We were blown away by the incredibly well made jewelry items, kids products, masks, and quirky collectables. My sister found a great selection of gifts for her twin daughters ( 3) in particular cat mermaid aprons with cooking accessories. I got them a massive play kitchen last Holiday season, so this was a perfect find! The store is also inside an adorable pink house ( Great for photo ops) I LOVE all the unique gifts, especially all the made in Michigan gifts. Being from Michigan and living in California, I LOVE showing my MI pride out of state. Not so cluttered that you can't turn around, great lighting and unique ways of displaying items. My lower rating is because of the service to potential vendors. It seems non existent. I'd love to hear from any active vendor there. I dropped off my card (after messaging them via their website, email and Instagram over several months) to inquire about becoming a vendor and never heard back. Maybe they don't have any vendor openings or they don't think my art is a good fit. That's fine. However, I think a courtesy email telling me that should be a normal expectation, though? Maybe Im way off. I still get a ton of advertising whales from their subscription list, so.... ?

All the candles are handmade and the lady who makes them will come up with some interesting designs. On their facebook page, they have candles in tin cans and martini glasses. I stick to the soy wax candles in the mason jars. They burn clean and look pretty classic. They have a bunch of aromas to choose from. One is a total ringer for the Aveda Shampure scent. I settled for the Cinnamon one and I think a lemony scent. And the best thing? The pricing. The candles run about $8, not too bad for a handmade soy wax candle (much better than the pish they sell in the mall). If you fancy some mood lighting, yummy smelling candles and want to support a local business, then you have to check them out.

Today was a great visit! The employee was a very arty young girl with fun piercings. She was friendly and definitely took care of me, price wise. I didn't realize that a lot of the things I got were not included in the bag price, my bad. She was so sweet and gave me a great price. Everything was clearly for my classroom. It's a good thing that this place is pretty far from my house and that I try to not be the art teacher who hoards stuff, otherwise this place would be a regular hang it of mine!

The owner was very friendly and gave snacks to my dog (asked permission first). This is a place for 22 local artists to sell their items and the store has little sections for each artist. The owner also said that there would be incoming classes taught by artists including stained glass! Definitely a fun place and would recommend going! It also supports local artists and a small business! Prices were reasonable for their work in my opinion.

Room for improvement includes pricing all the candles. I picked one up without a price tag and it was $8 when I got to the register, when I saw many others priced around $6 or $7. It was a gift for a friend so not a big deal. Discount Candles is a really fun shop whether you believe the hullabaloo or not. They offer a wide variety of candles, incense and oils to choose from, and they've got a large (free!) parking lot to the right of the store for your convenience.
