Started writing this in 2021: "I had my first appt with Dr. Ram during the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 and we did an video chat call. She was very sweet and let me discuss anything that I wanted to go through with her. She requested me to get blood work done yearly and we review it together to make sure everything looks good which I appreciate. Disclaimer: I did not actually come in for an appointment. In search of a primary care physician, I stumbled upon Dr. Ramachandran on Zocdoc and decided to schedule an appointment, after reading a bunch of good reviews on the Zocdoc site. I decided to cross-reference Yelp and one reviewer stated that the new patient appointment is strictly family history & blood work order- NO physical exam. Given that I'm currently on a high-deductible plan, I definitely did NOT want to have to come in for a separate visit, since only my annual physical is covered- but also, having to come in twice is pretty inconvenient with my work schedule. Prior to my appointment, I thought I'd call just to understand and as it turns out, the other reviewer was correct. I asked if there was any way I could have both done in the same visit, since I'm on a high-deductible plan and they said that that was the Dr's standard procedure. With no other option, I chose to cancel my appointment. I'm really glad I checked Yelp and dodged a large, unnecessary bill. Where do I even begin...she and her staff are so fake. They said they will do something, ya know, their jobs...such as ordering labs, speaking to insurance, sending claims, but they don't, which makes me have to follow up daily until they do, IF they do. Then, they go back on their word, saying they didn't order that, but it is probably because they got annoyed at my constant follow ups, which by the way, were with professionalism and patience, unlike them. In the end, no labs were ordered, then the visit was pointless. Addressing these issues with the staff and doctor directly did absolutely nothing, neither. They simply didn't care. Chance after chance were given but alas the ultimate feedback will be this review. They claim they are compassionate? How arrogant to make that self-praise. Moreover, they charge an arm and a leg for no reason! Why? Because they can't process the claims competently, or anything for that matter! The doctor acts kind, but is really fake; in reality, completely condescending, even feels like gaslighting! Because eventually, her true colors show! In regards to competency, turns out she doesn't seem to be know what she's doing anyways. And because of that, refers to other specialists, who turn out to just be like her or worse! They all must be friends or family. I read previous reviews and saw how the doctor herself responded to negative reviews...especially saying "it must be a misunderstanding" - her motto phrase. Rarely do I see doctors respond to reviews, even if you claim you didn't intend to be incompetent, how about reflect upon yourself towards patients, and be a better person for those new patients after us! Stay away from Dr. Ram! I've since found new doctors who are incredibly professional, competent, compassionate, respectful, kind, patient, understanding, who goes above and beyond for their patients! These doctors' staff are the same, they send lab and prescription orders immediately, process and even calls insurance to help with claims, referrals and any issues that arises - overall resolves both medical and admin issues smoothly and quickly! I now know better...as in medical professionals, heck anyone, should treat patients/others kindly. The world needs more kindness, especially from those in "power" so why use that "power" to treat people lowly just to raise yourself up? In reality, you just go much lower. New clinics are much better compared to how it was at Dr. Ram's, where she took months to get one lab order, one prescription, when there were more to be prescribed, and without them doing their job, they charge astronomically, for what?! Honestly don't know how they sleep knowing they didn't help or perform impeccable work...do they not realize they cause more harm (waste patients' time, money, energy, resulting in more worrying, stress, delaying of diagnoses, even serious issues, and treatments) than any good? I wrote to Dr. Ram to express my disappointment and have not heard back from her. I send it along with my check which has been deposited. I hate to write this bad review but I do feel that people should be aware before coming to this office. 1. If you are a new patient, you will need to have two visits for your physical. A pre-physical appointment to collect your health history and order blood work then you have to come back again to go over the bloodwork. If you have insurance with a high deductible, you will be expecting a bill of $200+ since it's considered an office visit and not your 100% covered routine physical. The next visit will be your physical. I fought the first visit and was able to get it waived but I somehow received another bill for $41.95. I just paid it because I do not want the headache it takes to get it resolved. Dr. Ram goes though a third party biller and you have to call office then biller -- back and forth --then office to figure out what's going on. Never been to a new office where I had to go to two appointments. I took a day off for my first visit and have a busy work schedule so it was extremely inconvenient. 2. If you do decide to come here, be careful. I was told I needed a hep B vaccine but luckily they did not have it in stock. I was traveling so I thought I needed it urgently. I went to my occupational health service and requested the vaccine. They asked for my bloodwork and I gave them the results based on what Dr. Ram ordered and told me. The other doctor reviewed my bloodwork and told me that I didn't have the right test. This just says you don't have it right now but doesn't tell me if you're immune. It was a Thursday and they said I would need more blood work to confirm and wouldn't be back until the following week. I was leaving that weekend. I called Dr. Ram and her staff said she was not available then after explaining where I was they came back to tell me Dr Ram said that I'm "probably" immune. Imagine if her office did have the vaccine, I could have been given that at random with no evidence that I truly needed it...that's scary! Dr Ram is a Great Doctor!! She spends time with each patient and takes the time to listen. I had another doctor for years who was a really good Dr but I didn't feel he listened. The first time I went to Dr Ram she heard my concerns and acted on them. She takes my health seriously. I am glad she sees patients more than once a year. I would not recommend her to anyone. Yes, she is nice but the information she provided to my mom was incorrect. History: My mom has been experiencing terrible back pain near her left kidney. She made her first appointment with Dr. Deepa. At this time Dr. Deepa explained that it couldn't be a pinched nerve or pulled muscle because of the way my mom was moving. At this appointment Dr. Deepa ordered a ultra sound. Now, I went with my mom to the follow up appointment. During this appointment Dr. Deeps explained to my mom that she has calcification's embedded in her kidney. She also told my mom that she has blood in her urine and that she would always have blood in her urine. Dr. Deepa said that if the pain continued to call and make another appointment and at that time order a CT or MRI. ONE thing that she did do was give us a name of a urologist if we wanted to see one. Today (9/24/15): My mom went to her urologist appointment. When she showed up, Dr. Deepa's office had NOT sent over the results of the lab work or the ultra sound as requested 2 weeks prior. The urologist office had to call several times before they sent the information over. During her appointment with the urologist it was discussed that the ultra sound did NOT show calcification's in the kidney, in fact her kidneys are fine. He also went over her labs and it showed NO sign of blood in her urine. After further examination it was ruled that in fact my mom DID have a pinched nerve -- something that Dr. Deepa ruled out immediately because of movement! My mom is now being seen by and mind and body doctor to help her work thru her pinched nerve. Not to mention that when my dad saw her, she thought it was more important to treat a pulled muscle in his shoulder than to treat his high blood pressure and high cholesterol! She didn't even give him a prescription for them! read more

Dr. Ram is a wonderful doctor, and ensures you leave the clinic feeling much much better - just by her bedside manners and conversation skills, she can make the world seem a better place. :) She has been diligent about followups, and always takes the time to understand what is going on. Her patience and genuine concern for her patients are obvious. She helps one understand what happens within the body and why it may be reacting a certain way. Another great thing about visiting Dr. Ram is the option her patients are given for Ayurvedic treatment - which is great. We've only been seeing her for a month, so I won't give her 5 stars just yet, but honestly she is pretty darn close. I have been to many doctors and in general, I am pretty skeptical when it comes to them. I find many don't care about their patients needs. Dr. Ram is the opposite, she definitely cares and she is very thorough and really talks to the patients about the issues they come in with and what she thinks is the best treatments and what they feel comfortable with as well. She is nice, young and easy to understand. The staff there is also SO nice and helpful. I would recommend her to anyone who needs a GP in the area. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Ram for almost a year now and I have nothing but excellent things to say about her and her staff. Dr. Ram is personable and shows a genuine compassion for her patients. She address every question I have thoroughly and goes over every detail until I am comfortable whether it be for a test, new medication, changes in my health, etc. She explores all avenues of treatment options and allows me to make decisions for "what's best for me". I enjoy being able to make my appointments quickly online. Her staff is always prompt to call me after my appointment has been received to confirm. Each time I come in they greet me with a smile and have always been kind. There have been times I have had to wait longer than desired for my appointment, but I understand that some appointments may run over as additional questions come up or more tests need to be run on previous patients. I wouldn't appreciate my appointment being cut off if something came up I needed to discuss, so I understand these things happen. But it's far and few between. 97% of the time I am seen on time. I would recommend Dr. Ram to any of my friends any family who were seeking a new doctor. read more

I reached the office at 1:30 PM, while stepping in to the office I got a call from the front office nurse - ****, she sounded angry, said my appointment was at 1:15 PM and I was running late. I went ahead to the desk and started filling in my details for check-in, another patient walked in after me. After completing the forms I was asked to wait and the other patient who was early to his appointment was told he could see the doctor. Ok, no problem, it was a mis-understanding. 2 patients and 54 mins after I was told I could see the doctor. They had me undergo a vision test, I saw no details of that report. When I asked about it I was told my "eyesight was fine". I was given a hospital gown and asked to wait for another 10-15 mins. The doctor came in quickly went over my lab reports and said she would be back in a bit. 13 mins later Nurse **** comes in and tells me the check up is over and I should go to the front desk. They booked another appointment for me and said I was all set. Later when I called asking for my medical reports, was told they had been uploaded on a website and I should register to access them. Additionally the doctor ordered me to get tests done at their partner lab situated in the same office. I checked the price for the tests with my insurance, it came out to be 817$. Left a note for the doctor asking if the tests were necessary, the nurse called me back saying they were not. It turned out to be a really long affair though I barely spent 15 mins with the doctor, most of it was wasted waiting. The rude and dismissive behavior left a bad taste. I definitely will not be going back to this doctor. Edit : 3 months later I'm paying for things I never knew were done. read more

She is either (always) in India or on pregnancy leave so hardly ever there; thus, you will have to wait until she returns or see another doc in the practice. Of the few times that I did see her she was friendly but you have to sign on for her Ayurvedic regime: classes, diet and such which I wasn't interested in even though the classes are free. Made an appointment for what I thought was a physical but ended up being a "pre-physical" consultation. The wait was a little long, it took about three weeks to get the appointment, the office was a little disorganized and Dr. Ramachandran felt a little rushed, but more or less three-star experience, though I didn't feel that I'd really accomplished anything. Did get a flu shot at least. At the end, the doctor walked me to the front desk to book my follow-up appointment, to occur after I'd had bloodwork. I chose an appointment time and lab and got a little appointment confirmation card. I had my bloodwork sent to them a week later and three weeks after the first appointment I was ready for my first real doctor's appointment. Before leaving work early in San Francisco, having requested PTO, I called to confirm my appointment as I hadn't heard anything from them. Ended up calling about fifteen times to get someone on the phone as I needed to know whether to leave work then. Finally got someone and after a ten-minute hold, I asked to confirm my appointment one hour from then. They had no record of any appointment scheduled for me at any time. And they offered no solution. The doctor was going on vacation so wouldn't be available in the next two months, and I guess there was no way they could accommodate me after their mistake. I still have the appointment confirmation card for the appointment they somehow forgot to book. Now I have to figure out how to transfer my lab work to a new doctor that can see me sometime in the next two months and whose front office can actually book appointments. Pretty negative experience, and I'm out $20 and five weeks as a result. read more

I went to this Dr. and found her to be a very nice person. Later I found they were charging me for office visits that they shouldn't have. I called a number of times and they said a check would be sent to me. Still no check. I went in for what I thought was ear wax to be taken out. When I got there and had a exam. there was No Wax. They did nothing but yet charged the insurance company to clean my ears for $140.00. I still haven't seen a reversal to the insurance company. When I found a new Dr. after all that they were going to charge $50.00 to fax over the paperwork. They later called and said with all the problems they wouldn't charge. * This is not a review about the doctor herself but her front office staff at southbay family medicine. * I found Dr. Ram from ZocDoc and wanted to give her a practice a try as I have a new health plan. I tried to setup an appointment online and the website wasn't working. So I called the front office and reached their voicemail. I left a voicemail asking them to call me back so I can setup an appointment but I never received a call. I decided to call their office 2 days later to give them another chance. This time a lady in front office picked up the call and she had no intentions to do her job right. She sounded sick which is understandable but it's not an excuse to do a job badly. I had to ask her about appointment dates and times, then about the lab facilities and then about scheduling appointment for lab facilities etc. A smart receptionist should sense that the caller would naturally be interested in these things and should be more forthcoming with information. I barely could hear her and asked her to repeat a bunch of times. Then I realized she's on speaker phone and I am giving out my DOB. I hope someone didn't overhear. I did not get a positive vibe out of the front office and decided to go somewhere else. Seriously, what kind of front office runs like this? If you do not like the job, go do something else and stop wasting everyone's time. The doctor might be a fine one but she should pay attention to whom she hires as front office staff. I came to dr Ram when she first opened her practice. I had super high cholesterol (off the charts) and was close to being a diabetic. My cholesterol is within the limits and my blood sugar is also within limits. In the 3 plus years I've been seeing her I have never had to wait more than a few minutes. Dr. Ram is an awesome doctor. I had been trying to find the right female GP for quite some time and was referred to her by my father who sees Dr. Kochar in the same building. Dr. Ram is young and enthusiastic about her job and it is easy to see that she cares about her patients. She made sure that as soon as I became a patient, my past health records were sent over so that she could get a better understanding of my medical history. She follows up with me immediately after any tests and is even willing to text me as a reminder for upcoming appointments! When I made my initial appointment with Dr. Ramachandran, she was my only option based on my HMO policy. However I decided to stay with her even after my policy changed and became a PPO due to her kind and caring attitude, and her professionalism. After getting a new insurance plan, I researched MD's in the area and found Dr. Ramachandran. I made an appointment for the next week which was great since I have had to wait weeks, even months to make an appointment with a new MD. Her office is clean and nice. The front office staff, especially her medical assistant was very kind. They answered my questions and were very polite. Dr Ram (as she is know for short) is so easy going, professional, knowledgeable and really knows medicine. I really like that she incorporates healthy lifestyle habits and auravedic medicine, if that's what you are into, which I am . She is into meditation and eating well which I appreciate. She also got me a referral to a dermatologist right away. I have seen Dr Ram on a number of occasions and I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for my appointment. My wife worked for a MD years ago and said there are sometimes Doctors run late because of a particular tricky case, but I have not run into this situation. Dr Ram is smart, attractive, to the point and has a sense of humor. All the things I want in a Primary care provider. I highly recommend Dr. Ram. read more

Wonderful Family Doctors who really got to know you and your family like this existed in my grandparents time but great news is Dr Ram gives the thorough care like the doctors back then. She is also whip smart and thorough. I had a period of health difficulties the past two months and she and her staff bent over backwards and jumped through hoops to ensure I got the care that I needed and they made sure it happened fast. This was not easy since they had to correspond back and forth with my insurance company to get some testing approved. They did it without complaint and with patience and love.
