I ordered to-go and the açaí had already melted so it was more of a smoothie bowl than an acai bowl. All the ingredients were fresh and high quality though. Pick up was convenient and smooth. There was just one person working at the time I stopped by around lunch time. This is a nice acai option for the Evanston area. But my favorite acai option is Bonita Bowl in Park Ridge. I'd love to give this more than one star but to be honest, I walked in trying to get an açaí bowl. The menu does not have a description of what goes into the bowl so I asked and the gentleman behind the bar but he could only tell me "layers" and açaí. Like... there is a picture here what is in this picture? "layers" Was all he could tell me. I will say there was a language barrier so that contributed to my inability to make sure I got what I wanted. I've ordered from them for over 2 years, this was the first time in a long time that I got the açaí bowl. I was happy to see more items added to their menu like empanadas. How ever, I am very upset once I got my order that it was a very small empanada and it was over cooked. Empanada was hard and was not good. My favorite açaí bowl was also disappointing. Probably the worst acai bowl I've probably ever had. Not worth the price paid and the fruit seemed frozen rather than fresh, the acai was not smooth but chunky. The toppings you choose are supposed to be layered nicely and mine was very much not this. Hate to give poor ratings, but this was not good. The acai tasted just wrong in general - nearly medicinal. It's a super good Açaí bowl here at Deep Purple and açaí is also a super food. I try to choose everything that I can on the menu but they can only cram so many ingredients into the large cup. Açaí is a dark purplish berry that's supposedly berry, berry good for you. I like to order in when I'm not too far so that it'll be ready when I get there. Everything is really fresh and I do enjoy the organic peanut butter layer, so much better than Jiffy. The visual presentation is real appealing - there's a colorful healthy topping of fruit and you can see all of the layers as you dig deeper, they give you a long spoon by the way. If I bring mine home, I usually supplement it with even more bananas, blueberries and strawberries. So that way, I can spread this meal out over two days. These are really filling and I usually skip lunch after eating about 75 percent of the cup. I love this place! I love how you can choose a variety of toppings for your açaí bowl. Every time I come here the people working are always super friendly and helpful. The granola and pb are yummy additions. The granola has a nice crunch and the creamy pb helps balance out the fruits and açaí. I really love the the Deep Purpl franchise and go to locations across the city. On the the last three occasions, the employee stated they were not serving smoothies that day. I used to work in the service industry so I understand things run out. Still, this has only happened with the one employee. All the other times I have been in, I have been able to order a smoothie with zero issue. This honestly feels like an employee just doesn't want to do her job. Didn't offer an apology. As soon as I walked in she said "no smoothies today" without looking up her phone. Again, I'm sympathetic to service workers but I'm not going to spend on a place that won't value me. Wow, really bad. I ordered a large for lunch and had about 1 strawberry and a third of a banana. There was sprinklings of coconut and granola. Basically just big cup of only acai for $17.00. I came here a few times and with the few times I came, their customer service is not the best. I came in last month and order an açaí bowl. Note that I was the only person in store while I ordered and after I finished ordering, about 3-4 people came in just looking at the menu. While waiting for about 5 mins I noticed the guy behind the counter kept messing with the machine. It looked like it wasnt working properly and I knew I had to wait for a bit which was fine as I was not in a hurry. 10 mins passed and there was a good amount of people waiting for their mobile orders. the guy then proceeded to let me know and a few other people that ordered after me, that their machine was not freezing the liquid fast enough and asked if we wanted a smoothie instead . Of course I said sure and told him which one I wanted .. it took a total of 30 mins to get my smoothie.. I was a bit annoyed that everyone got their order/smoothie before me when I was the first one to place an order. I was the last one to leave the store with my smoothie. The second time, I placed my order on the app and usually I give a good amount of time when placing the order and picking it up. I believe it was 15-20 mins after placing, I went inside and expected the order to be already made and for me to just pick up and go. Doesn't seem like it cause she started to make it once I told her I was here for a pick up. I guess it's a good thing so it doesn't melt but I did mobile order for convenience wise and didn't want to wait that long. Overall this place is good. I got the açaí bowl. It was AMAZING! The purée's texture was creamy but still refreshing. The taste was amazing. You get to choose different toppings, and all the toppings were fresh and delicious.
