I thought the agents job is to show you options, not to manipulate your view of what is available so they can get a bigger commission. A dry cut off after already putting a couple of months into the relationship leading up to this time was disappointing. Do your research and make sure the agent is not opposed to showing you homes priced at below your original stated range. You are looking for someone who will help you jump to get a good deal (if the rare chances occur that you can actually find them) and not someone who will limit their time with you because they don't want a smaller commission. That said, we found an agent who still showed us our range but also kept an eye open for those deals and got a nice home that cost was in between so they got close to their full commission and we got a rare good deal on the home.
