Never been here before. The first thing I noticed about this hotel were the cute statues on the driveway. The front desk attendant was friendly and kind. We are diamond members, so she have is waters and a choice of snacks. They also had fresh made cookies in the lobby and hit coffee and tea! Each room has a cute little balcony outside with chairs. I walked onto the balcony, and I was greeted with a most beautiful view of a fog covered mountain with a lake in front! ! I had to take away one star because they don't put hair conditioner in the rooms! By the time yiuvreslize there isn't any, you're already in the shower. This decision obviously wasn't made by a woman with long hair. So sadly, I couldn't wash my hair for fear of not being able to comb through it after.

Desk clerk gave little to no explanation as to why nobody told us of the additional cost. We travel with our dog a lot. Not once have I had an issue with not being told about additional fees for pets. Disappointed as Holiday Inn is really good. Not this time.

They also mentioned we were the only guests that night and as a horror movie fan- it made me a little uneasy. The hotel staff called us a couple of times to verify our arrival time to make sure they had our room ready and security would be there to let us in (we felt oh so important). We started up the mountain and after a little way up we stopped to check in with security, a super nice guy who just had us fill out our paperwork and let us know our room would be open for us. We continued up the mountain but stopped frequently to take in the amazing views the altitude allowed. There are lots of spots to stop and sit or stand in awe of the beauty surrounding you. The Sasquatch cut out hidden in the woods was a bonus too! The room was just as amazing as the view. It felt like a little home and the bed was delightfully cozy. Our fridge had some beverages in it to enjoy during our stay as well which I really appreciated! The soaking tub was magnificent and the balcony is magical. We spent the majority of our time sitting on the balcony with some wine and enjoying the most amazing view of the valley below, it was our favorite part of the trip. The only downside was that the restaurant wasn't open during the year we went and there wasn't anything real close by to grab a quick bite. Ultimately we decided we enjoyed the room so much we didn't want to leave to find something to eat and just enjoyed the snacks we brought with us. All in all this place is amazing. I couldn't believe we were the first visitors because the view from this mountain is incredible. I hope they get their restaurant back up and running because I would love to return.

I was so grateful that he allowed my dog to stay with me as it was late and I had already wasted over an hour in several towns trying to find a place. My room was nice and very clean. My dog always sniffs out new places and he didn't linger long in any one spot, meaning there was nothing unusual/interesting (e.g. cat, dog) to smell. So that was a great sign! I checked out the following morning with RV's wife and she was just as freiendly. I highly recommend this place. Thanks for a great stay!

If it's crazy busy I'm patient, but if there are only one or two other tables and the staff is just standing around talking and provide terrible service, it's frustrating. Recently stopped in and stood by the hostess stand for 10 mins without any acknowledgment. They weren't that busy, but the hostess was cleaning tables, so we didn't mind waiting. When she came over no greeting or anything. We asked for a table and she just handed us a buzzer without saying a word. If there's a wait, good grief please just communicate that. I asked how long the wait was as she was walking away and she says "45 mins"... crazy she expected us to wait without telling us how long it would be. I honestly think this place would do much better if it was self-service. The food is OK but the cod sandwich did have visible parasites last time I ordered it.

Yep, 40 years to find this gem. I understand BUDGET & the rate was lowest in the area; however, there should standards to be considered a hotel/motel. This ace would have met none of them. If it's going to stay in business, maybe they should rent by the hour. Pass by this one; pay the extra bucks & chance a 2 star place.

This remarkable growth was driven by the need for a large workforce to support the development of atomic weapons, particularly the uranium enrichment process taking place at the Oak Ridge facilities. The city was shrouded in secrecy during its early years, with its existence not widely known to the public. It played a critical role in the development of the atomic bomb, including the uranium enrichment work carried out at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. There were restaurants, stores, food halls, and recreational structures built to support the city. This pool was one of those structures. This is a historic pool. It was originally constructed in 1944 by the Corps of Engineers and underwent major renovation in 1992-1993. It was reopened in the summer of 1994. The pool is spring water-fed and considered one of the largest in the nation with depths ranging from zero to 13-1/2 feet. It is located between Providence Road and Highland Avenue. It was not open when I stopped by but there is a plaque that describes it's history. It is a massive pool and easy to see from the parking lot. Their website states that it, "...is in need of major repairs as it is leaking large amounts of water each day and does not meet current code requirements. The City has selected a consulting firm to facilitate a planning process and gather data on existing conditions as well as collect community input to determine next steps for the pool."

This facility has a roomy kiddie pool with a mushroom shaped shower for the young ones to frolic through and more fountains as you enter the main pool area that cascade as you walk into the sloping beach-like larger kid area ( about 2 ft deep before reaching the buoy line barrier). As you pass the buoy barrier the decline in the pool continues to approximately 4ft before reaching the dock area; which always have 2 lifeguards constantly patrolling (and I do mean patrolling) for everyone's safety. You have a large grassy area to lie your towels down or set up a sport cover as long as it doesn't extend more that 10ft Sq. Multiple trash receptacles, that are constantly maintained and an ice cream station later in the afternoon. My family enjoys this establishment and will continue to do so.

My husband and I were dressed in nice clothes but several people in the restaurant were wearing jeans so there really isn't a dress code. They had a Valentines menu but you could also order from the regular menu. We decided on the Valentines special: an appetizer to share (we chose shrimp cocktail), a choice of 3 entrees- Steak on a Stone, Lobster Ravioli or Tuscany Chicken (we both chose the Steak which was a 5oz filet seared on both sides and served on a 450 degree stone rare. The stone would continue cooking the steak until your desired doneness. I like mine Med but my husband likes his Med Rare so this worked out well for us. We both got a choice of 2 sides. I chose fried okra and baked potato. My husband chose mashed potatoes and green beans. We both got a dessert - a small red velvet cake plus a chocolate covered strawberry. The meal was DELICIOUS, the service was EXCELLENT and the atmosphere was very calming and pleasant. The pianist was an added bonus. We will definitely be back but we won't wait for a special occasion!

It is a bit of a drive but we had heard good things and decided to give it a try. I called in to check about reservations this past Thursday for dinner for two for the following night, Friday. I asked if a reservation was necessary and they said it is recommended so I set up our reservation for 7 PM Friday. We arrived a few minutes early and waited at the hostess station until 7:10 when the hostess showed up. She confirmed our reservation and said she had to check on our table. After 5 minutes or so she came back and apologetically said that it would be another 10 minutes so we went to the bar at 7:15. We waited another 10 minutes before finally being asked what we wanted to drink which was served about 5 minutes later. At 7:35 the hostess said our table was ready and we were escorted to it. The dining area was full and there were two large tables that seemed to be part of the same group and they were finished with dinner but were now drinking heavily. My guess is that they were tying up their many tables. After being at our table for 10 minutes we were brought over some rolls and butter and asked what we wanted to drink. We took the opportunity to order as well to get the show on the road. My wife ordered their salmon and I ordered the ribeye and both of us ordered a salad. We got the water and iced tea we asked for a few minutes later but the salads never showed up. At 8:05 we had enough and left. The server seemed surprised when I told her that then I said we had a 7 o'clock reservation and that over an hour later, we were still waiting for our salad with no main course in sight. Our evening was saved when we went to Tazwell and had a steak and salmon at the Rail Spikes Steaks. Great service and the best ribeye and salmon ever! I always look for the good and try to give grace on my reviews but our Woodlake Steak House experience was terrible. I don't blame the staff as they were kind and friendly. They said one of the servers called in sick. Management was not visibly present as far as I could tell. A good manager would be there in the mix, working to fill in for the staffing shortfall and talking to folks like us that were getting such poor service. As Jerry Seinfeld once said, "See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation. And that is really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anyone can just take them."

When we heard new owners took over this year we were extremely excited as the rooms were not great and the water pressure was poor at best. When we checked in this year it was already a mess. An employee had to jump up and look in each window to find an empty room since the room we were told we were in was occupied. After 3 hours we were finally in a room. The rooms were much nicer! The water pressure was amazing! Ok this is looking better. The price increased more than 2x from 2020 to 2021 so we were expecting it to be nicer. The marina is completely redone and great. The new food is perfect. Sadly that is the last positive thing I'm going to have to say. While on our stay we never got a single fresh linen/towel/wash cloth etc. even though we asked for them every day. "Sorry they aren't getting enough clean ones to me" is what the lady in charge of cleaning told us. There were NO blinds/curtains in the entire place. So if you wondering if you are being watched, any of the house boats or any one on the lake could get 11 free shows. This also made sleeping very difficult. We were traveling with two small children and were excited to see they had wifi, helps with rainy day entertainment and night time winding down. It was down the entire time we were there as was the TV. This was not a fun experience especially since cell reception here is non existent. So double the price for no curtains, loud neighbors until 2-3 with paper thin walls, no tv or wifi, and no clean linens. Yeah I'm not thrilled. Now for the main reason for a one star. Chandra. As a business owner myself the one person that is the most important is your manager. The face that people see can makeup for a bad time or make a good time even better. But wow this lady was beyond rude, didn't care at all, and just had no ability to be professional. Told us after we told her what we'd like to see improved "yeah it was a real sh*$ show this year". What?! Not sorry. That and yeah it was busier than we expected are all you can say. They have ZERO organization, they didn't know what rooms were full or not, they attempted to kick out my in laws as they were supposed to check out Saturday (clearly paid through Sunday on all emails sent back to them l), and then had the audacity to say "I'm sick of you people's attitude". We met Brad during our stay and the guy seems nice but he needs to find new help yesterday. We will never be back! I understand people are short staffed and things come up but the lack of professionalism or even common courtesy is something that can't be looked past. Pay over 2x for a better looking room but the worst experience ever.

There is no room to take your dogs out - their "dog park" is a small 10x10 patch of fenced grass. The WIFI does not work, we had to use our phones hot spot to watch TV and use our laptop. The laundry facilities are gross, washers stink, dryers won't dry your clothes (after 1 hour in the dryer, I'd expect my clothes to not come out damp). The bathrooms on site are okay - they also have a foul smell of urine and sewer. The shower curtains are see through and too small for the showers. The location of this place also sucks - next to a rock quarry where you will hear nothing but loud equipment all day and into the night. If you're looking for a cheap one night stop on your way through, this might be the place. If you're looking for a nice, relaxing campground, this isn't it!!!
