Things get stolen left and right. Nothing they tell you when you go look at the place I is true. They refuse to give a second key to family members even with power of attorney. They aids just sit their talking Spanish to each other and talking about the patient. (They didn't know I understood) instead of caring for patient. The aids then complain if your loved one pushed their call button to much and they share a lot of their complaints with your lived ones which gives them anxiety: even when asked not too they still made a 100 year old women severely anxious about everything all the time. Stay far far far away from this place.

There seemed to be confusion in the sales office between a couple of salespeople, but I didn't realize until I reflected later. We went and saw the property, it was definitely within our means, so we started the process to move mom in. We were given such a run around by them because we were trying to move her in as soon as possible, her Newport Beach house had sold and she needed a new home. There were so many delays and so much bullshit. Her doctor and give the ok for her to go to assisted living, but the LVN and clerical team, decided her doctor didn't know enough and they declared she needed more help and they couldn't assist her. It turned out to be a blessing, because she moved in to Vivante Luxury Assisted living, in Newport near where her home was. We later saw all the complaints against HP, and felt we dodged a bullet. At Vivante they have Chef Prepared meals, so much going on, elegant town car transportation to appointments and excellent care. Before considering HP, sample a meal there and really look at the activities and notice the level of participation. Then look at other spots,like Encinitas, and check out Vivante. You'll be glad you did the research.

They set up the decorations and hosted a special dinner for her with several lady friends that live there. They even made margaritas for the group. If anyone has any interest or questions please feel free to pm me. The place is called Morningstar Senior Living and it's right by the Mission Viejo Mall. I could go on for days about all the activities they do. To me what truly makes the place extraordinary is how kind and loving they are to my mom. They genuinely love her. If anyone is looking for a senior living/ assisted living/ memory care place, I highly encourage you to go on a tour. My mom truly couldn't be happier.

Secondly, you probably already know that almost all of these facilities suck and are many flavors of sketchy. NOT this place. The Orchards gives off a whole different and positive vibe from the start when you walk in the main entrance. Everything is clean, actually clean, even the patient bathrooms, closets, behind the doors, everywhere is clean. The ratio of staff to patients is SO MUCH better than other facilities my family member has been too. I believe there's maximum 50 patients. The bedrooms are next level. They have 4-5 options ranging from a shared room with two people, to completely private with your own bathroom and living room/lounge area, obviously at a higher price point. But even the shared bedrooms are awesome as they have a closet/cabinet that divides the room, not just a sheet. Makes it so much better to have that division. ***Most importantly the Rehab staff is AMAZING!!!*** The amount of effort and thought they put into the individuals rehabilitation program is far greater than any other facility we have been to. They aren't trying to milk the process and allow people to just sit doing non productive activities just so they can bill for it. They're constantly assessing and evolving the game plan as they go. 10/10 best team of therapists. hands down. bar none. The staff communicates extremely clearly and reach out if they have pertinent info in regards to my family members health, progress, and well being. Which is something I've never experienced, usually I have to track people down and it's like pulling teeth to get answers or info. The food is good, and comparably to other places it's the best menu I've seen. Don't get me wrong it's not gourmet living but they have solid options. When you see a plate of food, it actually looks a cooked meal, not school lunch slop. They also have off menu items like sandwiches and what not if your family member is a picky eater. If you got this far in my Mega novel of a review then you obviously are deep in the process and looking for answers. Again, sending you all my good energy and if you can get your family member into The Orchards, don't hesitate and end up in another depressing SH**hole, pull the trigger and give your family member the best chance at success. Sara K, Elizabeth (Liz), and Dee were exceptional--compassionate, attentive, and always making sure my mom felt cared for and supported. Heather, Fiona, and Lisa were equally amazing in PT and OT; their expertise, encouragement, and dedication played a huge role in her recovery. Our only regret is that we can't return on a private-pay basis to continue PT/OT, because my mom left stronger than when she arrived. My grandma moved…read morein on Tuesday to an apartment with no cable TV, despite having the TV ready to go the weekend before her move in. I've visited or called every day to see if they've gotten her cable setup and they appear to be dragging their feet. There is a huge lack of communication between management, maintenance, and front desk staff that delays tasks and doesn't communicate progress with residents or their families. The other day a front desk staff members started clipping her nails while answering my questions with vague answers and "I'll leave a note" for staff who seems to always leave before the end of the day. I can't seem to get straight answers from anyone and I rarely get calls or texts back when I'm promised any. Overall, I'm frustrated with the move in and hope to see some changes in this facility soon. I'll be looking at alternative options if things don't change soon. EDIT: Katy from CSL gave me a call and we had a great chat about some of the frustrations I had regarding the delayed cable installation and communication issues. She also was able to clarify some of my questions and ease my biggest concerns/worries. She is such a sweet and caring woman, and I'm glad we were able to talk. I am very hopeful that things will go more smoothly now that some of the initial move-in bumps have been handled.
