Beautiful decor hanging from the ceiling

The name is a bit confusing, the Polish Art Center sells Polish imported items, and is not a type of community center. And it worth checking out, both for gifts and just to window shop. They have Polish foods and candy, ceramics, books. apparel and tchotchkes. I stopped by in December and they have a lot of ornaments. I will note they are pricey, I'm guessing this is due to the import costs. Worth checking out!

My brother and I visited Detroit this past weekend and stayed in Hamtramck, which has a really interesting history as a diverse immigrant community. In the past, the city was very Polish, and now it's the first city to have a majority-Muslim population! Since we were staying in Hamtramck, we wanted to explore it as well as Detroit. So we spent a few hours walking, shopping, and eating in Hamtramck. We stopped into the Polish Art Center for a little shopping. And I'm glad we did! What a fun store. It has Polish everything: amber, stoneware, t-shirts, books, Pisanki (eggs), and more. Tchotchkes galore! I walked out with a stoneware bowl, a wooden egg, and some pierogi socks. The store is beautiful and well worth a visit!

Fantastic store, plenty to look at and awesome gifts for all. The owner is nice and knowledgeable! I will be back with friends and I have to check out the museum next door as well. Thank you :)

I was shopping online for some Pysanky merchandise and ran across the Polish Art Center and almost placed an order when I realized they were just a few miles from me down I-75! Ah, the joys of living in a culturally diverse area! So I took my Polish mother (along with my son and stepdad) to take a look around. The shop was bigger than I anticipated (I uploaded a photo of one half of the first room). They have books, videos/DVDs, tapes/CDs, food, candy/chocolate, clothing, artwork, ornaments, Pysanky, jewelry, toys, glassware, and more! Every direction you looked there was something neat to look at. All three women who we saw working were extremely helpful. I was interested in Pysanky books and didn't see them on the shelf, so I asked and she said they usually keep them in the back (generally only displaying them for Easter) so she brought out a stack for me to look through. I didn't see the other item I was looking for (an electric kistka) so I asked and within moments, I had one in my hand. They answered all our questions, chatted with me about my son, and even talked with my mom a bit about her Pysanky. It was like talking with family. And then as we were about ready to leave, my stepdad asked for recommendations for Polish sausage, and received directions to a nearby market...so we also came home with sausage...which we will be eating for dinner in about an hour! I highly recommend this place, and will definitely go back if and when I need a Polish fix. ETA: Here is the list of offerings from the back of their business card (also uploaded to photos): Lead Crystal, Wooden Carvings, Wooden Boxes & Plates, Candy, Puzzles, Posters, Chess, Toys, Rosaries, Crosses, Holy Cards, Music (CD/DVD/Video/Classes), Boleawiec Stoneware, Folk Costumes, Stacking Dolls, Amber Jewelry/Candles/Trees, Christmas Ornaments, Oplatek , Paper Cut Outs, Wooden Eggs, Greeting & Note Cards, Maps, Flags & Windsocks, Stickers, Mushrooms (Pickled & Dried), Pisanki & Scrapbook Supplies, Pierogi Soap, Party Supplies, Regional Folk Dolls, Books ETA: Their business card says their Sunday hours are for Winter only, but I asked and the woman said that after Thanksgiving they might have longer Sunday hours.

If you need gifts with a Polish theme this is the place to go. Interesting just to browse through if you are unfamiliar with Polish culture.

Siva is my go to gal for unique candles, rituals, and bath soaks. I've been using her services for…read moreover a year, and I've never been disappointed. I credit much of my growth to incorporating her goddess candle and bath soaks into my new moon routine. She's intuitive and crafty, when I commissioned her to make candles for my birthday party last year she nailed it. Mind you, I only offered her "sparkly and blue/purple" as descriptors! The candles were periwinkle votives with gold sparkles and a feminine, relaxing scent. Above and beyond usual favors! I am excited for her brick and mortar vision manifesting, and went the opening weekend for a crystal reading. She told me what all the crystals meant and even sent me home with some, as well as Palo Santo and a ritual made just for my current needs. Highly recommend!

Listen, sometimes you just need some goddamn magical healing, okay??? And when that happens,…read moreDetroit, you're lucky enough to have The Pentacle Path right there in person to show you the LIGHT. The light of custom candles, crystals and tarot readings. I've been a longtime fan of The Pentacle Path online store so I was thrilled to find out she has a real shop for tarot readings and more. Well, a sort of pop-up located inside of Supernatural Lingerie, but its her own space and it's comfortable and cool so thats good enough for me. Shiva is so sweet and insightful - she knows her way around a tarot deck, let me tell you. I also appreciate her sincerity and honesty, she has a really refreshing take on all things mystical that even this jaded New Yorker can get behind. I only wish she was on the east coast! So do yourself a favor, fire up those magical crystals and book a session.
