Unlike many driving schools, he shows the direct RCWs behind the laws, and common misconceptions. The knowledge he imparted was timely, relevant and essential to their learning to be good drivers. We also really appreciated his flexibility and responsiveness; if we had a class conflict, he made other opportunities available to attend, etc. We found him to be a terrific coach in what is a serious and life-long skillset, and we're grateful that our kids had him as their teacher over the last few years. Has students drive him to get food. Had me drive him to his friend's apartment and wait in the car outside while he went in to get "food" and he came out with only mayonnaise packets and ate the mayo packets by themselves. A girl at my high school had brain cancer, he had heard of this and brought it up to me. I told him I knew her personally to which he responded by advising me to tell her to stop doing chemo therapy because it doesn't work. So insensitive and uncomfortable. I don't think he should be working with kids.

I forgot to change my CA license to WA license, thus I need to retake a driving test in WA. I took a 30min warm-up lesson and passed the driving test today! I have previously done warm-up + test at a different driving school and failed, so I think I can provide some comparisons between the two experiences. Though I might be biased due to the different results, but I will try to be as impartial as possible. Jason, the owner and instructor at Street Law Driving School, was completely honest and up-front with me. During the warm-up, there was a stop sign where I did not come to a full stop and Jason told me in a test that would have disqualified me so that I can pay attention to that in the test. Also Jason helped me to improve in the back-maneuvering and parallel parking, the two sections that I got points of in my previous test. He gave simple but clear instructions on the steps I needed to take to perform those two tasks and asked me to repeat a few times until I have them nailed down all by myself. At the driving school where I took my previous test, the instructor simply went over the steps as if quoting out of an instruction manual without providing any feedbacks on what I did wrong, then took off points during the test. After the test, Jason went over the points that I missed in detail to make sure I actually have them remembered for my own safety. All of the points Jason took off make sense in the hindsight and are clearly explained. Whereas, in my previous test, the examiner just flat-out refused to provide any explanation for the points taken off and told me I'm a hazard to the road. I highly recommend Street Law Driving School to anyone, especially people who are in similar situation as I do. Jason holds the same standard as any examiner is expected to do, but at the same time, he also shows great compassion and wants to ensure the success of his students for their own safety, whereas, I find many other big-name driving schools mostly care about how to sell you more classes. Just for that alone, Jason and Street Law Driving School deserve all my recommendations.

My commencement was the week before my the commencement for my high school diploma from Shorewood High School, I was 17 years of age at both. It was cool to be able to earn credits for both high school and college as part of the Washington State Running Start program. While attending Shoreline Community College, I split my extracurricular activities - taking part in clubs here and sports through the high school. The student body was diverse, which I enjoyed. I still remember a particular group I was part of in a history/political science class where I was 16 years of age, another person was 24 years of age, and a third person was 40+ years of age with a 20 year old son... The 40+ year old even said they had a hard time taking me seriously because I was so young. I appreciated honesty and transparency like this from the students. My classes were across the board above average from my perspective and I can say there was not a bad experience in my two years here. When classes were close together temporally and spaced physically apart, I found I had to walk fast to make it to my next class on time. Parking was easy to find if I came early enough in the morning, otherwise it could be a bit of a wait. The bookstore was a magical place to me, where I could get textbooks, snacks, and other school supplies. Happy to have attended, and graduated from, Shoreline Community College.

I would not mind coming in for an hour and teaching that portion if you would like. My daughter went through the program about a year ago and she tells me that topic is not covered. Simple- Steer it and clear it if possible. -call 911 -Have DL, Reg, POI in vehicle. -Do not accept not calling the police an option as the other person may not have insurance or valid DL etc. there is a reason why they want to leave before the police arrive!! He was very disrespectful about it. He told her they have no refunds . He than proceeded to take another girl who was tsking the drive test in place of my daughter mind you wearing the same ugg shoes. My daughter is native american and the other girl was European american white. I couldn't attend my daughter's drive test that day I had to work. But I believe that my daughter was wrongfully discriminated against. My daughter is sweet and very respectful. When I called to speak to a manager. The young girl who answered was very rude. And stateded"we don't give any refunds" she started "the Washington state department of licensing says my daughter can't wear those type of shoes to take a dri e test" I asked if that was stated on the 911 driving school website. She said yes. I asked her are you sure. (It doesn't say that anywhere on their website) she never got the manager. I than asked if my daughter can take the test with another driver. This was an option. My daughter is rescheduled. I feel like this needs to be addressed. I wonder how many people, young kids of color they do this too. They just take their money and not give them a chance to even take the tests. No refu d policy needs to be adjusted or a new staff. Who do not discriminate. This is not right.

They retaliated against my daughter by filing a false complaint about her with the DOL. Approximately one month ago, a Swerve Ballard employee (you know who you are) filed a report with DOL containing false and defamatory allegations regarding my 17-year-old daughter. The Swerve employee falsely claimed my daughter had "medical issues" impacting her driving, which led DOL to initiate a review of her license and require various retesting with the possibly of losing her provisional license. My daughter does not have medical issues that impact her driving. This false report was retaliatory in nature. The same individual who filed this report was the driving instructor overseeing my daughter's second failed driving test. At the conclusion of the test, my daughter was understandably upset and questioned the instructor about what she perceived as inconsistencies in aspects of his scoring. She also asked to review her prior test results, which he did not provide us. After her requests were denied, my daughter left the building. We have sent repeated emails and phone calls to Swerve to follow up on this incident, all of which they have refused to answer. Rather than addressing her concerns professionally, the instructor appears to have retaliated by filing this false report with inaccurate claims related to her health. At no point during the driving test or in my direct communications with this instructor, either in person or via email, did he express any concerns about health-related issues that could impact her driving. For him to subsequently allege such issues without basis is deeply unprofessional and constitutes an abuse of power. I wonder how many Swerve student have to take the driving test multiple times, each costing approximately $100, because of subjective and inconsistent scoring. Each new test lines the pockets of the Swerve franchise owners. I'll be exploring this further via complaints to the DOL and the Washington Attorney General.
