Today we learned 5 attacks from open guard, a triangle from mount, how to secure hands from back, and an effect guard pass by stacking then passing the hand behind the back. He then let me and my friend roll and then he gave me three pointers: scissor and grab leg, don't let the guy sit up and sweep me, and another move to escape. Highly recommend coming here!

I'm so glad I finally started - and at this school. Josh is pretty amazing, very patient, very instructive. The assistant teachers are also really great to learn from. But it's not just the great teachers here, it's the whole class and environment. There's nobody here trying to prove how tough they are, everybody is very kind, very welcoming. This is exactly the right kind of environment to learn in. I've also put both of my daughters in class, with great results. Both of them have shown real improvement in their behavior and their grades, and I know this class is part of that. They're still a teen and a preteen, so, yeah... but there's something about the class that is just helping them all around. The girls are also taking the striking class - with Kathy Long. As in, with champion kickboxing champion and movie star Kathy Long. It's pretty spectacular. All the jiu jitsu and striking they can learn is all just one price. I can't recommend this class enough, for kids or adults.

Master Sung is an extraordinary instructor. He teaches with a deep sense of respect--offering it first, not demanding it--and it creates an atmosphere where discipline feels meaningful and uplifting rather than intimidating. He carries himself as though it's an honor for him to teach you, and that attitude naturally inspires students to give their best. Before my class, I regularly see him working with the younger children. His patience is consistent and genuinely admirable. He is fully present, correcting form, encouraging effort, and managing different skill levels at the same time with ease. Every student gets attention, and every child is treated with care and dignity. Each adult class is unique, thoughtfully structured, and creatively taught. Master Sung keeps us engaged, challenged, and progressing while still making the learning experience fun. The black belts who help run his classes share the same respectful, supportive spirit--they treat helping you as an honor, and you can feel that sincerity. I've truly enjoyed my time at USTT. If you're a parent looking for a school where your child will be guided with patience, respect, structure, and authentic martial arts values, USTT is exceptional. And as an adult student, I can say the teaching is every bit as inspiring.
