I've had intermittent back problems for a few years, and every 3-6 months, I find I need chiropractic work. In Colorado, where I'm from, it's pretty straightforward to find care, but here, I had no idea where to go, or especially who to trust. Dr. Tickel put me at ease immediately. I really appreciated that he explained each maneuver and/or therapy during the session. He was very compassionate, but very knowledgeable at the same time. I'm a scientist, and I like to know that someone knows their stuff. My back was so much better after the first visit, and after the second, was completely back to normal. I appreciated that tremendously - it was the worst it had ever gotten because I didn't know where to find care. I'll be recommending him to anyone who asks. Immediate relief, and I'm back to working in my garden without pain and riding my horse. Looking forward to hiking next weekend too. I'm very grateful - I wasn't sure I could find a really terrific provider on the very first visit.

First ever visit to a chiropractor!…read more I tore my ACL back in college, 10 years ago now (?!), which (after reconstruction and re-tearing) has turned into a decade of lop-sided life. Since then I've noticed my left side body compensating for my ACL-less right, and then add a year plus of working on farms (read: lots if crawling, digging, bending, lifting, etc), as well being pregnant, and now having a toddler who needs to be held at any given time, I felt I needed to finally get my spine checked out to help me with the feeling of misalignment and uncomfortable and chronic tightness I deal with, especially in my shoulders and mid-back. Dr. Rhett at Venture Chiropractic is great! He explained everything thoroughly and in a way that showed his passion, knowledge and care. He took me through everything step by step in the examination, including the motion tests and the thermography mapping of my spine. It was so cool to see the heat radiating off the right side of my spine (showing inflammation etc)--crazy how different it was to the left. He wasn't pushy when he suggested I get a Gonstead alignment and he explained what an alignment would entail, and asked if I would be interested. Of course I was, and it was very simple. He was gentle and afterwards I definitely felt things had shifted for the better. He explained that it's not a quick fix, that he likes to try as little manipulation for maximal outcome, but that bodies take a bit to adapt because of bad habits, postures and muscle tightness etc, which makes sense. So we'll see how my body reacts in a more long term way to chiropractic care, but if I can gain some better range of motion in certain areas and decrease my neck and back tightness that is a win. Overall happy with my first visit and looking forward to spine comfort progress. So glad to have received care from Dr Rhett who was very kind and professional and made the experience easy, comfortable and informative!

She employs multiple different adjustment techniques, which means she can adapt her treatments to each individual's concerns and comfort level. For example, if your neck needs to be adjusted, she'll do the traditional neck cracking if you like it, but if not, she has other options for you. I also like that she adjusts from the bottom up, feet to neck, because it makes sense that our foundation must be solid for everything else to come into alignment. I'm really happy she's in Cville!

After seeing probably a half dozen different chirps in the last 5 years, Dr. Huffman is my favorite. He won't try to sell you on a "3 appts a week" plan like some of those other guys, but instead he'll diagnose the problem, provide excellent in-office adjustments, and give you at-home therapy recommendations to help in between sessions. After about 7 sessions over 2 months, he told me that I could just come in as-needed, because he'd already noticed a lot of improvement. I used to sit at a desk all day, and my lower back has been giving me problems for years. I recently moved to San Diego, and I work from home, so now I sit on a fitness orb to help build my core and back muscles. I still do the daily stretches that he recommended, and have even reached out to him to send me recommendation letters and general tips. He's simply a great guy who genuinely cares more about helping people enjoy life in comfort, than making a quick buck. I just hope that whoever I find out here in San Diego will be able to hold a candle to the service I received from Dr. Huffman.
