Dr. DeJean is our neighbood dentist just up the street . I am always happy to go in for a check up, or dental work. He is a great Dentist who loves what he does and is extremely talented. My Polish wife also goes to him. (Her nickname for him, ouside the office is "Billy Jean" it sounds funny when she says it.) Anyway, Dr. DeJean is a great judge of character and he realizes that people are already stressed when they go into a dentist office. He is funny and fun to talk with. He connects easily with people and I would recommend this great man and great Dentist to anyone. After a year and a half of neglecting my poor, purty mouth I decided to visit my neighborhood dentist. The same neighborhood dentist with all the kooky decorations in the lobby and windows. My last dentist was this pretentious guy in a high rise off of Michigan avenue. His staff wasn't all that great either. Hell, I didn't even get a goodie bag. Who does that?! Needless to say, William was a nice change. The first thing he noticed was this horrid shadow on one of my molars. He did a fantastic job numbing the whole left side of my jaw. I didn't know how bad the decay was until he started drilling....and drilling...and drilling. William is all about educating his clients, so he hands me a mirror. I take a look and SWEET BABY MOSES. I thought my tooth was a goner. Done. I'll need a root canal, dentures, tooth extraction, the whole nine yards. Miraculously enough, I still didn't feel anything. Props to you William. He starts filling in this massive tooth canyon. He could tell I was nervous about the procedure, so the guy starts doing this SPOT ON Cartman impression. Oh and Mad TV's Kenny Rogers. He does a great impression of him too. Great way to cut the tension. Before long, he smooths everything out and we're done! He also gives me my goodie bag. YAAS. I'll definitely be back, William. Dr. Dejean has been such a blessing! As the office is right down the street from where I live, I pass it often and have always admired its charm. As a smaller office, it carries so much character, similar to those that I recall from independent dentists from my youth. A fish tank, seasonal decorations, warm inviting colors, it's a welcome change from stuffy office buildings I've had work done in the past. My partner needed an extraction and doesn't have insurance, and he was referred to Dejean by a friend stating that he would work with anyone to find a solution. He made a consultation appointment, felt very pleased and was happy to move forward with the extraction, which went very well and caused minimal pain and side effects. This led to him referring Dejean to another friend of ours, who also had a very positive experience. A little while after, I broke a molar. It was 4:45 p.m. on a Friday, and as I was in the area, I figured - why not stop in just in case. I came in (clearly in pain) and Dr. Dejean was wrapping up his week and cleaning, and I explained what happened. Without hesitation, he simply said he needed to clean up but would be happy to see me. He also remembered my partner and ask very genuinely how he was doing. He brought me back very quickly after, and immediately identified the issue. Unfortunately, I had a severe cavity and required a specialist for the type of root canal work I would needed to proceed with, but that didn't stop him from doing everything he could to make sure I was comfortable. He gave me a full consultation, took his time to talk and get to know me and my dental history, and quickly identified some other issues I had with my teeth. He clearly is very skilled and experienced. He did some work on my teeth to make sure I could chew and not further break and was gentle and efficient while doing so. I don't have the best dental hygiene and was self-conscious, but he consoled me and treated me with such care and respect. He referred to me to a specialist (who was amazing) and sent me on my way with antibiotics to not further compound the issue. My positive experience with him was far from over. I had given him inaccurate insurance information, which in the past has just resulted in bills that come months later. Not such with Dejean. He called and texted and very patiently worked with me to get things correct, but all the while the most important thing to him was that I got the antibiotics and rest. Its clear he cares about his patients and not just money. He worked with me even further to call my insurance as well as the specialist and see that I got the work I needed. My dental issues are far from over, but I look forward to going back for more of his excellent care! read more

To all you naysayers about Dr. DeJean, shame on you. He is by far the best dentist I have ever been to. I have horrible teeth and they just seem to get worse and worse. I need a good dentist that knows that they are doing or else I would not have any teeth. He has worked with me and has made my smile the best it has been in years. Also, I look forward to my visits with Dr. DeJean, he definitely makes the gut-wrenching experience of having your teeth prodded, scraped, and drilled quite pleasant. I always have wonderful conversations with him while I am being worked on and have even smiled and laughed when in extreme pain. He is a great dentist and a great person in general. He definitely knows how to work with people. I recommend him to everyone I know. Also, his office manager, Maria, is very friendly and very professional. Since I develop cavities so fast, she helped me out even though they were super booked. If I had to wait until next year, I would end up spending my holidays in extreme pain. read more

I would warn those coming to Dr Dejean - stay away, or at least take what he says with a grain of salt. I came here based on a referral of a friend. Dr. Dejean doesn't charge copayments (perhaps against insurance company agreement), but I'm sure he makes much more off the insurance companies. The worst part was I don't feel I can trust him - he told me I needed braces or my jaws would have problems when I was older. Also, he told me I'd need major restorative work, crowns, and rambled on for a bit about it. Now, I consider myself fairly educated and work in the medical field myself, but I had a hard time following all the procedures he listed. Now, I wasn't feeling any tooth pain or anything, so I was skeptical and decided not to have any work done, ignoring his doomsday scenarios of what might happen if nothing was done. I don't think his receptionists calls to my cell phone for me to come "take advantage of my insurance benefits before they expire" helped his trustworthiness either. On further examination of his record on google it seems he has been cited for double billing insurance companies. I switch dentists to another highly recommended on yelp and by outside dental reviewers, and sure enough, there's no problems on examination by both the dentist and dental hygienist. Dr Dejean is super sketchy - I'd stay away. read more

went to this guy in the 1998-2000 era two occasions for teeth cleaning. the first time he x-rayed, scraped and polished my teeth, it was all right, but I could tell that when i mentioned my insurance provider his eyes lit up and he was like "oh let me to this and check that" then i made an appt for six months later for a follow up cleaning. when i was in there he looked at my record, looked in my mouth for about 2 min and was like "what are you in here for, your teeth look fine" no polish, no scrape, no nothing. nothing but a bill! read more

I can't speak for others, but if this story isn't the truth, may It be stricken from the record. I had a broken tooth and no insurance during college in 2008-2009. I neglected my tooth in between episodes of Lost, chugging Red Bull and Art shit that you'll never understand. Once the temperature had dropped below 0 in November, my exposed nerve ending decided to scream out in pain, till the point It began to grow an infection. Moral of the story, no matter what, you think you can herbal remedy away with raw onion and mouthwash, get yourself to a medical professional. I originally had thought "I'll just stop in here and get this Dr. Dejean fellow to give me a script for penicillin and skid-addle. But Dr. Dejean and his giant animatronic Easter Bear had a different plan. I told him up front I had no insurance, but I really just needed the antibiotic. He agreed, but said there is no way, this isn't going to happen again, and multiple scripts of antibiotics will probably kill me. I had a mouth full of what felt like a second tiny body that was dying in my head so I agreed to whatever this gentleman wanted. He gave me the script, and a referral to an Orthodontic Surgeon in the Water Tower offices that was bangarang, but I don't remember his name because I was really dopped for that visit. That was excruciating and felt like a thousand tiny swords being stabbed into your jawbone, but they are medical professionals that really do know what they are doing. After I spent my credit limit on my credit card out of pocket for the root canal, Dr. Dejean gave me an amazing deal for my perfect porcelain crown. While he was fitting it for the blunt end mold he recited to me in perfect character, lines from Joss Whedon's ill-fated "Firefly" series which I had not seen. He also gave me an extra $20 off my bill to go buy "Firefly" from Amazon.com. What a guy! When I had the final crown placed, he told me it was the best seated crown he had ever seen. I was extremely relieved and felt a fool for waiting so long. Thank you Dr. DeJean for helping me in my lowest hour. And now the steps towards getting a perfect fitting crown. 1. Listen to the Dental professional 2. Bite down as hard as you can so that your teeth fit together, you are making a mold impression of the tooth opposite your bad tooth, so you SHOULD want this thing to fit like a glove. I imagined it like this; " Leave a good impression so that when people in 5555 dig your dead ass out of the plastic avalanche of 2020 they'll be able to tell everything about you from the microchip implanted in your dental work. 3. If it doesn't fit well it's your own damn fault and you should be ashamed. read more

Dr DeJean's style is more laid back than most of the other dentists around, so if you want a stuffy or clinical feel, you should probably go somewhere else. He's not for everyone, but he's the right dentist for me. He really seems to care about my teeth, my comfort level and keeping my fees to a minimum. What more could you ask for? read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Dejean's for approximately five years. I can truthfully say that he is great at what he does. I have had problems with my teeth for a while and went to see Dr. Dejean on a whim. He is very detailed in his examination and provides a very cost effective pricing policy. He bills insurance companies for only the procedures that are appropriate and ensures that you review the bill. I have recommended quite a few of my friends to Dr. Dejean and they have all come away with fantastic results. I have brilliantly white teeth and am free of pain. Dr.DeJean is the most wonderful dentist I have ever been to. He is very kind and nice and performs painless dentistry. I was reading a review bellow written by an unhappy patient by the name of Felix H, and here is one think I want to tell this Mr.Felix: If you do have two dental insurances, from two different jobs,or one from your job and another one from your wife's job, it is absolutly legal for Dr.DeJean to bill both of them: one insurance will pay the charges for the procedures you had done, and the other insurance will pay the copay that otherwise you would have had to pay. So that's why you had "no copayment" as you stated, and that's absolutly legal too, when you have two dental insurances. Dr.DeJean is very professional and a highly skilled dentist. You were so lucky to have been his patient. I highly recommend Dr.DeJean to all the people who want to have a wonderful dental experience !!! read more
