Great place for kids to learn discipline and patience. Every belt is earned here and not given, setting this place apart from the rest.

I have about 6 years of prior martial arts training, so I know what a properly run school looks like. That's why I recognized very quickly that something was off here. I signed up and prepaid for a 3-month Kendo program. At enrollment, I was told it would be 4-6 months before needing a uniform and longer before investing in gear. That changed almost immediately. By week two, I was told to buy a uniform, and by week three I was asked to prepay for a full year. At that point, I stopped training after about three weeks. Months later, after repeated follow-ups and having to go in person to push the issue, I finally got the uniform ordered. When it arrived, I was told it had been given to someone else--even though I had already paid for it. I was also told I would receive a partial refund in March. That never happened. I returned once more to try to finish what I had already paid for, but the class itself reflected the same issues--disorganized instruction, students unsure of forms, and basic oversights (such as forgetting required gear mid-class). I walked out. For me, this wasn't just about money--it was the consistent gap between what was said and what actually happened, along with ongoing pressure to pay more early on. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dojo. I would strongly advise anyone considering training here to ask very direct questions up front and think carefully before committing financially.

Where do I even start on this place. First off when you sign up you have to sign a contract that says even when you quit you have to pay for 3 months. Ok, we all understand what we're signing. But then later on they say it's "MANDATORY" that your kid has to have a certain gee in order to participate on certain days, the days in which their calendar says they can go. But the bad part in all of this is that YOU have to pay an extra $120 for your kid to have this certain gee! That my friends is a breach of contract. But these clowns don't care they still send you to collections. The Sensai is a Joke. She makes you think that she's actually gonna teach the classes, but NOPE. Out of 8 months she was there maybe 20 percent of the time, and out of that time she rarely taught. When the kids are in session they really don't teach the kids anything, they just show them how to do it, they don't teach them. There's a difference. So in 8 months of this garbage, the kids really don't know anything. But why would they want to actually teach the correct way to do it? If they did the kids would come along faster and they wouldn't need to pay for as long as they are for lessons. Oh yeah, many of the lessons are taught by a 13 year old. They didn't let anyone in on this little bit of info. I don't care what degree belt the kid is, he's a frecking minor and i didn't agree to pay for it. ALLLLLLLLL the extras they try to sell you. If you think your kids school is bad with sending something home every week trying to raise money, then say away from this place. In order for the kids to have fun and go to the sparring class you have to buy THEIR gear at 300 bucks. The same exact crap is online for about 55 including shipping. They hose you for tshirts at 35 bucks a piece. They constantly ask you to bring in your friends so they can con them into their classes. And i'm not even mentioning all the different "Nights" that they try to sell you. At the end of the day, it was a huge mistake to sign up, and even a bigger mistake to stay as long as we did. i have so much more to say, but will leave it for another time.

I spoke to Dallas in the spring and explained that my six-year-old daughter has moments of high emotion and might need extra support. I let him know I was available at a moments notice to give her my support if needed. After a lengthy conversation I was assured she would be welcome. She went for almost two weeks and loved it. Then one morning she had a meltdown because she was sad her friend was in a different group, and she needed extra emotional support from the counselors. I was called to come back, which I did immediately. When I arrived she was in the hallway talking to a counselor and looked like she'd been crying. I thanked the counselor and took my daughter to a room where there were art supplies so we could talk and draw while she worked through her feelings. Dallas came in and said that it had required several counselors to give her support and they didn't have the resources for that. Because of the previous conversation we'd had in the spring, I took it more as a complaint rather than she was being kicked out - my fault, I guess. When she calmed down and wanted to go back in, I took her back to where the kids were playing and she rejoined the program. As I was leaving I ran into Dallas and told him what was happening. At that point he said no, she needs to leave, we don't have the resources to support her. There was no kindness, no second chances. He just kicked a six-year-old out. I had to go get her and drag her out while she sobbed and asked why she wasn't allowed to stay. I wouldn't wish the heartbreak and rejection my daughter felt that day on anyone. I emailed Dallas to remind him of the conversation we'd had in the spring, and told him I was disappointed with the lack of care and kindness shown to my daughter. It's been almost a week and he's never responded. I pulled my older child from the camp, and I don't think we'll return. My son keeps asking why they let kids who bully and hit other children stay, but kicked out my daughter. I have no good answer.
