The place is a dive and not in a good way I like dives but this was not a nice place. It was cold and very worn looking. I ordered grilled tilapia and the wife got a lobster roll. My mom loves this place. She's a supporter of black businesses like me. And she appreciates good seafood, so it was only right for us too reserve a table for her birthday dinner here was our server. Last night was our third visit to DBS, and we definitely won't be back. Must've changed owners and/or cooks since the first time we were there a few years ago. It got worse each time. I ordered the grilled walleye with fries. The fries were drenched in grease and they placed my grilled fish on top of the fries, which didn't help matters. I was tried to sop up the grease with my napkin. My fault for not sending them back, but I just got done vomiting this morning due to a greasy stomach. The bathroom toilet and sink were clean, but the room itself was disgusting. Looks like they better do some work in there or it may rot. I would be embarrassed to have my guests use it. I had an amazing experience! We had a taste for seafood so off to yelp I went just to stumble upon this gem of a restaurant. Our server was so nice knowledgeable and pleasant she made suggestions and they were all good options! The building is blue and looks little from the outside but there are several booths and tables inside there was plenty of room for at least two or three large groups. The food was really good it was delicious, seasoned and cooked well I had shrimp pasta the sauce wasn't homemade but it was still good! My mom had a catfish po boy and my daughter had the mini seafood boil plus we had calamari and fried green tomatoes oh AND we took shrimp and fish tacos home for my dad and wife!!! The atmosphere was nice and the staff was very friendly. We really enjoyed ourselves and the Karaoke DJ Meechie is a definite bonus. If it was just the food and service, I would give this place 5 stars. Our server, Mia was tremendous. She was pleasant and has a great smile. She made sure to get the food out to us promptly. This was our first time there so we didn't know what to expect except that it had received some positive comments from a local Facebook site. The owners and chefs are from New Orleans and they sure know how to cook. I had the steamed lobster and corn on the cob. My daughter had the lobster roll while my son-in-law started us off with fried green tomatoes. He then ordered some gumbo and a shrimp spaghetti. Everything was delicious. And the price is very reasonable. What a pleasant surprise. The real negative is the facility itself. The building is small and not fancy at all. The main parking is around back. Went on a spontaneous date with my hubby. I suggested this place to my husband due to social media and a dear friends good recommendation. Walking in, the vibes were great. Loved the music they were playing. Its a seat yourself place. The server was very attentive and nice. I ordered a Short Island and my husband ordered a beer. The short Island did not taste very good but still drank it. My husbands beer came 3/4 filled, thinking it was a fluke, he ordered another one and got the same amount. Ordered a Sagittarius & Aquarius Boil, didn't mind the 25 minute wait. We ordered a medium size Alligator Bite while waiting, which was quite good. The batter was crispy and the bites were piping hot. But $23 for the portion we got was ridiculous. The boil came out shortly after, smelling and looking amazing. There was a plethora of crab clusters, a good amount of shrimp but maybe 4 or 5 pieces of sausage and 2 pieces of corn (the menu stated there was only 2 pieces of corn, so it was expected). All of the crab was over cooked. It was dry and tasteless, the garlic parmesan butter ($6 additional) helped. The bill was $217.14 (just noticed we were charged $6.88 for credit card, which we paid cash). Gave 2 stars because the appetizer was good. I wanted to love this place so much but needless to say, we won't be back. read more

We found this place in a google search and we are so happy we did! The wait time to order was a little long, BUT they were short staffed and the food made up for it. This is a good place to eat. It's more like a Cajun boil place than a seafood restaurant and that is great. They've got a full bar. There isn't a bar to sit at but they'll make whatever drink you want. I could see back in the kitchen area where the drinks are made and they are fully stocked so feel free to get your drink on. I've been to three Cajun style restaurants in this area. One is out of business, the other is located in a mall and it isn't that great. Then there's this one and it's the one local Cajun place I'll go to every time. I recommend it. It's out of the way and easy to drive by. I've passed this place a hundred times on my way home from work. The parking lot is kind of dark and most of the parking is in the back. When you're driving by at 50mph it's one of those places that gets overlooked. That is a mistake. The restaurant is clean. The service is good. The food is reasonably priced but it isn't cheap food. The crab legs and shrimp were huge. The portions are generous and high quality. The lady I spoke to said they'd been in business about three years. We were there on a Friday night three weeks before Christmas and it was empty. I'm concerned because this is a really good place to eat in Portage. Most of the restaurants are crappy chain restaurants and we need good places like this one to stay in business. We were driving home afterwards and passed by Applebee's. The parking lot was packed. Applebee's sucks. If you're in Portage and want some good food then go to Deep Blue Seafood. It's about a third of a mile west of Swanson Road on Highway 6. There's a handful of restaurants I really like in Portage. This one is on that list. It's locally owned and I hope enough people support it that it stays in business. read more

My wife had the crab cakes and I had the ocean perch. The food was very good. Served hot and quite tasty. The perch had a very crunchy breading but the fish itself was still nice and moist. But we will not be returning. The place itself was anything but welcoming. The decor was very spartan. There was no air conditioning and by the time we finished our dinners, we were very uncomfortable. The service was less than stellar, to say the least. We had ordered an appetizer and it never came. When our dinners came out, we mentioned that we hadn't gotten our crab bites. the waiter had simply forgotten about them. As to the menu, while it would be understandable that some seafood items might not be available, but there were just too many items that were on the menu but we were told they didn't have them. It also took a LONG time to get the check. We were sitting there for at least 25 minutes after we finished eating before the waiter brought the check. I cannot recommend this place. read more

I found this gem of a restaurant when friends were recently in town and they said they'd like seafood. They're from New York and we were all blown away by the divine food and excellent service. I had a lobster roll and my friend and her husband both had a seafood boil, which included crab legs, shrimp, potatoes, corn and andouille sausage. Loved our server - she was so friendly and helpful with recommendations for each section of the menu. We will definitely be back. Starting with the good. Local place with a friendly atmosphere when you first walk in. Now the bad, the portions they give you are not what's on the menu. Ordered a pound of tiger shrimp and got maybe 1/3 lb of small shrimp. I double checked with the waitress and she said yes that it was a 1lb of tiger shrimp. Also, ordered the trio w/ an additional cluster of colossal crab. When they were brought out both were missing a leg and both were regular clusters. Definitely disappointed that the staff didn't correct the problems and will likely not return. read more
