If any bride or groom is even the slightest bit concerned about how their wedding pictures will turn out, look no further than DejaVu Studios. After growing up hearing the tragic story about how my parents' wedding photographer lost almost every snapshot from their wedding, I was extremely nervous about picking the right people to capture our day. The first time we went to the studio, we were so overwhelmed with wedding errands that we completely forgot to schedule an appointment before arriving! Our future photographer Brian, answered the door and laughed with us over this mistake. Even though he was off the clock, he immediately invited us in for an impromptu appointment, showed us his previous work and answered our numerous questions. We felt comfortable discussing how we preferred more spontaneous and unposed pictures over the typical wedding shots, and he assured us about all the precautions that DejaVu takes to insure the best pictures possible and how they wouldn't lose our pictures because they make sure to back up their work. We excitedly made an appointment to book Brian and discuss additional details with Alan, whose expertise with this process and professionalism further cemented our decision to book both our photography and videography with DejaVu. On our wedding day, I didn't worry once about the pictures being taken around me. As the unofficial additional photographer for all of my friends and family members' weddings, this was an unprecedented accomplishment. My guests commented how polite the photographers and videographers were and how they "just seemed to be everywhere capturing every moment of the night." They made each photo request a reality time after time and put up with our rambunctious wedding party. When it was finally time to look at our pictures, Jen called me from the studio and sounded as excited as I was to check them out. She didn't even mind when I arrived to pick up the pictures fifteen minutes after her call! We poured over the boxes of photos together and she gave me great suggestions on how the album could be arranged. The pictures are, in a word, exquisite. They managed to photograph every memorable second of the wedding in clear, perfect, gorgeous detail. I was, and still am, amazed by the quality of their work. By the time the video was ready to be picked up, I was nervous that it wouldn't measure up to the pictures, but I was completely and happily wrong. My husband and I laughed and gasped over the impeccably edited video, which our film major friend even had to admit, was perfection. We ended up having a wedding video viewing party because of our ravings about the edits and our friends and family were not disappointed. The highlight reel still gives me chills because they matched our wedding song to the most perfect moments of our day, even matching the lyrics to when I was singing them in my husband's ear on our first dance. We truly can't recommend this establishment enough. They took an important element of our wedding and completely eliminated the stress from it. Mike was our main Photographer who had done our engagement shoot and our wedding! He was a lot of fun to work with and had great ideas for our pictures. During the engagement shoot he made sure that we got all the photo opportunities possible regardless of the time that it took. He stayed with us through the sunset to get those pictures and we were so grateful! During our wedding he worked well with the videographer to get the shots that were necessary. He was so creative and made us feel comfortable and have fun throughout the whole day. We were rushing to beat the rain after the ceremony and he organized the photos well to make sure we got them in before it rained. He was working all through cocktail hour - making sure he got the pictures we wanted and would check in with us throughout the night to make sure we got all the pictures with all the people that were needed. We did not do the reveal which made it tough on time but he made the best of it and made sure we got all the pictures (weather permitting) to allow us to make it to the end of cocktail hour. We did have an extended cocktail hour which also helped. All his hard work paid off because our photos are beautiful! There are so many photos to choose from even without the reveal! They are also really great to work with in the post wedding time like when making your album and thank yous! Alan and Barbara are a pleasure to talk to and they really want to make sure that you are happy and receive the products you want. They are always available to be contacted, which brides know is very important! We have not finalized our album yet however we know that it will come out just the way we want it and we are in great hands! We used Déjà Vu Studios for our video as well. There were not many reviews about their videos when we decided to book but we wanted to go with the same vender to make things easy and I am so glad we did! Our videographer was a behind the scenes kind of guy but he always made sure he was there for the important shots! 3 weeks following our wedding we got an email requesting song selections for our wedding video and our finalized video was ready about 8 weeks later! We just received the video and the trailer and it was like reliving the day all over again! We were torn whether we wanted a video and we are so happy we decided to do it because it is a great thing to have! The video did exactly what we wanted it to do. We couldn't have asked for a better partner in helping create the everlasting memories of our wedding in the form of photos, a video, albums, and picture gifts for our guests. My husband and I had a big wedding at a very fancy venue. Our guests were among some of the world's key players. We interviewed a few fancy NYC photographers and they all seemed to have major attitudes. We were worried that if we had to pose in front of someone with a big attitude or a big ego, we might not look natural or relaxed. We kept searching and searching and everywhere we went--from lighting vendors to cake vendors to band offices--we kept seeing photos taken by Deja Vu Studios. We became curious, and when both our florist and lighting designer recommended Deja Vu Studios in the same week, we had to check them out. Deja Vu was a complete breath of fresh air. Alan and his team are humble, kind, gracious, prompt, and...the best part...they take PHENOMENAL photos. They are artists, lighting designers, directors, and masters of photography technique all wrapped in one. The photos we got from Deja Vu could literally be in a magazine--the lighting, artistic sense, and quality just exude grace and glamour. Oh--and since their prices are better than the snooty Manhattan photographers, we were able to buy more from them-- a longer video, an extra album, more prints, etc. Our photographer, David, was so kind and a really positive, funny, and relaxed person; he has a genuine ability to read people, and was able to capture moments that no other photographer could. His gentle and kind way with the camera makes even the most camera shy person ask him to take their photo. Because every wedding day is so intense, most of our memories of the details of our wedding are preserved in the photos and videos. As such, we invested a tremendous amount of time in selecting the right photographer. Deja Vu Studios far, far, far exceeded our expectations in every way. We will use them throughout our lives-- we plan to have Deja Vu photograph birthdays, anniversaries, and other special events for us for years to come. I wouldn't necessarily say not to hire them the pictures were good.., but there are a few things you should know and speak about. 1. My daughter was asked if they could start pictures before actual makeup of the bridesmaids they said that it would be air brushed on this leads to 2. My daughter said NO WAY, thank god but THERE WAS NO PHOTOSHOPING or touch up of any kind on our photos and they kept them for 6 MONTHS saying they were fixing them up. SHADOWS from hair, people in background some patches of grass missing 3. When I called about this they said "well what pictures do you want we'll remove the shadows" NO they were kept for 6 months for editing shadows should have been removed from family photos. Thank god my daughter did not say yes to the airbrushing of makeup. 4. The photographer was good but not excellent there was a picture by a gate of my daughter and son in law that I wanted where they were holding each side of the gate open ... the gate doors were now symmetrical also it was over 90 degrees outside and the men in their suits were getting overheated after a while. Although we understand photos look better outside we were outside for hours and the older family members could not take the outside heat. We had to go inside and take family photos. Well this was an argument with the photographer and our family photos do not look that great I think on purpose because she didn't want to be taking them inside. As I said I wouldn't say not hire them but for the almost 6g we paid for photo and video it wasn't worth it this was more like a 3,000 job. read more

We worked with Alan for majority of the process. He was very welcoming from day one and made us feel so at ease. My husband, who is very laid back hit it off with Alan right away! Based on our personalities and the visions we had in mind, Alan had us work with his two photographers Brian and David. These two guys.... WOW. LOVE them. Brian and David had both contacted us a few times before the wedding to get to know us a little better and we hit it off instantly. My husband has always dreaded the idea of photographers on our wedding day (the demands, aggression, the rushing, the pushiness etc...)-- but on our wedding, he was BLOWN away. Brian and David made us feel SOOO comfortable on our wedding day. They knew how to make it fun and keep us calm. Our wedding was on NYE at Crest Hollow- a few photos we're taken outside in the freezing cold, but that didn't matter because they made it fun. We've already seen a small handful of photos from the day and they are incredible! We are at the edge of our seats for more! (Also... a BIG plus- every time something fun caught my eye happening with our guests, I'd look around for Brian or David only to realize they were already on it!) So happy I used Deja Vu Studios for our wedding,... I will be recommending them to everyone I know! read more

Alan and his crew at Deja Vu are some of the most professional photographers/videographers you will ever meet. They were incredibly helpful throughout the entire process leading up the wedding and through getting our album and video. Brian and Tom were an exceptional photo/video tandem. Brian kept things light and fun all day with our bridal party... it was actually fun!! and this is coming from someone who is generally not comfortable with having their picture taken. Tom was a ghost unless he needed us to be somewhere. For the most part, we didn't even realize he capturing us on video at all. As a result, the finished product never felt forced. All in all, the video truly captured the feel of the day for us and we have watched it a few times now. Every time we laugh and smile like we never saw it before. As a graphic designer by trade, its my job to be creative and have an exceptional attention to detail. These guys surpassed all expectations and the photos were unreal. Simply putting it, déjà vu studios is nothing but amazing. My husband and I planned our wedding very quickly. With only three months to work out the finer details Alan was there 1000% of the way. Anyone who has ever been married knows the stress of it's planning. Never once have I had a problem with the déjà vu team. Alan is very flexible, patient, and genuine. He'd rather know things are done to your comfortability then to just make a quick buck, which you honestly don't find anymore. Scott and Brian were our photographers and did an amazing job! They suggested funny poses for the friends and family, but took beautiful and elegant photos of my husband and I. I kid you not, I thought our proofs were the actual pictures. And forget it the video!!! Tom did an outstanding job! The excitement that I feel right now I know will always be there when I look back at my wedding photos. Since my wedding I have used them for my maternity shoot, my daughters nursery shoot, and most recently her christening. Deja Vu Studios was above and beyond our expectations. We hoped for a perfect, cool September wedding, but unfortunately ended up with an extremely hot and humid day. The photographers were absolutely amazing and helped capture the moments perfectly, despite the sweat :-) They were all so professional and easy to work with, we felt like we have known them forever. Throughout the day and especially at the end of the night, the photographers made sure to ask us and the parents if there were any other specific pictures we would like to take so that nothing was left out. My daughter was married 3 years ago and as I am redecorating now and going through photos I have to express disappointment in a few things. 1. She was told makeup would be airbrushed if she allowed photos to be taken prior to make up. It wasn't. DO NOT AGREE TO THIS. Thank god she didn't slow many to be taken with no makeup just the photos with her dress prior to putting it on. 2. They kept the for 4-5 months for editing and nothing was edited ... there are shadows dead grass people in the background. Just disappointing. All in all we have about 1,000 photos and some are god but very disappointed about the shadows in the family photos. read more

Picking a photographer was hardddd for me, I was extremely worried about buyers remorse and terrified of being disappointed with my photos! Deja Vu was wonderful, from the initial meeting Alan was great, he had suggestions and input that made my fiance and me confident in making the decision to go with them. Come time for our engagement shoot and I was back to being fearful! We picked a day that was supposed to be nice out and it turned out to be a rainy day but bc of time conflicts we went for it.
