She was always treated with respect and dignity and genuine interest in her daily life. The ladies of the front desk continually smile for the residents and their families and guests. The medical staff was attentive and kind even in difficult moments. The daily staff in all aspects had a smile and were ready to help with any request. I recommend Aegis with all my heart for their kind care.

After evaluating a few places in south Orange County, the family decided to move her into Aegis of Laguna Niguel. The property was very nice and clean, rooms a perfect size and the philosophy to focus on enrichment & stimulation via various activities aligned perfectly with what we were looking for in an assisted living home. To ease the transition from home the team invited my mom and step dad to numerous events around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Every time mom entered the home she would smile as staff and residents would say "hi". Mom was set to move in early January but it became clear by mid-December we needed to move her in earlier, which Aegis quickly pivoted to helping make happen. One day after we had furnished her room in late December and one day before we moved in she fell at home and fractured her hip. Several days after her fall the family made the difficult decision to suspend all interventional treatment and begin end of life care. Mom was transported to Aegis of LN to her room and would spend the last days of her life there in hospice care. While the entire saga was very sad the family can't say enough of the ENTIRE (!!) team at Aegis of LN that helped us from beginning to end. They seamlessly pivoted from welcoming a new long term resident to one that would stay but a brief time. Their coordination with us, the hospital and hospice was simply amazing. Many thanks to Kurt and Marti for introducing us to the facility along with Ingrid, Andrew, Aileen, Jacqueline for their support and care...and everyone else that touched our lives in those last few days. We could see through these interactions that this is more than a job but a calling for all of you. If this is how you treat a loved one in your care for a week we can't imagine what you would have done for mom longer term. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Secondly, you probably already know that almost all of these facilities suck and are many flavors of sketchy. NOT this place. The Orchards gives off a whole different and positive vibe from the start when you walk in the main entrance. Everything is clean, actually clean, even the patient bathrooms, closets, behind the doors, everywhere is clean. The ratio of staff to patients is SO MUCH better than other facilities my family member has been too. I believe there's maximum 50 patients. The bedrooms are next level. They have 4-5 options ranging from a shared room with two people, to completely private with your own bathroom and living room/lounge area, obviously at a higher price point. But even the shared bedrooms are awesome as they have a closet/cabinet that divides the room, not just a sheet. Makes it so much better to have that division. ***Most importantly the Rehab staff is AMAZING!!!*** The amount of effort and thought they put into the individuals rehabilitation program is far greater than any other facility we have been to. They aren't trying to milk the process and allow people to just sit doing non productive activities just so they can bill for it. They're constantly assessing and evolving the game plan as they go. 10/10 best team of therapists. hands down. bar none. The staff communicates extremely clearly and reach out if they have pertinent info in regards to my family members health, progress, and well being. Which is something I've never experienced, usually I have to track people down and it's like pulling teeth to get answers or info. The food is good, and comparably to other places it's the best menu I've seen. Don't get me wrong it's not gourmet living but they have solid options. When you see a plate of food, it actually looks a cooked meal, not school lunch slop. They also have off menu items like sandwiches and what not if your family member is a picky eater. If you got this far in my Mega novel of a review then you obviously are deep in the process and looking for answers. Again, sending you all my good energy and if you can get your family member into The Orchards, don't hesitate and end up in another depressing SH**hole, pull the trigger and give your family member the best chance at success. Much love -Rich

Every single staff member was wonderful and truly went above and beyond. Sara K, Elizabeth (Liz), and Dee were exceptional--compassionate, attentive, and always making sure my mom felt cared for and supported. Heather, Fiona, and Lisa were equally amazing in PT and OT; their expertise, encouragement, and dedication played a huge role in her recovery. Our only regret is that we can't return on a private-pay basis to continue PT/OT, because my mom left stronger than when she arrived. Thank you to the entire Orchards team for your kindness, professionalism, and exceptional care. We highly recommend The Orchards. Thank you again!

Dear Brent and Haley,…read more I hope you are both doing well. Many times I have wanted to reach out and say how grateful we are to have my mom here at Sea Bluffs. I have worked in several residential settings throughout my career: A high school boarding school, college dormitories, and group homes for people with severe mental illness. I know there are many challenges in these types of settings, but from our experience with Sea Bluffs, we (my mom, sister and I) feel like every staff experience we have had in the last year-and-a-half has been top notch. We feel like everyone that works regularly with my mom on the Care Team is so kind, thoughtful, and anticipatory of her needs etc., and we soooo appreciate it. Also the maintenance staff has been very responsive, kind and respectful in all of their interactions, and the dining staff is always wonderful! Some stand outs to me, for what it's worth are Donna, Christine, Carmen, Jay, and Martha. Again, I think everyone's great, but these folks have consistently been excellent. And Jay is literally everywhere all at once :) I truly don't know how Donna does what she does, she has been a phenomenal presence since she was hired shortly after my mom arrived here. Always smiling, always helpful, an excellent communicator, always good at problem solving, always swift acting, always going above and beyond. She is a treasure! And of course with the two of you at the helm of overseeing all the hiring and training and culture building, I'd like to send along my gratitude to the two of you as well! Thanks for everything!

She likes San Juan Capistrano because it is smaller and less crazy than San Diego, where she has been living for over a year. The room rental price quoted at Ivy Park was within her budget and the facility was very nice, along with excellent food. My friend is a survivor of the 2018 Camp Fire in Paradise, and she has some mental- health issues (severe anxiety, etc.) because of that horrible experience. While touring Ivy Park, she met with the director for about 45 minutes and was upfront about her fire survivor experience and her mental health issues. Both the director and the sales person told her that they could help her and wanted my friend to move in ASAP. The sales person even e-mailed a video of the available room. The sales person drove over 200 miles (roundtrip) from Orange County to San Diego to go over forms and to collect a $2,000 deposit check. (The sales person also informed my friend that $4,000 would further be required before moving in.) At the end of the meeting, this sales person stood up and said, "You need to get out of here! If you don't, you could end up in a psychiatric hospital!" About two weeks before, Ivy Park told my friend that an "assessment" had to be done. They sent someone over from a local Ivy Park facility. Again, my friend was upfront about the fire and what she needed. The assessment person told her that they do not provide that kind of support. (This totally contradicted what the director and sales person had said.) The following week another "assessment" was required via telephone. While on this call my friend received another call from the director. He told her that he had changed his mind after reading her Kaiser medical files and since Kaiser could not help her, then they also could not. (We let Ivy Park access my friend's medical files because a TB test was required. I figured it might help and speed up the process if Kaiser sent a recent chest x-ray to the director. While requesting the x-ray, we also thought it might be a good idea--as a courtesy--to let the director also see her medical files. Her files and medical information, though, were used against her to reject her. What perplexes us, also, is the question: Why didn't the director request to see her medical files in the first place? This could have saved us all a lot of wasted travel time, aggravation, etc.) In summary, I am quite upset and angry that both the director and sales person promised to help my friend and let her move in. From the very beginning, my friend was upfront, truthful, and honest about what she is going through and her issues. She did not hold back any information and was looking forward very much to move in and be an Ivy Park resident. This only goes to show that these individuals will say and do anything to try and win a sale, regardless of what a potential resident's needs really are. The only positive thing I can add is Ivy Park did return my friend's $2,000 deposit, after numerous phone calls and text messages.

My grandma moved…read morein on Tuesday to an apartment with no cable TV, despite having the TV ready to go the weekend before her move in. I've visited or called every day to see if they've gotten her cable setup and they appear to be dragging their feet. There is a huge lack of communication between management, maintenance, and front desk staff that delays tasks and doesn't communicate progress with residents or their families. The other day a front desk staff members started clipping her nails while answering my questions with vague answers and "I'll leave a note" for staff who seems to always leave before the end of the day. I can't seem to get straight answers from anyone and I rarely get calls or texts back when I'm promised any. Overall, I'm frustrated with the move in and hope to see some changes in this facility soon. I'll be looking at alternative options if things don't change soon. EDIT: Katy from CSL gave me a call and we had a great chat about some of the frustrations I had regarding the delayed cable installation and communication issues. She also was able to clarify some of my questions and ease my biggest concerns/worries. She is such a sweet and caring woman, and I'm glad we were able to talk. I am very hopeful that things will go more smoothly now that some of the initial move-in bumps have been handled.
