$120 waste of money. It's a $ trap for adults previously licensed or out of state trying to get WA license... This place wasn't worth the cost: they have one day a week for testing, at one time period 5pm, overpriced, and only give you 2 chances that have to be done at different dates... I've only done DMV tests in CA and NV, and they are much more extensive but always passed first try being they are about traffic laws, not "how long does marijuana and alcohol take before you're impaired" nonsense... it felt like the test was laced with trick questions on subject matter than you wouldn't feel you'd need to memorize in the WA state driving manual, which feels like a plot to fail people for retaking tests to make $. Mind you I showed up to a closer office and the "instructor/tester" was late...(9-11 driving school does DOL based testing for $39 and 3x attempts, 5 days a week, can retry same day to make my point...) if you have a drug addicted teenager who is learning for their first time, maybe their driving school is worth it, idk... but this place is not worth it for a written/knowledge test. I've been driving for over a decade and had an out of state license that expired before I could transfer my license. I didn't know I'd have to go through all this but I did. To put it simply, the knowledge test itself has more to do with drugs (which I don't care to know about) than it does actual driving and traffic laws. If you're an experienced driver or out of state having to do the same, avoid these small run of the mill places. Stick with DOL/DMV based testing like the rest of the country. ‍ read more

Honestly an amazing experience with defensive driving. All the instructors are exceptional. Could not have done this without them. Really thorough, patient, and really make you feel confident going into the test. Special shout out to Glen. Could not have asked got a better instructor and tester. I love this driving school. Lots of thank to teacher Verla! She is so patient and energetic. She taught me a lot during the 5 lesson courses. She told me the driving skills and some interesting history of the roads and even some English vocabulary! She gave me lots of confidence and support. I definitely wanna recommend the school and Verla to other leaners. read more

I learned new things and got prepared for driving-- I am more confident and all my questions were answered thoughtfully. The room is a bit depressing though, and gets boring quickly, but that's school. I would recommend to do, especially with friends. read more

this class has helped me learn to drive way more than my parents ever could. i will admit it's a bit boring, partly because it's on zoom, and partly because it's two hours long. my instructor, clay, is amazing. you're so lucky if you get him and or josh! they're both so funny and supportive. the videos (specifically with brett) are hilarious. read more

I signed up to take a road skills test with this company at the Lynnwood location. Their customer service is TERRIBLE. I played cat and mouse on the phone with them for a whole day before I was finally able to speak with a human, and when I was finally connected with a human she had no clue who she was talking to! Asked for the wrong customer and acted confused when I corrected her. The website advertises Saturday drive availability however I wasn't able to get a time for over 2 weeks out. On top of that I am now being told that I am not able to get a refund due to that is what the website says, I see no where that this is stated for driving skills tests. Also this was not stated when making the original purchase and it is nowhere on the receipts. I am now waiting for a call from a manager after leaving my fifth message since there is no alternative phone number to contact anyone. **EDIT** After receiving a call back from who I am going to refer to as a manager, Maria Crosbie, I am still no where good. They refuse to give me a refund due to this is their "policy" and it is stated on the terms of service. Well, I never saw this. It is also not stated on the website and is not in big bold print somewhere when making the purchase. There is also a processing fee of $35 for those who do get refunds. What a scam!! This is more that what the least expensive service even costs. I have made complaints to the BBB and The General Attorney. read more

This is in response to the owners comment. "While pedestrians clearly have the right of way in crosswalks, it's wise to always ensure you have eye contact with a driver before walking in front of car at an intersection." It's difficult to make eye contact with someone when they are not looking forward, including when they are driving forward. it seems that the solution is for your company to better train the students and have your instructors pay attention. You should be giving the eye contact advice to your students and instructors, not to the pedestrians they almost hit. If one of your students with an instructor in the car hits a pedestrian do you think a jury in a civil trial would side with your company or the pedestrian hit at a stop sign? read more

I was mostly hands off while my first child went through the classroom and drive portions of her driver's education, knowledge and skills tests and an additional collision avoidance class so I can't really give specifics on content, but my husband observed a few classes and seemed satisfied that the course material was thorough. What impressed me most was the incredible customer service I received every time I contacted the school both by email and phone. I was able to get my questions answered in a timely manner and any scheduling issues we faced were addressed at that moment. I did find most answers to questions posted on the website (many under the Frequently Asked Questions tab) and their Scheduling Agent system was quite easy to use, but every now and then it was either easier to call or we had an unusual circumstance that warranted a call. Every customer service rep I interacted with not only addressed my needs, but was pleasant and professional. Overall, the customer service and the additional courses available to us (specifically the skid training and collision avoidance courses) made this school the best value for our money. read more

Defensive driving school is pretty good and my class instructor, Verla, was really good and tried to keep the vibe fun in the classroom. I had my first drive with Astrid, and it was really great - she made me feel super comfortable driving in traffic. The teachers/instructors are great. The only complaint I have is that we did not receive our Student Workbooks until the second week - even though they had it in stock ( just not in our location ). We just copied answers on pieces of paper and it was not the optional conditions for learning. read more

Our daughter has been taking Defensive Driving School's online teen driver/new driver course. It would normally be in-person, but due to the COVID pandemic, all courses are online (they will still do in-person drives with safety precautions, but this review is for the online portion). Both Vallare and Verla have been completely excellent. I am often nearby when my daughter is on the Zoom meeting, so I overhear a lot of what's going on. I'm amazed that they've been able to master the beast that has defeated many a school teacher! They are able to keep the kids engaged with videos, games, small chunks of lecture and regularly selecting a random kid to answer a question (thereby keeping the students on their toes!). One instructor is constantly in the online chat thread answering questions while the other is running the content. And somehow, they are still able to bond with the kids - even online. Another cool thing they do is take a type of attendance (called a "poll") three times during the class to make sure kids are still there and haven't logged in and then disappeared. In very impressed and our daughter had been very enthusiastic about the class (which is a first with anything "Zoom"). read more
