We had a great time visiting the Deep Creek Lavender Farm, arriving at the tail end of the season. We spent about 30 minutes on-site, taking photos among the droopy (late season) sunflowers, the wooden standees, and in and around the boutique, which has a range of lavender-themed products. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the Deep Creek Lake area.

It included picking a bouquet of flowers, a vase, two glasses of wine and a cheese box. When you arrived everyone was very friendly and check-in was easy. You started with a hay ride and then off to pick flowers. They do events like this often, so definitely check them out! We also got to see and feed the goats. Their farm store is super great and lots of great products and produce!

A friend asked me if I would like to go out to get some berries. We got there after berry picking time for the day, which closed around 2 PM, but there was still plenty of time to buy berries in their market, freshly picked by their workers, and enjoy other fun things at the farm! We fed the goats, who were the sweetest, tamest goats I have ever met. (Frankly, they completely changed my opinion about goats, with which I have had some unpleasant memories in the past.) You can pay a quarter for some food and feed it to them by hand, and not a single one took it from me anything less than gently. There is also a super cute feature where you can send some food up to goats standing at the top of the pen via a pulley system. There were several baby goats here when we visited and they were ridiculously adorable. From there it was a stop at the café window where we ordered strawberry lemonade slushies that were an absolute delight. It was late in the day and they were out of several of the food offerings; I was told by my friend that the hot pretzel is fantastic, but didn't get to find out. So I went with some freshly made donuts, and it was only a few dollars for half a dozen blueberry donuts. They are wonderful eaten fresh just like this, but when you take them home you can heat them up for 10 seconds to get that just-out-of-the-oven taste. Finally we stopped in the shop which is full of all kinds of home, pantry and fresh food items. I came home with a pint of raspberries, a big bunch of strawberries (last of the season!), jars of pickled beets and bread and butter pickles, and a block of baby Swiss cheese. Everything has been absolutely fantastic and it would be easy to go absolutely wild in this store. Lots of events here during different seasons, especially apple and pumpkin season in fall which is their busiest time. After that they close for the year at Halloween. Come out and pick some berries or fresh lavender here this summer! It's a local gem.

Pick your own Strawberries!…read more As we rolled down 211 towards the Shenandoah region we couldn't help but see this sign and pull over to pick some fresh strawberries. The strawberries were very small, but you just can't beat $1.50/lb for fresh strawberries to munch on while you are on the road. They smelled so good and were very sweet. The patch was pretty big, however I think we were a bit late in the season to get the big ones. They also had some other country goodies in the store like homemade sauces and honey and other fresh produce. if we weren't in a hurry to get back on the road i could have easily stocked up on some local Virginia honey.

When you arrive for picking you go in and sign your name and put down the make and tag of your car. After that the person at the front desk will give you milk jugs or a cardboard box to hold the fruit you picked. The price is per pound, for example blueberries are $3.99 a pound and black rasberries are $5.99 a pound. The availability of the different fruits/vegtables is dependant on the season so make sure you call ahead. Depending on what you decide to pick you will either be able to pick right outside of the store or you will need to go on the main road and take the first right where you will find the second part of the farm. There they have rows and rows of different fruits and vegtables for you to pick. Once you've picked your fill you head back to the store and pay. The store also offers a variety of homemade dressings, pre-picked vegtables and honey for sale. Very important to note: They only take cash or check, not card. The restrooms are also located in the back left of the store. Theres no mens and womens restrooms just one. Definitely bring hats as there is not shade when picking. Overall, its a fun way to spend time with friends and family. I would definitely recommend this place.

They had live music, farm activities, and a lot of stuff for kids to see. There is a big slide area which my son loved. There is also a second slide behind the building where there is outdoor seating. It was a nice area that allowed parents to eat while the kids continued to play. We all split a bunch of the food options. We had the whole chicken, ribs, cabbage and noodles, Mac and cheese, and potato salad. Everything was delicious. You can tell it is all homemade. The ribs were my favorite. The meat was so tender, it fell off the bone. The bbq sauce was also delicious. The cabbage and noodles were also really good. Before leaving we got some of their ice cream. I had the chocolate peanut butter and it was amazing. It had so many peanut butter pieces and the chocolate flavor was perfect. We also took a gallon of their fresh chocolate milk to go, which did not last long at our house. Highly recommend stopping here, especially for those with kids.
