Such a great option for lunch when you are at 12th st beach. The food is pretty good, the service is quick and the staff is nice. My daughter and I had a little beach day and at lunchtime we ordered a plain cheeseburger and their chicken tenders and fries. The food was good, exactly what you'd expect from a beachside food stall. I love that there is a bit of seating right next to it, but my guess is most sit and eat on the sand. The prices are a bit high but nothing too crazy. We will for sure order here again on our next beach day. read more

We came here for lunch after spending some time in the Field museum. It has plenty of picnic tables out at the front. It's also right next to the public bathroom. So it's pretty convenient. Food wise we got the beef quesadilla and al pastor nacho. The total came down to about $28. Beef quesadilla was ok. Al pastor nacho had little meat inside. I forgot I ordered Al pastor until James mentioned it because I didn't see any meat until the bottom of the paper bowl. The taste was ok. I guess you can't expect too much from a food stand like this. read more

the food is okay at most its as if chipotle was somewhat serious in mexican cuisine, the price definitely does not match the quality of the food, i got a torta and it barely had any of the components of an authentic torta, and shredded cheese that i already know is from aldi, seriously guys? at least melt it if you're going to charge 13 bucks. The service is meh the lady half of the time isnt even there shes nice but shes never there. read more

Located in near the Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium so expect prices to be high. Was trying to grab a small bite with my party. Chicago Style Hot Dog - first time trying. Different. Chicken Tenders - Small portions of chicken. Wouldn't get it unless you really need to supress the hunger. Corn in a cup - $6. Was actually pretty good. read more

This is my second good experience within 10 minutes! My first one was not the greatest (a different food vendor) but thank goodness for del campo tacos to the rescue! The staff here was nice and outgoing.their food was delicious. I live the fact that they have Ana collocation and a food truck. They placed food truck in the shade next to seating and shade. A must try is the cheesy flaming hot Cheetos. This place was delicious if you are looking for a quick bite to eat. :-) read more

The restaurant is located at 12th Street Beach. This makes it easy to buy food and beverages without leaving the beach. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommend for families visiting the lakefront or the museums. The pictures show the lakefront location but there are more locations by the Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum. read more

I was thirsty and wasn't trying to spend much so I decided to just buy 2 16oz waters. Why is 2 waters $10.40. The entire 24 pack cost $7 but you think it's a fair price to charge $5 for each one? What a complete joke! read more

Museum Campus location- First off the kid taking the order is telling everyone hes a racist - second, these are about 2 bite tacos for $5.00 each.. with almost no flavor ,go elsewhere- they should be embarrassed to serve/sell these in a city with amazing Mexican cuisine.. read more

$10 for an asada burrito, you'll think "ok I'll try"! Never again! If you are ok with a $10 burrito filled with mainly beans and lettuce and some sprinkle of asada (with veins) and a really BAD TASTE! go ahead pay $10! Worst of all was the customer service, they serve you as if they were giving you the food for free! Overpriced I understand in downtown, but just for beans and bad chicken tenders, and TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, no thanks! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE PLACE! read more

It's so convenient having a taco restaurant right on the lake! We had a little bit of a wait, but the main disappointment was I ordered a quesadilla and it was almost $10 and I was only given half of one - that's apparently how they serve it (only using one tortilla). I ordered the El Pastor one and the flavor was great, but I was a little surprised at the cost for what I received. The view of the lake was great, though! read more

Really nice addition to the 12th street beach, this family run joint serves basic beach food. My daughter got a hotdog and icecream bar while I enjoyed their horchata which was refreshing after a long bike ride. We will be stopping a few times over the summer for sure! read more

Food is over priced for kid sized portions and the staff is very unwelcoming and rude.

Food prepared ad served by teenagers without mask. $6 nachos consisting of a small handful stale, costco cornchips, 4 small slices of jalapeños and some watered down version of cheese from a can. Tacos have shrunken to minimal bite size (about 3") for $4 each. Carne asada is chewy and reheated. The kid at window also was making odd faces at us like we were bothering him with an order. The whole experience was concerning. My main concern was the no mask. I hope we don't get sick. read more

Visited the museum campus location by the Shedd Aquarium. Wanted a quick bite and got some chicken tenders with fries and ranch. For the chicken tenders, you get about 5 small finger sized pieces. Unfortunately the tenders were a bit overcooked and had no flavor. Ranch was strangely yellow, so I threw that away. Fries looked ok but also had no flavor. Not worth the ~$10 spent on it... read more

My nachos were too salty and too soupy, yet also kind of bland. My son rejected his quesadilla, and when I tasted the cheese, I couldn't really blame him. Even grading on the curve of beach food, I'd rate this as below average. read more

I wish I could leave negative stars. This place is just horrible. First the service is very unprofessional and the food is just disgusting. We spent $17 on total garbage. Elote (Corn in a Cup) was just gross the cheese tasted like cardboard and the rest of it was just dry. The funnel cake was literal pieces, it wasn't even a cake and the ice cream was nasty. The toppings for it was only a small scoop of this off brand vanilla ice cream and powdered sugar. Then here's where it got worse. So we also bought a cup of "fresh fruit". That fruit cup was expired and disgusting. It you want some real good street food go further downtown because this place is just horrible. I do not recommend trying any of the things we tried. Horrible experience, ruined my beach day. read more

My fiancé and I were wandering the beach and needed a snack. We stopped here and decided to share the nachos. They were a tad expensive for the amount of nachos we got but the carne Assad's was good and tender. The marinade was pretty good as well. We ate at the Museum Campus Location. Expensive, dirty, food had no flavor, customer service was terrible. I asked for napkins and a cup and they said they could not give us cups... I also just noticed they charged me for 3 sodas ($5 each) when I only had 1... my fault for not doublechecking the check.... I would not go again nor I would recommend it. read more

Stopped by here after biking the Lakefront Trail. This is located by the beach (12 Street beach) that is on the left of the Planetarium. They have a pretty good selection of food and snacks for a reasonable price. Elote (corn on a cob or cup) is $3. My friends who came with ordered tacos and tortas. They said it was good. Purchased nachos from their truck the other day. The menu said they included guacamole and jalapeno but those were nowhere to be found. Chicken was cold, chips were stale, and this pile of disappointment cost me $14. To top it off, no one in the truck was wearing a mask. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Had a pretty aweful hotdog, and I went and complained about it when we returned to the area, I asked them if they could remake it. But they said they would have to charge me a new hotdog.. the hotdog was raw, like not cooked just warm. It was disgusting and disappointing because Chicago Style Hotdog was advertised. Theres a few other places near this little guy, I wish I went somewhere else in retro spect. The guy was not apologetic about anything clearly he was pissed that I didnt bring the hotdog back and he made it seem like I was trying to eat my way a new hotdog. Ur hotdog was uncooked, I told him, its $4. I also bought a churro, but that was ok. The hotdog meat was uncooked and chewy and rubbery, idk how on earth they could serve it. But, at the same time, they get the net flow Of SHEDD AQUARIUM customers, being right out back. Anyways, I hope they could not be super stingy and serve good food in the future as I am laying down with a stomach ache. read more

Went here yesterday, menu is small. My food here was terrible. I ordered something very simple. Hotdog fries and a coke. I was charge 11 dollars. ELEVEN DOLLARS FOR WHAT. I get my food and my hot dog bun is soaking wet. Don't know why. The Hotdog isn't any good. Then my fries are bogus asf. I can tell my fries were the fries on the bottom of the bag. Most of my fries are squished and broken In half. And they had no ice. I went to complain but I failed to realize theirs a sign all the way in the back where you can see it " no exchanges or refund" but I didn't see the sign that said " our food is trash eat at your own risk!!" And now, I have the runs. Now for the person I was with got tacos. She said they were good but then later came home to throw them all up. So it's probably not the cleanest place. Oh yea, usually other places don't charge for substitute for water. This place does. Beware. read more

This place used to be great, but is run by the laziest, rudest family you've ever encountered. They kept acting like we were inconveniencing them by eating there even though we were friendly and tipped well, and they've ended table service apparently permanently so in order to sit in the seating area and eat you have to make a giant detour to walk around to the front and stand in line for each drink or food item. When we left the beach, after having spent about $100 at this taco place, we asked for a little bag to store some sea glass in, and they acted like we were the most annoying people in the world. When I apologized to them for interrupting their fucking picnic to serve us, the owner threatened me with a walking stick. These people are scum. Update: the owner just responded to my Facebook review claiming my wife, who was served water only at the restaurant and had zero alcohol at all today, was drunk. Classy. Update 2: my response to the owner's preposterous allegation in the facebook review thread that my wife was drunk was also deleted by him. This guy seriously has no shame at all, I never even mentioned the expired baked Cheetos we were served and the aggressively oversalted meat. Not only can he not behave with respect towards clients and women, but he can't run a restaurant either. read more

There's this taco stand in front of Shedd Aquarium. Go get that!!!! It's a mouthful of joy in front of a museum of coy. We tried the al pastor, the carne asada & the chorizo/potato tacos: all were amazing! The owner/cook was super nice and chatted our ears off about his menu, recipes and locations. It was a shame to pretend that I knew any of the streets he mentioned, or that I'm from Chicago and will have any real opportunity to explore his company further. No matter. My single experience was yummy enough to last a lifetime. read more

The food was good, but just too expensive. $4 for a simple carne asada in a corn tortilla. Lemonade was not even cold, so it got warm after 5 mins. No Ice in my lemonade. $4 for a plain hot dog (charged the same for the Chicago dog). Pretzel was ok, not enough salt. The view of the 12th Street Beach was what made it ok. Went on the 4th of July so it was extremely busy. read more

This joint is right on the 12th St beach. It's a small spot but the steak tacos are some of the best in the city. The chef literally cooks the steak on the grill behind the restaurant. He's a really nice person and says that most people end up ordering twice because they weren't expecting the tacos to be so good. I usually have the steak tacos and that's what this review is all about: the meat is seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The corn tortillas are a little crispy but still soft. Onion and cilantro plus some hot sauce is all you need on it. The Mexican style corn is also good but it's more of an indulgence. So if you're near the museum campus it's a must stop. I kid you not, I don't mess around with bad tacos and this spot is legit. read more

Had a really great experience the employees were very kind and the food was amazing! Highly recommend the tacos!

Del Campo is one of the South Loop's best hidden gems! Perched perfectly on the coast of 12th Street Beach, they have a full menu of American / Mexican cuisine. With the addition of their back patio with outdoor seating, Del Campo is a great snack stop on a warm Saturday or Sunday summer afternoon while walking the lakeshore. Their Elote is absolutely delicious! They usually don't have it "on the cob," but in the cup is just as satisfying and way less messy. read more

I recently went to an event that had a De Campo food truck in it. The staff was extremely rude, they were yelling at the customers to have their order ready, the menus didn't have what kind of meat they had so customers couldn't have their orders ready. They also didn't have any churros like advertised and the walking taco bag had vegetables on the pictures with jalapeños and cheese, I told them I didn't want any meat in it and got a Dorito bag with just cheese. This was $11 and you got about half of the chips you get in a $1 bag of Doritos. Please don't go here. read more

I love this place. We went to one of the stands and got tacos while walking in front of the aquarium. Met the owner who was so nice and told us about the stand by the beach. Just came back from hanging out on the patio planned on having one taco and ended up having five! The steak taco is amazing and there red sauce and salsa verde is really good. But then the owner brought us out the al pastor and the mango sauce. Im not a fan of al pastor normally, ive tried it dozens of times at other places and never been impressed but this one was so good. And with that mango sauce it was incredible.
