Worst experience ever! the instructors josh and a guy with a Russian name. Were very mean and demeaning toward me. Very rude and unhelpful, giving the worst advice. Issac is the best instructor. I just cleared my driving test. I took warm up session before the test. He explained everything in detail as to what would be tested in the test. Currently learning to drive here and enjoying it! Clay and Vincent, my online instructors, are very patient and kind while making the content engaging and fun. The only feedback I have is for completing a makeup class- if you miss more than ten minutes of an online class, you're required to attend the entire two hour session again, no matter the circumstances. This isn't a big deal, just inconvenient as a concept. I would suggest allowing students to watch a recording of the session in their own time instead. Overall, kind and funny staff and a great learning environment! Totally recommend :) read more

We have nothing but great things to say about this school! We have had a not so good experience with another driving school and defensive driving school exceeded our expectations! The instructors are great! My son did his classroom lessons online. They were thorough and students are provided with note pages, which was helpful to make sure he was staying on track. First let me say this was a great experience for me! I purchased the twelve one hour lesson packages and test package and don't regret it only thing is that I wish i had more time with them each session because each session went by too fast. Mr Kim is great and will never yell at you if you do something wrong instead he helps you avoid those mistakes. I thought scheduling was going to be a pain since I was only available in the afternoon but they had plenty of slots open for me where I could balance work and afternoon driving lessons. Three of my four kids went to DDS in Issaquah (I switched after a "meh" experience with another driving school in town). Mr. Kim taught all three of my kids that went through Defensive Driving School. He struck just the right note between humorous and serious and was consistently excellent at working with each kid on their unique skills and challenges. Ok, these guys are absolutely a bunch of cheats! When you call then prior to scheduling your lessons all is well and great, but beware that once they charge you, they will do everything to avoid accommodating your schedule(by months). I have always been fearful of driving, especially merging onto the highways. I took lessons at Defensive Driving with Mr. Issac Kim. He was very patient with me and gave me time to learn and improve on my mistakes. He is an amazing teacher and helped overcome my fear of driving and made sure I was comfortable enough to get onto the highway. He gave me enough practice with the mock tests that I knew what I would be tested for during the driving test. I am grateful that I found Defensive Driving and Issac helped me learn. They are crooks, the guy on call asked me to sign up for Knowledge and skills test and told me will refund you the money. They didn't. They charged me 65$ for test whereas it's 40$ everywhere else. 911 is way more professional as compared to them and you would have way more probability of getting a license with them. read more

Mr. Kim is a fantastic instructor. Very informative, patient, and thorough with both my kids who went through the class, driving, and testing. I scheduled my driving tests here. It's really a hassle to schedule tests with them. They charged me 80$ for the test when the cost was 50$. I had to repeatedly call them for the refund. I wouldn't recommend scheduling tests here, 911 is a much better center and are more transparent with the process. read more

Both of my kids went through their program. We love the instructors. Both my kids had Isaac as their instructor. He keeps things light at times so they are not bored all the time. He maintains his composure during the driving sessions so they don't feel extra pressure to perform. We highly recommend this place. read more

Our daughter recently completed the teen driving course, including the extra advanced collision avoidance add-on class. We couldn't be more impressed with the investment. The instructors at Defensive Driving school are extremely professional and committed. Defensive Driving School costs slightly more than the driving course the high school offers, but it was well worth it. Poor communication and customer service! I specifically talked to the person in the office about wanting to use my own truck for a lesson and confirming it's okay before booking. She said it was fine and then sent me the link to book online, which required payment first. Of course, it was after I paid for the lesson and was allowed to pick a time for it that they tell me that I have to use one of their vehicles (cars) for insurance reasons. I already know how to drive a car. I wanted practice with a large pickup truck, that's the whole point of getting the lesson! When I asked for a cancellation and refund, they would only do it with a $15 processing fee. It's not like I'm canceling with short notice, so I don't see how I should pay them for a service that I did not receive. I am disputing the charge through my credit card company. read more

Horrible front office, if you can get past the front office person and get the correct information the classes themselves are ok. It's hardly worth the work to get past the front office though if you don't do all the work and stay on top of them you likely will not have a good experience. I suggest finding a driving school that has competent office staff. read more

This driving school has staff with unprofessional bedside manners and very poor customer service. Communication with anyone in the "office" is nearly impossible as they rarely answer the phones and you are left waiting in a phone queue for a very long time. My concerns were never addressed by this company, I felt tremendously ignored, and this was a complete waste of $500. I feel that the unethical business practices by this company caused my child and I both unnecessary stress and I would never recommend them for any family who is wanting to have a positive experience for their child during drivers ed. Sent my oldest to 911 driving school 2 years ago. Sent my second son to Defensive driving school in August. Can NOT any any level recommend Defensive Driving school. My third son a 14 year old I will send back to 911driving. 911 operates a 21st century school and very professionally. All drive you can schedule yourself online at a time that is convenient for parent and teenager. Defensive Driving will schedules all drive for you at start of class and if you can't make a scheduled drive you must call their Bellevue office which always puts you into answer que and miraculously you are always caller number three in the que. I called the school 4 times and was number 3 all 4 times(hmmm). Also with 911 I was able to once again go online and schedule the final drive test the day following my Son's last driving session. With Defensive Driving they require that the student wait 2 - 3 weeks after the final drive for the "paperwork" to arrive in Bellevue, they then must verify all information is correct then they email a certificate of completion. Then and only then cal you schedule the drive test. When I asked them if we can speed up the process they said "for $29 they will call the instructor and verify all information verbally, otherwise I must wait 2- 3 weeks". Send your teenager to 911, DO NOT send them to Defensive Driving school. read more

He had gone into it I think, thinking it would be a total bore, but he said Mr Kim really made it fun and interesting. My son took the Teens Driving Course and Collision Avoidance Class at Defensive Driving School in Issaquah during the summer of 2016. The scheduling for drives was easy because you can do it online so if you need to cancel or change your appt, it is easy. We also got email reminders so there is no excuse if you need to change or cancel your appointment within 48 hr. which it very fair. Isaac Kim was my son's instructor. He is professional and knowledgeable, but most of all, he is great with the kids taking the teen driving course. Isaac made it fun for my son and my son really remembered a lot because of his excellent teaching in class and on the road. I would also recommend the Collison Avoidance Class. My son grumbled about having to take it on a Saturday morning, but boy, did he changed his mind! He had so much fun learning to handle and to make decisions when driving a car that needs to stop suddenly and avoid collisions in real situations. He gained a lot of confidence behind the wheel that day and most of all, had hands-on experience doing it in a safe, closed driving course. The parents also had a turn on the course and I learned a thing or two that day! I also recommend that as a parent to go along on one or more of the drives so you can observe and learn how your teen is learning with his/her instructor. After all, you will be the one practicing driving with your teen so it's good to be consistent with what he/she is learning. I highly recommend Defensive Driving School in Issaquah! read more

My daughter had a wonderful time in Mr. Freaney and Mr. Kim's class. They are both great instructors! Very professional, yet funny, and relates to the kids in order to get across the importance of safety. She is a better driver because of their ability to teach and engage her. I would highly recommend this driving school to all parents who want the best for their kids. They also offer skid training and collision avoidance training in a closed obstacle course. A MUST for all! They may not be the "cheapest" of the local driving schools, but let me tell you... You get what you pay for! Their prices are definitely comparable to the quality of services provided and worth every penny. You can't put a price tag on the safety of our children! No doubt you will be pleased with this school. Their customer service is first class, and they were very helpful and patient with this mother who had a million questions about everything! She was able to take her state testing with the same instructors she took the class with, which really helped her comfort level during the process. For a minimal fee, they even rushed the processing of her info to the dept of licensing so we wouldn't have to wait to get her license once she passed. All and all, I give Defensive Driving School an A+ across the board! read more
