls are regarded with silence. They are utterly disrespectful. They care nothing for safety and quality. Upon taking the car to more trusted mechanics it became painfully apparent how much we were lied to by Auto Team Delaware's Subaru garage. I am incredibly disappointed by this fraud. The waste of time and money is unfortunate, but the public endangerment and blatant disregard for safety is completely unacceptable. Please be safe and take your vehicle to a responsible garage. I have a Subaru under warranty and will not be going here again - Ever. Thanks to the other person's post, I will be going to Concordville for any recalls, etc. I took my car here because it had the puddle light recall. I figured I would get my 30k service while it was in to make it convenient (they do have an accommodating shuttle service/ loaner car available). I was called later to be notified my engine cover was broken because a prior dealership (the one I bought it from in PA), "snapped it off instead of unscrewing it" and this would cost me $150, but no worries, they can discount it to $125. Silly me for falling for this for the following reasons: 1. Oil changes do not require removal of the engine cover. 2. There are no screws on my engine cover, it does just snap off. 3. I trusted they were the professionals and experts on this. 4. A mechanic not from DE Subaru showed me the engine cover was still broken, AKA NEVER REPLACED!!!!! Before my Subaru, I had a Cadillac for years, which I took to the affiliated Delaware Cadillac. While that car had the most things wrong that I have ever experienced, the Cadillac service department was always honest, polite, knowledgeable, prompt, and provided great quality service. Walter or his coworkers never disappointed me. I figured the same level of service and knowledge would radiate to Subaru as well. I was completely wrong. read more
