Jonathan is one of the most talented photographers I have ever seen. He recently photographed our wedding in the keys, and to say the pictures are epic would be an understatement. I was very lucky and got a hand full (just a hand full) of beautiful pictures. I was sold in the first meeting and loved his portfolio....big mistake. Think twice before using him. He takes forever to respond, laughs at your questions and has the most unpleasant attitude. He took forever to get back to me and lost half my images. The other half of the images I did get were grainy and unfocused (not on purpose)...I am still hearing it from my family on the poor quality of the pictures and what a waste it was. I paid for two photographers and two days before he insisted I did not (not what you want to hear). Thank God I made him write it in the contract (so I thought)...that then served as a reminder for him. Big waste of money...all the images were horrible, lacked elegance, talent and were just plain sloppy. So sad :( I was just happy to get my pictures that did come out good and go!!! Girls really think twice, I know things happen but it's not good when your wedding day means so much and you put so much into it. Oh and 2 years later I have yet to receive my album!!! read more

Please, please read! I wanted to share this post because I hear JSP is now in NYC, and for those brides-to-be out here, you are very lucky! I was the lucky girl! Actually, both my husband and I were for choosing JSP Studio. I remember trying to decide which is the most important part of a wedding? Well, the answer is the photographer! My goal was that in 20 years, I wanted to smile while looking through my wedding album and say, " What a beautiful day it was!" :) I wanted to have photos that would capture the true essence of what my husband and I were feeling that day, our connection, and most importantly... our sense of humor! JSP did just this! We were married in October of 2012, and to this day, I still find myself looking through my photos and feeling so thankful to JSP. Jonathan was referred to my by my wedding planner, which was an absolute blessing. We decided on doing both an engagement shoot (which I strongly encourage) and wedding album. What caught my attention to Jonathan was his passion, sense of humor and dedication for fashion journalistic photography. He described in his biography (which is on his website) that he took a risk in changing careers to do something that he LOVES! This is what made me realize, this is someone I have to work with. All of our "vendor" selection was by word of mouth or website presentation. I would have to say the initial most captivating thing about Jonathan was his website. I loved his photojournalistic approach. I loved how he captured emotion, love, and "the moment" rather than just a basic beautiful photograph in ALL of his pictures...even the simple photos such as wedding bands. Secondly, when we chatted over the phone, I loved how direct, confidant, and compassionate he was about our wedding, without having ever met Philip and I. Thirdly, mostly every bride I knew in Boca Raton during the time I was getting married that was also engaged, used JSPStudio for their wedding day. That really said to me how impeccable his reputation was in the South Florida area. 2. Did you consider other photographers other than Jonathan Scott? If so, how many? Was Jonathan Scott your first choice? I considered one other photographer prior to learning of Jonathan Scott. So, I would have to say that Jonathan was my first and only choice. Many things I listed above: beautiful, moment capturing, emotional. He is productive, direct, he can manage large crowds and produce beautiful work. We have around 2000 pictures to choose from because his work ethic and compassion. He knows the photos to take. I am a very type A, organized person who likes to be involved and in control. On my wedding day, I did nothing. I had so much trust in Jonathan. I did not say anything to him other than thank you for being here on the most special day of my life. I had no hand in the amazing photographs he took for us. 4. On a scale from 1 to 10, how would you rate your satisfaction with Jonathan Scott in the following categories? Then, go sit with him and have a personal conversation in his office-you will see what I mean. Price: VERY REASONABLE. I think brides need to understand that photography is not cheap. The photographers time and production is very critical. When I made a budget, I was willing to do whatever for photography. I could not believe how reasonable Jonathan was with me. We formulated a plan and he was so understanding and kind. Turnaround time: We were married on February 18, 2012 and had a sneak preview on February 21.2012 and all of our pictures the following week...if that tells you anthing !!! 7. What does the competition have that you wish JSP offered? I have nothing negative to say. One thing that I would also like to offer as an accolade to Jonathan-he works extremely well with other vendors..and that means a lot to me. We had a videographer, florist, etc...he works so well with others. That is very important to brides because more than likely your day will include more than just photography. So, when you are searching for a great photographer..you need to keep that in mind as well. It's been a year since I last posted this review, and I STILL haven't received my album! He keeps saying I will have it within a couple of weeks and that was months ago. He does not return phone calls (my mother even called) and is not prompt with email, either. I would strongly advise again using his services. read more

This guy is the worst business man EVER. I got married on April 5, 2008 and I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY ALBUMS. He told me it was completed 45 days ago and would let me know when it has shipped. Do you really think a company takes over 45 days to ship a finished product? Nope. To this day, he still has not told me it has shipped, and it's like pulling teeth to get him to respond to an email. This guy is a freaking joke. Yeah, he's talented and has some nice pictures. And the day of the wedding was great with him and his assistant. But the CONTRACT IS A JOKE. He doesn't follow it AT ALL. He will not follow up with you or contact you for WEEKS or MONTHS at a time. His time lines are ridiculous. We paid $4100 up front (HUGE mistake), which he also claimed was a discount for paying up front. This price included him and his assistant for 10 hours, an engagement photo session, 1 large engagement photo printout, the digital picts of the wedding day, and 3 albums (one big coffee table one and 2 smaller ones). I was referred to him from a friend of mine who also used him for their wedding. They had the SAME EXPERIENCE!! I can't believe this guy is still in business. It's absolutely pathetic. It would make a WORLD of difference if he had better or even half-way decent communication with his clients post event. But this is where Jonathan Scott fails big time. I would never ever recommend this guy to anyone. I'm sure there are plenty of other photo-journalistic photographers out there with a similar creative approach and MUCH better business skills than this guy. BUYER BEWARE! read more

This guys is the WORST!!!!! He has pissed off one of my best friends who used him for her wedding in 2008. It's been 2 years and 4 months and she has not recieved her wedding albums? WTF!!!!!! One of the best decisions we made was to take the Mandarin Oriental's recommendation and use Jonathan Scott for our wedding photos. Professional, talented and great with our guests, he provided us with the most wonderful memories of my daughters special day. I got married on 8/18/07 picked my pics and got them back to him by the beginning of 2008, We didn't get our proofs for the album changes for a full year, I didn't get my originals on cd for a year after that, and i was promised the originals from the engagement session, still haven't gotten those. And now February 2011 and still calling and getting excuses or ill of retaining an attorney to get this resolved. read more

I got married in August 2010. It is now July 2011 and I have still not received my album. Same thing... just excuses and excuses from him. I have no idea what he is doing and why my album hasn't come yet. According to him, "the binder is in Italy- it takes a while". 11 MONTHS!!!! GIVE ME A BREAK!!! DO NOT BOOK THIS PHOTOGRAPHER- IT WILL BE A BIG MISTAKE!! Also, on the day of my wedding he was supposed to have an assistant to take pictures of the groom and groomsmen getting married. Ha! A response to my review 10 months later. Indicative of his responses during our entire wedding experience I have names of other unhappy clients. Not slander..Truth The maid of honor that was asked to serve as his assistant was my daughter. I witnessed it first hand. Not slander..truth. I was there Rudeness to guests at 2 weddings.... I was there and luckily we could all laugh about his egomania. I am willing to provide Yelp with names and affidavits to substantiate any of my allegations. I welcome him to sue me for slander or libel for I have no desire to voluntarily squander any more of my time. I just hope he looks inside and tries to be who he promotes himself. Consider this: when you choose a wedding photographer you are more or less choosing an extra member of your wedding party -- someone who is with you for the entire event, from the moment you begin to get ready until the very end of your celebration. There is NO ONE in the world I would want to spend this much time with me and my family and friends on such a particular and special day. Jonathan and his team were incredible - they kept everything light and fun and were not afraid to go the extra mile to get a great shot. Every time my (now) husband and I looked around, we would spot another photographer far off in the bushes or hiding above us getting that extra photo. He also makes an effort to get to know his clients to make the experience even more individualized and personal. His photographs are artful and stunning, not at all cheesy or formulaic (as many wedding photos can be). Jonathan is amazingly talented and really has an eye for those "magic moments" - whether romantic, moving, or simply hilarious. I am OBSESSED with my wedding photos and cherish them. I am so thrilled to have found Jonathan and I now consider him a dear friend. I cannot recommend anyone more highly -- do not pass up the opportunity to have him document your wedding !!!! read more

If I could redo any part of my wedding, it would be hiring a different photographer. Jonathon was rude, arrogant, and obnoxious to me, my husband, my parents, my family, and our other vendors. At first I thought he was funny and charming and he actually took beautiful engagement pictures. However, as time went on, there were a million red flags. We should have just eaten our costs and let go of him after the engagement shoot. I wish I could say that the pictures were so beautiful that it was worth is bad behavior, but that is not the case. The majority of his pictures are blurry and not very focused. My husband and I have about 5 good pictures together from our ENTIRE wedding night. Jonathon made pretentious and insulting comments about our wedding venue, videographer, and planner. My wedding planner said that she had never worked with someone so horrible in her life. Above all, he's not cheap. I wish I had read yelp reviews and spoken to other people before hiring him. I have spoken to 2 other people who used him since we got married and they all reported the same behavior. It is such a shame that such a special day was clouded with horrific attitude and subpar wedding pics. Brides, please do yourself a favor and find a photographer who makes you feel special and treats you and your family and friends right. read more

How do I begin to describe what a terrible experience I had with Jonathan Scott Photography? I'll start at the end: Two (yes two!) years after my wedding, after taking Jonathan Scott to small claims court twice, I got my album. The quality of the prints was unprofessional. The quality of the photos was inconsistent. The photos were grainy and appeared to have been printed on his desktop printer at home. I cringe when I think of all the money we paid him...$2800.00!!! I would have rather had my friends take pictures on disposable cameras and printed them out at Costco for 100 bucks! WHAT A WASTE!!!! And I spent another $400.00 taking him to court. Luckily my lawyer was a good friend and didn't charge me for his time in court. I don't enjoy looking at the album. It makes me feel sad and taken advantage of... On the upside, my 2 year old daughter loves looking at it. I am hoping she will take a Sharpie to it and then I'll have an excuse to throw it out without my mother-in-law getting mad. I am writing this review in hopes of sparing another unfortunate couple the anguish of dealing with Jonathan Scott. I do not wish him ill. In fact, he is an unbelievably nice guy. His staff was very professional on the wedding day. The shots they took were great. No complaints there. Good luck on your journey to find a photographer for your wedding or special occasion. My advice to you is this: Designate one of your friends as the "photographer". Give her your camera and let her take tons of pictures for you. Skip the expensive photographer...you'll thank me later. read more

I had seen Jonathan's work from other weddings, including family members, and I couldn't help but dream that one day, he would be my wedding photographer. Luckily that came true! Jonathan worked closely with my mother and I to create a wedding photography package that we couldn't refuse. My husband and I first got to work with Jonathan for our engagement photos and we were ecstatic with the results. The wedding was even better-- after posting just a handful of photos the next day, I couldn't believe how many people were asking me who my wedding photographer was. Jonathan's skill is apparent in every shot-- he captures raw emotion and true "moments," not staged, stiff poses. I chose Jonathan Scott Photography to shoot our wedding after looking through the portfolios of about 40 local photographers, both independent photographers as well as photographers contracted through national services. Jonathan Scott's portfolio was outstanding. His shots were vibrant, full of color, life, and humanity. He beautifully captured the emotion of his previous clients and his "action" shots at the dance party were unparalleled. In fact, most other photographers won't even show you those photos in their portfolio, as they are much more complicated than staged photos of the couple and their family, or the wedding service. This made JSP my absolute first choice, and certainly, for the price as well--other photographers of his caliber were easily charging twice as much. Jonathan worked with us and our schedule and came up with a great package for us, only including what we wanted and didn't make us pay for an extra services that we weren't interested in. He was more than timely, he flew through (and did a great job on) all the shots that we had specifically requested, and was furthermore really helpful on the day-of--he even gave me and my bridesmaid a ride to the wedding site! I would recommend his services in a second. Turn-around on our shots was quick and they came out truly amazing. I have already recommended him to friends and he recently shot the wedding of one of my bridesmaids, who also thought he did a great job. Hire this guy, and his really wonderful assistant! They will be there for every minute of your event and capture every moment that matters to you and your guests. read more

I really cannot say enough good things about Jonathan Scott and JSP Photography Studio. He and is team are simply incredible. From the moment I met Jonathan, I knew he would be the one that would capture all the feelings and experiences that surrounded our Wedding. To start, Jonathan shot our engagement photos on two (2) separate occasions to make sure we got both the night and day time photos we were looking for. Jonathan's photos are not the typical Wedding photos and poses that give that forced feel to them. Instead, he strives at capturing the essence of the couple and their unique love and personality. No shot taken by Jonathan is the same and no shot he captures is like anything you have ever seen before. I just received 40 of the photos that Jonathan took of our Wedding and people cannot stop emailing and texting me about how absolutely incredible and captivating the photos are. Unlike many "wedding photographers", Jon has his own artistic and unique way of capturing special moments. After seeing his other work and discussing our ideas with him, hiring Jon was the easiest decision we made. He hiked two miles into the woods to shoot us at our engagement location and drove 3.5 hours across the state to shoot our wedding. Jon exudes a confidence that rubs off on his subjects; we certainly aren't models but he made us feel like we were doing a great job...and the pictures look outstanding. The photos and the video are the only thing left once it's all said and done so we appreciated how Jon took charge and made sure we got all the photos we wanted throughout our wedding day. Even with my short notice and time constraints, he took the time to speak with me over the phone multiple times to get to know me and delve into the essence of what special qualities should be illustrated through the photographs. Where to begin! Working with (& befriending) Jonathan has been an AMAZING experience. While currently working in the wedding industry alongside Jonathan for the last few years, I am exposed to so many different photographers. All I can say is do not ever hire this photographer. I didn't realize my wife and her friend had already reviewed, but it's worth pouring on for what he put us through. We hired him for our wedding, got some supposed discounted rate in a bartering deal, but like the other reviewer I believe we paid up front (I wasn't involved). He made us travel out of our way to take engagement photos, which I was not happy about. Who was getting paid here? The wedding day went fine, however, I am not very impressed with the quality of the photos (a family friend took a shot of us walking down the aisle that trumped any photo JSP took) and the photo album looks like a PowerPoint template. But the biggest problem by far is the fact that it took TWO AND A HALF YEARS to get our photo albums from this clown. Like the other reviewer, detailed email inquiries were met with, "It's coming soon!" blow-off replies. That is literally all he would say, completely ignoring any questions or details. Then excuses blaming the album supplier took over. 2.5 years later we get a very underwhelming photo album. Don't hire this guy and if he's the last photog on the planet DO NOT pay him up front. read more

I had the opportunity to work with Jonathan the weekend of my wedding for a series of events ranging from shots of my husband and me on the beach, to our rehearsal dinner, to our wedding day. Jonathan and his team were incredible throughout each step of the process. What struck me the most when I looked back on the weekend was his ability to be a chameleon through the different sessions. On the beach when taking romantic pictures of us he encouraged us to open up and act like ourselves and show our true colors and truly helped us to relax. At the rehearsal dinner he made sure to get photos of everyone who was there gently pulling us into the frames of each image curating the perfect shots effortlessly almost as a behind the scenes low key director. And, as any bride knows, the wedding day is a sort of blur for the couple and their immediate family. It was here that Jonathan and his team impressed me the most as they were grounded and in charge making sure the entire day ran according to plan which included wrangling our 40 some family members for the necessary portrait shots (no easy task!) and also catching every candid darling moment from tears down the aisle, to laughs at the toasts and our first dance. The range in his images - from traditional to photojournalistic allowed everyone in my family from grandma to mom to the happy couple achieve exactly what we were all looking for. And Jonathan and his team did it with a professional yet laid back smile! read more

Jonathan is Amazing!!! He has such great energy and his style is one of a kind, and what you call perfection. Throughout my whole wedding portrait hour, I was extremely tense and couldn't let go. Jonathan kept giving me pep talks, and he managed to get amazing photos despite it all. After I saw my photos for the first time, I was truly at a lost for words. I have gotten nothing but compliments on photos that have been posted on his blog as well as facebook, just a week after the wedding. I cant wait to see all the amazing images which should be posted any day now. It was such a great feeling to be able to see the pictures so close to the wedding. My husband and I are really looking forward to working with him again, for the trash the dress photo shoot. I can only imagine how fabulous those they will turn out.
