Migraine Prevention Pregnancy…read morePostpartum I can't recommend Larry enough. I began seeing him in 2014. I now budget his services in to my monthly expenses. I decided that regular massage therapy with Larry was more economical and Enjoyable than missing a day or three of work due to migraines. He has a keen ability to intuit what his clients need. I have sent several friends to him, and all come back to me with blissed-out gratitude for their awesome time. Recently I navigated through pregnancy as well as postpartum. The body goes through such constant change. I know my family (husband included) benefited from me taking this time for my body and myself. Larry also makes house calls if leaving your home doesn't work for you. You'll benefit from a quiet area and warm towels if you are able to make it to his location. There is a convenient parking structure right across the street, so there's no need to stress about parking timing out. Get a 90min!! Go, relax, and take care of yourself! You will not be disappointed.

I am by no means an athlete so the only time I've ever had massage was for relaxation at full service hotel spas. I didn't realize it could be used to treat pain or that I even had pain. I am able to see Larry more often, and have learned by going to the same therapist multiple times he's able to know exactly where I'm hurting and what needs to be worked on. His prices are fair. Overall great massage and less than the price you pay at a spa and better.

I first had a massage from Shannon Hopkins about 6 years ago and was completely blown away…read more I was suffering from upper back tension, knots in my shoulders, and my neck was having a hard time turning to the left. I came to Shannon when she worked in Oakland on the recommendation of a friend, not really sure what to expect. Not only did she impress me with her professional demeanor, but she was warm and friendly and put me at ease right away. Her massage melted away my tight spots with just the right amount of pressure, and her calm way of speaking helped my mind "zone out," which is something I really need. She even offered to do some guided imagery with me, which helped me relax further, and get some useful information from my subconscious. If you see her, know that she's really skilled at facilitating a verbal "journey," if you want it. Since that first time, I've continued to get regular massage from Shannon, up until the time she moved to Santa Barbara. If you're in the Santa Barbara area and could use some therapeutic bodywork, you'll be impressed with Shannon's talent.

Professional, excellent service and very relaxing - will absolutely be coming back for more cupping…read moretreatments in the future! Not many massage parlors in the area offer cupping, and I love the sensation that it brings. I called ahead to check availability for 2 people, even though walk-ins are available, since it was later in the evening ~8:30; and they readily had space for both my partner and I. I did a 30 min cupping session, and he did a body massage in a separate room. The rooms were very clean with ambient music, a chair and coat rack for personal items, and all the products were clearly labeled. My therapist did a great job warming up my back body with oil and a massage before applying the cups; and while the cups were attached, they also massaged my feet helping with the circulation. It was not uncomfortable at all, and I could feel the suction working instantly. I definitely needed this experience because even my therapist seemed a bit shocked at how dark the cupping marks were after they were removed. I recommend showering BEFORE getting this type of treatment, since showering is not recommended till 4-6 hours after cupping as it can irritate the skin and disrupt the healing process. My partner loved the body massage, especially the hot stone treatment, which is included in the service. All of the staff were very friendly and hospitable, bringing us water and offering snacks post treatment, and no loitering around after since their tip is included in the price. $60 for a 30 min treatment was definitely worth it - next time around, I want to try the full body massage with infrared sauna add-on.

Nico is among the best massage therapists/bodyworkers I've ever been to. He's everything you want…read morein a massage therapist. First of all he has "the touch", which can't be taught. You either have it or you don't. For Nico, bodywork isn't just a job, it's also a gift, a purpose, and a passion. He has over 30 years of experience and he's the type of guy who never stops learning about his craft. Bodywork is an art and a science and he's both an artist and a scientist when addressing the complexity of the neuromuscular system. He knows his physiology very well. Checkout his website and read through the articles. His plethora of knowledge is immediately apparent. He's the strongest massage therapist I've ever been to, so when I have a muscle knot in a very deep and strong muscle, he's the guy who can get it to release. But he's offers far more than just physical strength. He is skilled in many different modalities and knows when to apply them. He's well versed in deep tissue work, sports massage, injury-specific massage, myofascial release, neuromuscular work, trigger point therapy, hot stone massage, gua sha, and others. He often combines several of these in a single session as needed to address the specific issues you're dealing with. He's a wealth of knowledge. When years of physical therapy have failed for a variety of the muscle tension-related issues, Nico has provided supstantial relief. For example, one time, all of my symptoms pointed to a very tight psoas muscle. I had been hunched over for days due to the pain. I couldn't stand up straight due to the burning, pinching, radiating pain in my lower back. None of the stretching and strengthening exercises that the physical therapists provided were providing any relief. I asked if they performed psoas releases and each one said no, and that it wasn't necessary for my recovery. I reached out to Nico and asked if he performed psoas releases. He said yes, so I booked the soonest appointment he had. He performed the release and I walked out of the office upright and almost pain free. The massage with Nico was a partially painful 90 minutes, but it was absolutely worth it. Nico also understands to the mind-body connection. He doesn't just deal with the muscles and joints. He also knows how the nervous system is deeply connected with the muscular system. I've suffered from chronic headaches in the past. I came to him with this issue and he released some deep tension in my shoulders and neck and this provided substantial relief. Nico is very compassionate and holds space if you need He understands that trauma can be stored in the body, and when tension in the body is released, long held emotions can also be released. I've broken down in tears on the massage table not from physical pain, but from the release of deeply held emotions that came to the surface as a result of the bodywork. Nico understood this and held a safe space for this emotional expression. It wasn't awkward or uncomfortable at all. Nico is also very generous with offering tips and at-home exercises, ergonomic changes, etc. that will help you to address the root causes of your pain, tightness, and other discomforts. Nico is a genuine, good-hearted person who is skilled in his work. He's also a talented painter and his office is filled with is beautiful art. Come for the excellent bodywork, and stay for the art gallery :)
