Our ride was stunning across the fields and trails on the ranch. And they even picked up my dad in the 4-wheeler to feed the cows while we were horse riding so he felt he could be a part of the day (we had purchased feed for the cows ahead). The entire family enjoyed the ride itself, the guides helped us take photos. Next time we would consider staying in the cabins on the ranch. The driveway was dark, but the cabins were well lit and don't lock. We stayed in one of the 4 identical cabins. The accommodations were nice and had a loft upstairs with two twins. It is a steep ladder and great for kids, but not for adults. The decor was western and featured some taxidermy. This scared some of the little kids we knew at the wedding. The bathroom and main bedroom were a decent size and the kitchenette had a mini fridge and coffee machine, along with the living area with a small TV and chairs/small couch. The grounds were beautiful and was a true farm. The pool was great for the kids and the waterfall made it feel fancy. I loved the open greenery and the animals that roamed, along with the ponies and goats that you could get close to. There is a covered pavilion near the pool that was a hang out spot for our crew. The wedding itself was in the grass next to the reception venue, since it was too wet to have it down in the pasture. The reception venue was large and had high ceilings. The food was pretty good and the two outdoor firepit areas right outside became a place for guests to step out as well. Parking is in a grass lot so beware the shoes you where, especially if it has rained recently.

We did have to ask for more towels for the shower. They do also have shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. There is a hairdryer in the room. The ranch is big with a lot of animals to see. The animals are well taken care of by the friendly staff members. The petting zoo is a great place to take your family into. The animals are all friendly and get along well. They have activities you can partake in for a fee, but if you spend more than two nights in the rooms some are included. The beach area was very nice. It was clean and the water was perfect. They have plenty to keep your kids entertained in the beach area. The pool was nice as well. It had a hot tub. You could rent a golf cart, but the ranch is pretty walkable. They do sell food during the day and you can order a three course meal for dinner. The three course meal can be eaten in your room or at Flo. You can take your own bottle of wine to Flo if you want to eat your meal there. We did the dinner and got the steak, the salmon and the eggplant Parmesan. The salmon was a hit. I will say that I think the meal was pre- package or pre prepared because it wasn't as fresh coming out. They do have a spa, but be aware that it can book up pretty quick. We were not able to get a reservation for massages. They do send you a link to set up your extras prior to your visit, so if you are looking forward to something, get ahead of time. They sell their own honey and you can buy a dozen eggs for five dollars. We received a welcome gift of honey and sourdough bread. We ate the first day we were there and it was delicious. They also have complementary snacks and drinks in the check-in area for guest. They did have a food truck area where they sell items such a as chicken tenders, fries, and ice cream. We were told there was 160 people on the property yet it felt peaceful and private the whole time we were there. I was truly in heaven,. I would not hesitate to return. Definitely a great place for families or weekend with your girlfriends.

Some things to know when traveling to get here make sure you turn on 10655 Katy Hockley Rd. There's a black mailbox that has an arrow to turn there. Do it because I missed it the first time and it was pain to u-turn on this tiny road. It's a bumpy road and parking was limited for our party but we made it work. I enjoyed my time here.

Our small group started with miniature pony brushing and then got to dress up their animals in various accessories. From there they got on smaller horses with a guide leading them and learned basic skills, like stopping (whoa) and had a lot of fun riding around the enclosed area circle. They even played a few games like red light green light. After that they learned to walk with the miniature ponies and even got to take them over a jump and through an obstacle course. We then finished the day with a little carriage ride with the owner, Paige. The highlight of their visit (they said later) was learning to clean out a horse stall. Who knew they loved cleaning so much! All of the guides were wonderful. The main gal that did the instructing was just so lovely and sweet to the kids explaining everything with patience. Definitely a must visit for anyone looking for this kind of experience in the area.

I was with two other gal pals and we were attending a holiday bash at our friends' family ranch three miles away; we didn't want to drive all the way back to Houston after drinking, so we booked our one-night stay at Night Bird Ranch. It's off the beaten path from the small town of Ledbetter, but that makes for a quiet and private retreat. We booked the Lonesome Dove and Hidalgo rooms; rooms were clean - recently renovated with plenty of towels, blankets, pillows, and a space heater for those extra chilly nights. We had two rooms with two twin beds - beds were firm. Bedding was comfortable. Soaps and shampoo/conditioner was provided, but it's the kids kind, so if you like your fancy products, pack your own. Kiki and her family live on the 70-acre property; she is a friendly host and we felt welcomed during our stay. Upon arrival, she gave us a tour and even let us assist with feeding the animals the morning we left. She also gave me a cash refund because they had a special discount rate for the night and honored that for me - without me even asking about it. Real hospitality! There's a dance hall/dining hall where Kiki provides wine, coffee, tea and snacks. Our stay included a hot breakfast, and it was fantastic! Fresh biscuits, eggs, sausage gravy, sausage links (and of course, cereal for the kiddies). Onsite there's a lake, acres of exploring, campfire station, and animals: three horses, 2 lambs, and a miniature donkey - and don't forget about Elvis the ranch dog! Love that Kiki and her family are animal lovers. Keep in mind though, outside dogs from guests are not allowed because of the many farm animals. My girlfriends and I fully enjoyed our stay and want to return with a group to have a little ranch life fun. We left before breakfast, but heated up some of our leftovers from dinner, in the dining hall, to eat on the road. We loved our stay at Night Bird Ranch and plan to come back again, to get away from it all.

Nestled in close to the Renaissance Fair and downtown Magnolia, this was the perfect place; close to our home. Setting up the appointment for a lesson was quick and painless; used facebook messenger to work out the best time. Prices varied, depending on the type of lesson, were very reasonable, and all proceeds went back to the horses on the ranch. I would quickly learn that everyone is a volunteer, as this home is for horses rescued & rehabilitated from someone the harshest circumstances. We arrived to meet with Niki, owner and operator. She was an amazing guide and teacher. She and her son helped explain everything to my wife and I prior to mounting our amazing rides; Gunner & Hershey. They were both very patient with our questions, taking safety very important. Best part of the experience was enjoying the ride without having to take any photos. Niki did all of this for us without having to worry, and sent us all of the amazing pics after the ride. All and all, the hour or two we spent here was very special and we will soon not forget it. Highly recommend a visit if in town for a visit, or even living close by. Helping these amazing animals was the best thing ever!

I asked the owner to call me if there was a cancellation and to our delight, we received a phone call an hour or so later. We were in! I really appreciated that. The owner was extremely nice and informative -- we learned a lot about alpacas. Our 15-month-old seemed to enjoy seeing and feeding the adorable alpacas. The tour is very reasonably priced at $10 per person (card or cash). Our baby was free but I'm not sure about prices for older children. They have a huge shop full of alpaca products. Highly recommended! Just try to make an appointment further in advance to get a spot.
