I had high hopes for Tanner's based on google and yelp reviews. I found my experience to err on the…read moreinteresting side as the dishes I ordered were unexpected. The roasted Brussel sprouts were covered, literally smothered in bacon bits and feta. The sprouts were fried beyond crispy. If you like your sprouts super charred and buried under bacon, this dish is for you. I, however, would have preferred my sprouts less burnt and far less toppings. The French dip was shockingly NOT a salt bomb - which was a pleasant surprise. It's the first time I've had a French dip where I actually wanted to dip it in the side of au jus to give it a flavor bump. The real gem is Tanner's amazing selection of sides to choose from - you can swap in a twice baked potato, kettle chips with French onion dip, steamed broccoli, grilled asparagus or potato salad! Any other place would up-charge but Tanner's doesn't. I chose grilled asparagus and appreciated the separate packaging so the sandwich didn't get soggy. I would come back and try other dishes as the menu is quite large.

The service was good; the staff were friendly with some regulars there. However, the food was overpriced for the quality. It wasn't bad, but there was nothing special about it. Overall, slightly nicer than a family restaurant but not pretentious in any regard. High ceilings, kind of noisy environment, but not so loud you can't chat with your table mates. A full bar and a menu where everyone should be able to find something to their liking. On my last visit, I had their ribs. Gotta say they were pretty good. Large portion served with a creamy coleslaw and bowl of Mac & Cheese. I prefer a moist Mac & Cheese and found this to be pretty dry. My dining partner had the bistro melt with a chicken breast. Also tasty and a large enough sandwich to bring some home. Price for a dinner is just slightly on the high side; however, the taste of the food, drinks and friendly service will probably bring you back. If you are into it, they also do Trivia on Thursdays!

The place is very clean and fairly trendy for 20 to 30 somethings. We came in for a late lunch (around 2) and we were the only ones there. Gayle was cleaning when we got there and was cleaning when we left. Ok so why not 5 stars. Because they are going some things wrong. First, I ordered a ruban and they were out of the bread and the meat. My buddy tried to order onion rings and they were out of them. Seriously, not a big deal but it would have been nice if that were said to us in the beginning and it shows the restaurants disorganization. Speaking of. She wrote our orders on a normal ticket book and then gave us post it notes for the bill. They need a POS system. I have a feeling if it were busy the quality and the time out would suffer greatly but idk for sure! Also the cook was yelling at her about not being able to hear her which was kinda unprofessional. Also, expect to pay a bit more. Each of our bills were over $20...granted I had 2 beers. But, hey I really am nit-picking here and I know it! Study Hall is a nice bar and grille! It is upscale in an area where there are not a ton of bars, especially nice ones! It is obvious that Gayle puts everything she has into making this successful! (Not to mention she has the coolest red phone behind the bar...yes we noticed!) BTW - My friend swears the fish tacos are the BEST he has ever had!
