Well it's different. very out of the way, and very beautiful drive and area. Yes for some reason you need reservations? We walked in to a old moldy building and a smell of old frying oil. They were having a large party and we had no reservations so seriously service was forgivable. Cash only ( not forgivable in 2023) I'am sure this family works hard and long, but so do most of there customers . The family needs to get out an visit a few restaurants . Things have changed since 1910 . The food is subjective. The classic dish there is deep fried Pigeon ir maybe Chicken not sure. The plastic cups is a great twist on a Reservation type restaurant. Trust us its not the food that is there foray its location location location. All in all a good trip and worth a visit. just don't set yourself for disappointment. Thats on the menu too. read more

A gem outside of Preston, Idaho, only a 38 minute drive and a beautiful drive from Logan, Utah. They take reservations, sat outside and had music: Beautiful! We had the trout, and it was served pan-friend or grilled, kind of small, there were four people. I like the twice-baked potato, and recommend that. There were two servers, and they were hustling. This is a family owned restaurant for at least 2 generations. The food is great. The atmosphere is next level. I grew up eating here and absolutely love Joy & Jimmy. You must pop at by cash as this remote location doesn't allow for cellular or internet connectivity. read more

Nicest people you would ever want to meet in the most beautiful of places. I struggled with a double baked potato made of reconstituted mashed potatoes served in a tin cup. This is Idaho - do it correctly, please. While it is a partial year business, they don't take credit cards or have an ATM. Easy fix guys. Charge people 5% if you have to. Food was okay if not exceptional. The fryer is their friend. I think BBQ would be a nice touch in addition to trout - and Idaho potatoes, please. read more

If you like out of the way places, you'll love this one. This is a neat place to eat that I don't get to that often (it's about 90 miles away), but I love going there on a summers evening as part of a motorcycle ride - it's a scenic ride to get there. After turning off 91 onto Deer Cub Rd, you go about 9 miles on a curvy back-road before dropping off to the right. There is some gravel once you turn off the road so bikers take care. The restaurant is located at the lowest point of the property off to the right from where you enter. The restaurant itself is a little run-down, but still in good shape and clean. It sits at the bottom of a cliff next to a running brook. There is outside seating out back under the trees. Very scenic and relaxing with the sound of the brook in the background. The atmosphere is what I love about this place. The menu is somewhat limited - there are three basic entrees - Broasted chicken, fish or steak. Prices start at about $10 for the chicken and go to $20 for the steaks. The food, while good, wasn't fantastic although I have never tried the chicken or fish. My steak was a little over-cooked, although it was very tasty. You won't get gourmet food here, but you will get a wholesome meal - the reason I knocked it down to 4 stars. I visited on a Saturday, and they didn't open up until 5:00PM, but they did have live music playing outside - a girl on a guitar with a very sweet voice. Just added to the ambiance. While this may not be a place you want to frequent, I do recommend going here at least once for the experience. read more

Never go there no matter if u leave it cleaner then u left it u will not get ur deposit back the owner charged 700 on top of the 500 the night before we checked out before a walk threw an you have to scrub friges toilets showers. Change sheets most of the beds had big pee stains. Whenever I visit Preston, I visit Deer Cliff Inn for their amazing scones and honey butter. Bring your appetite because each entree is served with a choice of soup or salad. You also get a choice of the twice-baked potato or broasted potato. They have huge, tasty prawns, fresh fish (salmon, rainbow trout) as well as steak. If you're looking for good tasting food in a homey setting, check this place out. It's up the canyon on the Cub River Road so you'll more than likely lose your cell service and be prepared to pay cash. read more

Came to Visit the Grandkids living just outside of Logan Ut. Decided to go to dinner at the Deer Cliff. My wife and I used to ride down the Greman Dugway around 10 years ago with some friends and stop and eat at the Deer Cliff. My kids had never decided to stop there. We asked to be seated on the patio watching the creek run by. The grandkids thought this was pretty cool. Our dinner was great, the scones with the honey butter was also awesome. Service was great and the whole experience was something my grandkids will remember. Kinda was surprised that no plastic only cash or check, but they took my out of town check and didn't even ask for an ID. What a wonder place to do business with.
