It is worth the ride to play at this hill country course. I've played here a few times, and the course has always been in good shape. You have to think your way around this track as the short holes tempt you to take out the big stick when a 5-wood or long iron places you in position A for a birdie. This course has some elevation, so club selection is key on many of your second shots. The greens are fast and run true, which I like. Make sure you visit the snack bar. The people working here are nice, the food is excellent, especially the burgers. During this visit, we had a front-row seat at the Bluebonnet Airshow, which was happening next door at the Burnet Municipal Airport. One nit, you will not finish your round in four and a half hours. Plan on a 5-hour round. read more

This is a muni? I've played here three times this spring & summer, and the conditions have been exceptional, especially for a public course. Still lush when all around is crispy, last week I couldn't believe it was the middle of a heat wave and drought on that course. Prices are great - its a muni. It's a bit of a hike for me, just under an hour, but its hard to get Friday morning tee times around town at public places and most are super expensive for about the same quality of course as Delaware Springs. The folks running it have always been super nice to me. The layout is fun, forgiving enough for hackers. read more

One of my husband's favorite course to play -- so much that he's wanting us to move out there. We checked out the snack bar/restaurant and were happy to not only find some really great food (a patty melt, onions rings, club sandwich, and seasoned fries), but the people working behind the counter were so friendly and pleasant that it made our experience there a really great one. Ta waited on us and was truly delightful. She remembered my husband from a large golf tourney the day before. Feels like a friendly, close-knit community. I watched the staff greet other players by name several times as they stopped by for food and drinks. A pleasant surprise for a public course. read more

We were staying at Inks Lake State Park and wanted to squeeze in a quick round. We weren't sure what to expect on a Monday during spring break, but we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and helpful, club house was nice, cart was clean and fully charged, pace of play was good, under 4 hours. The course was in great shape from tee to green for this time of year. Large undulating greens and plenty of sand traps, which were all very well maintained. The holes are very spread out with nice views and lots of deer running around. I read the reviews before committing, but this was the closest option, so we went with it. I have no problem recommending a round here, excellent experience! read more

I only give it one star because you can't put down zero. We had hey bad experience at this golf course on Saturday. First off, this is the second Saturday in the last couple of months we played the course and both times the teetimes were delayed almost 45 minutes. No marshals on the course and they allow fivesomes on the weekend. Be prepared for over a five hour round and when we finally skipped over to the front nine after 12 holes. We were then told we could only play 3 holes and then would need to check in at the pro shop. They were afraid we might play 3 extra holes. I Take a lot of customers out to this golf course but never again. I guess when you get as much as they do you can do whatever you want and customer service is not at the top of their list. read more

Enjoyed the course, staff was great. One of the slowest golf courses I've ever played on. Tee'd off at 11:18am on a Tuesday and it took 5 hours?? Lots of "old ladies" playing that were brutally slow and refused to let you play through. Marshall's were plentiful but pace of play was pathetic. read more

Great course. Horrible pace. Teed off somewhere 215-230, watched 3 groups piled up in front us before we went. 3 other groups watching us go. Teed off on 10, checked in with Marshall. Hit the driver, drove to the ball. Waited 10 to the next shot. An hour in, 3 holes finished. We started putting a stop watch to the time we got off the green to the time we could hit again: 12 minutes. Hit, wait 5, hit, wait 7 for the green to clear, putt out, wait 12 minutes. 5 hour 30 minute round. Could have teed off at 4 and finished at the same time. Will be a while before I'm back to spend an entire day going back and forth. Left round rock at 1215, didn't get back to the car to go home until 7:44. read more

Went with a large group for a tournament. The course was surprisingly challenging and the greens were fantastic. Pro shop staff were very professional and helpful. 4 stars because of multiple blind tee shots and no visual aids available to assist with club selection and/or target lines. This course is a little gem that I would enjoy playing again and again, thanks for a great weekend. read more

Another disappointing experience at Delaware Springs today. Was told I could not tee off until my tee time because I booked on-line. Went to the tee box at my tee time and as I was getting out of the cart, 4 groups drove past me and started teeing off. I asked the Marshall what was going on? He said that they must have decided to go before their tee time. Really? Most screwed up thing I have ever seen read more

Golf course was in good shape....especially the greens. Food service was terrible. The lady behind the counter was the only person working. She handled everyone's money, picked up trash, and rubbed her nose all with the same pair of gloves on and proceeded to work on our food order without changing the gloves. My fiance tried to get her attention and she was ignored. She also tried to insist that a tip should be left on her credit card. We left in total disgust without waiting for our food. read more

For those Austinites looking for a solid golf course, make the drive to Burnet. Delaware Springs is in great shape: lush fairways and smooth greens. The course is well laid out, not your typical public course where holes run back and forth. There's a feeling of seclusion on each hole. Do yourself a favor, you won't regret the drive! read more

I've played Delaware Springs several times before. My friends and I USUALLY enjoy the course. Today was a s stark exception. It had nothing to do with the conditions for the course or the weather. It is about lack of course management/pace of play. Clearly one of the local 'men's groups' was doing an event (probably a frequent thing) that day. There were closest to the hole markers on par threes. Not a tournament, just a club outing of some sort. The guy in the pro shop even said "I think my seniors have made the turn, so you can go ahead and head out". So something was going on. Had several very slow groups ahead of us. Some of them were 5-deep (which is ridiculous) one allowed to play through, the others had no such etiquette. A "Marshal" took my receipt, doing the starter role. Then disappeared. No one out there to monitor pace of play. HORRIBLE. What makes it worse is that I called the day before when one my group got injured and couldn't play. I advised them of this and asked if we could be moved to a different start time since it was a smaller group...might be better for them and us. (I checked their website first - LOTS of times were still open) I was told 'Nope don't have room to move you around'...I told them it could be earlier or later. Still NO. And there was no mention of the the time we did have being in the middle of this men's club/group. Completely ridiculous and avoidable. I'm not playing golf to be in any kind of hurry, but slow play and '5-somes' are something altogether different. At the next "team meeting" for the staff, maybe discuss the basics of management of play, start times, etc. I play all over the area and this was beyond the pale. read more
