My friend was in town so we decided to take the kids for a day trip here! We purchased the drivethru and hands on combo ticket. The kids had an absolute blast. You definitely need to go to both. At the hands on park there were baby goats roaming, little pigs roaming, you can get up close and personal with llamas, and so much more. My kids especially loved holding the little bunnies! You can't pick them up yourself but an employee will place them on your lap for you. I highly recommend buying the stuff to feed the animals. You can get pellets, carrots, apples, and little sticks with birdseed on them for the bird enclosure. Watch for signs because some animals can't have the pellets and some can't have anything at all. There are also a bunch of play structures for the kids to play! Twice a day they have bottle feedings and you can call ahead to book or book when you get there! You can't have outside food and the website says they sell food but it's just snacks, ice cream, and other similar treats. We did not know and hadn't eaten so we were so hungry! My son wanted to eat the carrots for the animals The drivethru was also great. You have to have the windows rolled up and the door locked while you drive through the Bear portion. There was a Bear that did a somersault right in front of the car! It was so cute! You can buy a bucket of pellets to feed most of the animals in the drive-thru too! Be careful though! There was a camel that ripped the bucket right from my hand! He was too strong for me If you have leftover pellets from the walk-through portion, ask the person at the gate of the drivethru for an empty bucket and you can dump them inside to feed the drivethru animals! read more

There are loads of fun things to do, however it can get pretty expensive pretty quickly.

If you're a first time visitor, I highly recommend going through both the "Safari" and the main farm. For the drive thru safari, they have a variety of animals, from Alpacas to bears to camels to giraffes. You can purchase a bucket of feed for $9, but make sure you hold on to the bucket tight, because all of the animals are super strong! We ended up losing one of our buckets to the deer, haha! In the main farm area, they have some really cool play structures and tunnels that go underground and above ground. The kids had a blast crawling all over the place. Our favorites were the bird exhibit and the bear exhibit. The birds are not afraid of humans and will flock to you as soon as you enter their area. Im the bear section, we got to see the two brown bear brothers wrestle and "fight" over who got to sit in the pool. The brown bears were very interactive and would run with the children along the fence, back and forth. The biggest hit for our kids was the corn kernel area. It's essentially a giant pit filled with dried corn kernels. Our kids played in there for a good hour and didn't want to leave! It's also a great place to relax and cool down out of the heat. They have a bunch of animals that you can pet and hold if interested. For us, the safari was a great one time experience and likely wouldn't be something that we would drive through again, but the main play area is where we will definitely be going back to time and time again! read more

This is a straight up drive through zoo. Not a petting zoo but an enclosed zoo where the animals can bump, scratch, lick and even damage your vehicle. Luckily that did not happen to us on this trip. You pull in, pay, sign a waiver and are given buckets of food (for a cost) to feed the animals. Our vehicle had two buckets and it was not enough. The buffalo straight snatched that bucket and all it's contents. He was so strong. One of the bears climbed up on the bumper of the vehicle and the deer were no afraid at all. There is a QR code you scanned that would give you information on the animals as you drive through the park. I really enjoyed that. I thought it was nice for a one time see and do but don't see myself going back. read more

This place is Amazing!! We did the Safari Adventure Drive through. It was well mapped out so we knew where to go. The rules were easily understandable. We fed several Llama, deer, cattle, highland Cows and Bison. We drove through the Bears which was really cool! We visited the Zebras and Giraffe! Semi pricey but not horrible as it's well worth it. The food buckets for the animals costs separate but yup, still worth it! The staff are very friendly and willing to answer questions. The entire park is welcoming and clean! We did the drive through version and couldn't stop laughing. The animals have their routine down, which includes purposefully blocking your car (alpacas) or diving right into the car (camels, ostriches, cows). If you want to get super close to some hungry animals, this is the place. Just be prepared to clean drool and pellets out of your car after. read more

We typically love this place! Spend hours here, my son loves it. This trip, we brought the family here and it was $100 to walk through the door. That's not including the pet feed. I had three encounters with staff in the park, and three out of three times I found the staff to be impatient and essentially just straight up rude to my five-year-old son. At one point I had to say something to the bird employee for being disrespectful when my son asked questions and leaving him out, allowing other kids to do things and saying, "nope!" And walking away when my son asked to do the same. I was pretty disappointed this visit, not looking forward to another trip back for awhile if at all this season. Staff should be trained to work with children. And my son is anything extra or special to where he needs extra attention or care. Just a normal boy enjoying his time at the zoo who didn't deserve the poor treatment. read more

What a super cool place! Wasn't expecting to stay 5 hours or enjoy it as much as we did. We only did the walk through, but it was plenty. You are able to walk right up to animals and feed or pet. Kids absolutely loved not only the animals but the play areas. You could truly let your kids play for a couple hours and they wouldn't get bored. Cool underground tunnels (bring a flashlight. They sell them but just bring your own), and big slides. Also want to add that the entire place was clean. Like exceptionally clean. The animals all appear to be happy and well taken care of. Hands down the best adventure we went on while visiting Michigan for a summer with our four-year-old daughter. It's an adventure park with animals to feed, massive playgrounds with underground tunnels, a Western town built for kids and an ice cream shop. It's a paradise. Here's why you should go: 1) Amenities: It's $12 per person (kids under two are free), but considering you could spend all day (they are open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the summer), it's worth every dollar. They have two large playgrounds with tunnels, slides, ropes, etc. to play on. They have multiple areas where you can feed animals from cows to goats to camels. There's a Western town set up for kids with baby goats roaming free. Kids can hold bunnies, guinea pigs, etc. There's a store with a few toys at reasonable prices and an ice cream shop. Kids LOVE this place. 2) Staff: They are very friendly, helpful and keep visitors and animals safe. If you need anything, it's easy to find a staff member to help. 3) Cleanliness: Considering how many kids and animals roam the park, they do a great job of keeping it clean. 4) Location: It's 30 minutes outside of Grand Rapids, not too long of a drive for kids. Pro-tip: If you're on a budget, park in the lot and play on the playground outside of the entrance. It's free and with underground tunnels, it keeps kids entertained for awhile. read more

For Memorial Day weekend, my family and I went to Deer Tracks to look at the animals and enjoy the warmer weather. They promptly opened at 10, and while the front said we needed masks to enter, many employees and patrons weren't wearing masks. The line to purchase tickets moved fairly swift and the kids just wandered the lobby and looked at the various taxidermy on the walls. They have significantly expanded since last summer and there were so many animals to see! Birds, cows, goats, alpacas, camels, donkeys, bears and so much more. Even with COVID, people were really respectful of the space while outside (and you can only control young kids for being 6ft apart a little bit at a time). The staff were friendly and helpful if needed but the park had a lot of space that allowed you to stay away from others. You can purchase food to feed the different animals and were allowed to pet almost all of them. It's a great spot that you can enjoy animals and outdoors and even grab some ice cream as a treat after! It's a fun spot and highly recommend visiting. Only knocked a star based on mask signage and not enforcing it even though CDC guidance states vaccinated individuals don't need masks. It would be good to enforce it as appropriate. read more

We love Deer Tracks Junction! I'm pretty hesitant about visiting animal places because I don't love the smell, but Deer Tracks is the cleanest animal place I've visited. The workers are always working hard to keep it clean. We also love that almost every time we visit there is something new to see. This year we loved the baby goats, bears, guinea pigs, and the baby bunnies. We also love visiting Sandman, the camel. They sell food cups to purchase for animal feedings. We also purchased a calf feeding time, which my son loved. (I think it was $5.) He fed one of the calves a bottle. In addition to the animals, the play areas are amazing! Pack some flashlights or head lamps for the tunnels. My son can play there for a long time. We always end our visit with some of their delicious ice cream. read more

After having our window broken by a camel, we do not recommend the Drive Thru Safari. Buying the food for the animals was definitely the wrong choice! In my opinion, feeding the animals should not be allowed. The camels were way too aggressive; we could not get their necks out of our car! When I called & respectfully asked if others have voiced any concerns, the manager simply said no; it was our fault (for rolling the window up & down at the wrong time, when the rules state you must roll your windows up during the safari, for the bears!) This place was so adorable! I would highly recommend to everyone! I'm always hesitant to visit "zoo" type places... as I'm very cautious as to why the animals are here and not out in the wild. But I was very impressed as there were signs and explanations everywhere as to why these animals could not be out in the wild. I sincerely appreciated that this place took the time to make this information known. My favorite part of this place were the baby pigs! They were the cutest things and obviously very well taken care of (just like the rest of the animals)!! It was so fun because the little piggies could just roam around on their own, so you could pet them, feed them, and interact with them. They were so cute and so friendly! This place is also very clean, and has multiple hand washing stations for after you touch a lot of things or pet the animals. The staff definitely keeps this place well taken care of! And don't forget about the EPIC jungle gym!! I'm a 32 year old adult and I LOVED the jungle gym. Hahaha! My nieces loved taking me through it. Hands down... the coolest jungle gym I have ever seen! It is tradition that after we pick the kids from a week at Camp Concordia we make Deer Tracks Junction our very next stop. I honestly think they look as forward to this as they do to camp itself. For the price of a couple of ice cream cones we are thoroughly entertained. While I know it only gets bigger and better beyond the glass doors leading to the paid portion, I've found that the outside playground attractions and the inside taxidermy exhibits provide more than enough fun for our family. What an asset to the Rockford area. My family LOVES Deer Tracks Junction. We spent years driving by and wondering what it was about before finally stopping for the first time last summer. Admission and animal feed is kind of pricey, but the place is so well kept and the animals are well cared for that we don't mind splurging here now and then. It also helps that there are a TON of really cool play areas and activities to keep the younger kids busy for hours. This place is so, so much fun for everyone. My grandmother lives in the area, so when my teen and I visit, we make sure bring grandma here for a day out. All three of us love interacting with all of the various animals. It's so nice to have an activity that all generations of our family can enjoy together. read more

This is a fantastic place with a hands-on petting zoo (piggies, goats, donkeys, bunnies) as well as the option of bottle-feeding several types of baby animals, including baby yaks, fawns, elk calves, etc. There are also several, fairly elaborate play structures to keep the kids engaged while they roam around and everything is extremely well maintained by the friendly staff. In the main building, there is a theater area with games as well as an Ice Cream shop (The "Plop Plop Shop") with fantastic ice cream and treats. Such a fun place to bring kids - of all ages! We brought our 2 year old here on a cold Saturday afternoon in late September. It wasn't crazy busy, so that was nice! Right away there is a fun playground for kids, even before you enter the lobby to get tickets to see the animals. Once inside there is an ice cream stand and LOTS of taxidermied animals (fair warning if that would freak your kid out). You choose which side (farm animals or deer farm or both) you want to visit, purchase your ticket & any animal treats you want to buy & head out. I felt like a little kid, I was SO excited to see tiny baby goats and baby pigs running around for you to pet and play with! The animals are all very friendly and come right up to the fence to be pet & fed. The LOVED the carrots! There are things for the kids to play on & with, as well. The huge 3 story play ground is amazing for older kids! Huge wooden structure with lots of climbing and slides. Really cool. We didn't do the deer side, but we plan to next time. There were many employees walking around making sure there was no animal poop on the pathways or in the wood chips. Someone was watching the baby bunnies so you could pick them up & cuddle. This place is a money trap, pushy and RACIST. We were perusing the options for ice cream and the counter girl kept asking us if we knew what we wanted to order every other second. There was no one else in line behind us, so no reason to be so pushy. Then after we had ordered, I walked back up to ask if I could have a small glass of tap water - we spent a lot of money here already, they refused to and said the management wouldnt allow it. I don't support plastic water bottles, they are bad for the environment, so I left the counger thirsty and annoyed... but by far what trumps all these plays is when I noticed from the play structure outside, a not so subtle racist "old timey" sign about LYNCHING... they used lynching as a pun in their petting zoo.
