Guanajuato style cuisine that this restaurants flavors definitely represent. What a wonderful surprise in this small Town of Dade city. The decor is authentic, the flavors of Guanajuato Mexico and the food has been consistent. The service could be a bit better as in more attentive. But overall I give this place an 8.5 /10 A must visit if you want to enjoy the flavors of Mexico well Represented in Dade City! read more

Del Carmen was our local go to for all things Mexican food. I had a taste for it since I had been in Dade City earlier in the week, so we decided to go. We both ordered sopes which was our fave here. I ordered one, and my husband ordered the sopes platter with two sopes, rice, & beans, I took his beans with my single sopes. This time the steak tasted different and the flavor wasn't all there. It was ok but definitely have had better ones now. They use to include guacamole too. That's long gone. We ordered a horchata and pineapple agua frescas. Of course these are more expensive and much smaller now. Service was ok but difficult to locate our server. It wasn't too busy either bc it was early in the week. Not sure if we will be back here much. Now I still want more sopes bc this one didn't fill my taste buds for it. Ambiance was loud and echoey with two parties. With a full house, wow bring your headphones bc it will be super intensely loud in case you have sensitive ears like me. read more

When we arrived it took the server a few minutes to greet us. When we got sat she was super friendly and took our drink order. A few minutes later she came back with the drinks and we ordered our food. Our meals came out quick, about a 10 minute wait. The food was mediocre. I didn't really love the beef burrito and the components of the burrito really relied on each other (and the sauce) to make it taste good. The beans were really flat in my opinion, very under seasoned. My husband had the chicken chimichanga and he said it was pretty good but agreed the rice and beans needed something to make them palatable. read more

Loud and the live singer (who is pretty good) makes it very difficult to hear people at your table. 3.99 for a tea (it was good sweet tea... but that is ridiculous $) I had the combination platter it was fairly good with an assortment of tastes. Our Server was very good read more

This is on the Main Street of Dade City and is attached to a Mexican store. We were seated right away. It's cute inside with painted wall scenery, brightly painted tables and chairs. Our server had a great personality. She was pretty busy so not as attentive as she could have been, but it was average. The food was a major disappointment. The chips are thick and bland. Salsa was runny. I had the house burrito with chicken. It was huge, but there were huge chunks of chicken, chewy and bland. It should have been shredded. Coke products but no Coke Zero. Huge drink cups but the beverages are $3.99 each. They had a dinger there in traditional Mexican attire but it was so loud it was difficult to have a conversation. I would not return. read more

The place is nice inside and has a little store, unfortunately the food was okay, the staff moved quickly and took care of us right away.

I've been coming to Del Carmen for well over five years, and it's still great! The food is always on point -- fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned every single time. Serving size is a bit much, but hey lunch for tomorrow! It's the place to go to for Margs. The chips are fine. The service is fast, friendly, and done with purpose, which really adds to the experience. The restaurant itself is well cared for and beautifully decorated with traditional Mexican touches that make it feel warm and inviting. It's the perfect place to relax and enjoy some truly awesome food. In my opinion, it's authentic Mexican cuisine with a hint of Tex-Mex flair. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this is the place to go if you're craving Mexican food in the Dade City area. read more

Food was good, service a little slow but the interior was very fun and interesting. The Avacado cart delivered a delicious Guac. Chips were plentiful and light and tasty. They had some very tasty quesadillas and the chicken taco salad was flavorful and filling. Definitely will return to this restaurant. read more

Not happy. First: food was NOT hot. At best luke warm. Second, when i ask the severer to heat it up it came back just as cold as when I ask to have it heated. Third: my wife ordered a cheese enchilada with added chicken. The enchilada came with chicken and no cheese and it was served very un-hot. There are plenty of Mexican establishments in the area and this isn't one I'd recommend. read more

The place is delicious and huge . They also have a grocery store attached where they sell meats , veggies and lots of goodies . The location is big and clean . The service was great from the front of the house to the servers. We had a chorizo cheese dip trio it was delicious. My chicken burrito was amazing just great flavor and served hot . Sadly some place have great food and the food isn't hot or just room temperature and that kills it but not here . Zero complaints with our meal or service. My husband chicken fajita he said was very flavorful and he was happy he got few tortillas some place give you like 2 or 3 here they have 5 tortillas and he was in heaven . Next time I got try the margaritas they looked delicious. We definitely will be back To eat again . read more

First time at Del Carmen. I was very excited to try this place because my cousin has been here many times and highly recommended it. We actually came here together and it lived up to all the hype :) I get a sense/feel for a place as soon as I walk in. When I walked into Del Carmen I immediately felt "home". This place doubles as a market AND restaurant!!! We walked in through the back and they have EVERYTHING that screams Mexico ! A plethora of things/options! From piñatas hanging from the ceiling to artisan gifts/ceramics, Mexican candy... and more. They have a "takeout" window as soon as you walk in and a section for indoor/sit in dining.I ventured off after eating and it just kept getting better. They have a small section with fresh made "pan dulce" (bread) and a ramp that leads to a "meat shop"...oh but there's more! Lol....behind that there's another section with cowboy hats, boots and traditional (Mexican)women and men's clothing. I mean, they have it ALL. I was in awe! Ok, let's get to the food because it was very delicious. As a Mexican who actually grew up visiting Mexico earth summer and had home cooked traditional/from scratch Mexican meals, I'm not picky but definitely selective. They have a pretty extensive menu. I had the chicken mole and it was actually VERY delicious. The salsa for the chips was a bit watery and bland for my taste but overall the mole being that good made up for it. Their horchata is also very yummy. I like it with a bit more cinnamon but it was still very good. Service was very prompt despite it being crowded for lunch! I will definitely be returning and before finishing my review I must say the ambiance/decor/aesthetic was my absolute favorite! I love the colorful vibrance that is so true to our culture. They have beautifully crafted chairs with Mexican icons painted on the back of some of the chairs throughout the restaurant. Overall great experience! Highly recommend a visit here! read more

I've had this spot book marked for so many years and just finally got the opportunity to get in the area and give it a try. Located an a cute downtown centric area, I had no problem finding parking on the street on a Sunday afternoon. This is a restaurant / bodega so don't forget to stop in the attached store after your meal. Plenty of seating, this is a pretty spacious restaurant. I was seated immediately. Service was friendly albeit a bit slow. Pisole is served on the weekends so I had to go for a bowl. It was a large serving for $13.99 easily enough to take home some for lunch the next day. The broth is rich with chicken flavor. This has definitely been stewing for hours. The chicken itself was not flavorful and a tad bit dry but the Verde soup and hominy was really good. I also ordered three tacos with rice and beans to take home. Wash all this down with a Modelo especial and I call it a good meal. The attached Bodega has so much variety and almost everything you could need for a nice Mexican meal at home. I really enjoyed my meal here and we'll absolutely revisit when in the area. read more

The customer service was amazing. The waitress was friendly and helpful with us even after taking a little than longer in deciding what to eat. The menu all looks delicious! My husband and I had the the fajitas sampler (steak, chicken , and shrimp) for two and it was a lot food! The steak, shrimp and chicken were all soft and tender and juicy. My husband had a Modelo beer and I had a lemonade. Everything was brought out in a timely manner. The margaritas the other patrons were having did look good though!! The ambience for a Saturday evening was excellent! There were both small and large groups eating and the music was not loud. My favorite part of this restaurant aside from the food was the decor. The booths, chairs and the paintings on the walls were all authentic Mexican decor. I definitely recommend eating at Del Carmen if you are in the area. Oh, and the Mexican market is full of authentic Mexican products! I felt like I was back home read more

This was our first time here, but we definitely need to come back to try more entrees. The decor inside is super cute. They have beautiful frescos on all of the walls, and all of the chairs & tables are painted differently. Their chips & salsa were so good. Service was excellent. Everyone in our party of 5 loved the food that they ordered. I highly recommend the molcajete & ribs in green sauce. Their sangria is good too. I need to come back to try their Pozole (weekend special) & tamales. We live an hour away from Dade City, but it's definitely worth the drive. read more

Came in with a group of 5 after the lunch rush yet service was slow, service was with a smile and friendly but slow! Obviously a kitchen problem not a dining staff problem. Waited an hour our food arrived with a smile, but the food was cold. Great decor, attached to a market with sweet pastries and fresh vegetables. Might give them a second chance in hopes we came on a bad day. Enjoyed the old Florida roads through north eastern PASCO county into Dade City more than my lunch. read more

I went here for lunch with my daughter . The place was not busy. It took a while for our food to come and when it did it was cold . The chicken in my burrito was so tough I couldn't chew it and the sauce over it tasted like ravioli sauce . I mentioned to my server who seen I only tried a bite she only said sorry and walked away. She never came by for refills on our drinks and we had to ask for our check . Terrible food and customer service . I don't recommend a waste of money . read more

I have given them three tries and all have been subpar and the last one took the cake. Takes forever, food comes cold, so cold the cheese thrown on the beans will not melt at all. They nickel and dime you to death! My daughter's quesadilla came with a little tiny squirt of sour cream, we asked for more and they charged $1.99 for some extra... I got a bean taco, beans in a flour tortilla, that's it - $5 and it came out mildly warm, by the time they brought me the sauce to go on it 10 minutes later -stone cold. Lastly, my daughter ordered veggie fajitas, it came with weird vegetables like carrots and celery?!? So no protein, just some random veggies and some flour tortillas - $18.99 !!!!! I asked them how they felt this was ok and they could have cared less... NEVER EVER AGAIN... GO TO TACO BELL, SOOO MUCH BETTER AND WAY CHEAPER! read more

Ambiance = 5 stars Wait time = 4 stars Food at times = 3.5 to 3.9 stars but the past 3 times this year ... * The rice always tastes old, stale, not freshly made. * Some of the enchiladas are anemic, raw corn tortillas with bland cheese filling. Only the red onions on top saved it. * The refried beans were like generic and tasteless. Thinking about trying another Mexican place next time read more

Best place. Store is fabulous. Food spectacular. churros and horchata wicked awesome. Just go

The first time my husband and I went it was good. This time it was not. We got seated pretty quick despite of it being full which was good. It was very noisy. I don't remember the chips being that thick. It didn't taste good. They gave us 2 bowls of salsa, we thought one was spicy and the other is not spicy, but they were the same. I ordered the chicken enchilada and my husband ordered chicken chimichanga. It was mediocre. The beans was very bland and had no taste. My food was cold. The only good thing I can say is our drinks were nice and cold and the decor is pretty and colorful. I'm not sure if they changed chef. I'm not sure if I will be back. Sorry. read more

Food was kind of bland; the chicken in the fajitas was skinny and dry. We come here about once a month because my daughter likes the nachos, and service is usually okay; however, our server (Elias) was rude and literally forgot our food. We've enjoyed Del Carmen every time we visit this area from San Diego, several times a year for the past 4 years. We love the look of the place, we buy groceries, and the food's been excellent. And this last time was a disappointment. The hostess seemed unhappy to be there, the margaronas (which we looked forward to!) were undrinkably sweet, the music way too loud, the chips were rock hard, and 3 of our 4 dishes were inferior. The shrimp fajitas were excellent - that's why 3 stars instead of 2. read more

It is a restaurant? It is a grocery store? It is Cowboys store? Del Carmen is all three. Del Carmen has many face depends which corner you turn. I would consider this is the Disneyland in Dade City. I was impressed with the grocery store at the main entrance. Once you are in there, the piñata is decorated over your head. There are some sundry fruit candy display on the side. They also have the fried pork skin by the weight also. The Cowboys section is located on the right of the grocery section. They carry the cowboys booth, hat, dress and more. You can try to yew haw a day here since they have the cowboys products. The restaurant is the major attraction in this store. The wall is paint with Mexican scene. The decorations is crazy. I like the painted wall with amingo. I have ordered the grill tilapia with rice and bean. It is delicious. I also order the watermelon juice that is very refreshing. Thanks to a yelp friend that host the lunch get together here before the Halloween park. We have good time here. read more

This was an interesting establishment. When I was researching it I wasn't sure if it was a grocery store or a restaurant. Turns out that it's both! I was meeting some other people here and was the first to arrive so I had some time to poke around the grocery store. Near the front door they had coolers full of frozen treats and ice cream. The thing that really caught my eye was the chamoyadas. I was too full when I left to have one, but now I regret not trying one anyway. They looked really good. The restaurant seats a lot of people. Before your entrée comes out they bring you chips and salsa. I liked the salsa, but the chips were too thick and hard for my taste. I got a grilled chicken breast and really enjoyed it. The flavor was excellent and they gave me a lot of rice and beans on the side. The bathroom situation was pretty dreadful. For the entire restaurant there is only one toilet. Not only was the sink clogged, but the only way to wash your hands was with a bar of soap. Gag. I was initially confused about where to park to come here. If you look at a satellite view of it you'll see that there is actually a very large parking lot behind it. Head for that if you're coming here. read more
