It has now been about a month, and despite giving plenty of time for a reply, I have been ignored. I did not immediately leave reviews or make public comments because I wanted to give him the opportunity to address the situation directly. Unfortunately, that opportunity was never taken. For $480, I expected a higher standard of work and customer service. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Masaki.

This really pissed me off because in the middle of my appointment, I even heard an assistant ask in Mandarin "is she getting a haircut?" and the stylist shook his head. I was really unhappy with my hair that I went to get a hair treatment (for the dry, damaged hair) and toner at a different salon a week later. That stylist even asked "who did your hair?"

So, this Stylists' service is rightly named because Dee Dee definitely does Do's and do's she does pun intended. I usually wait until at least the 3rd visit to rate a service especially in the NH Care arena, as I've had experiences (mainly in Harlem) where the 1st service was great then by the 3rd visit great was not consistent. But after at least 10 compliments on my TS twists after leaving Dee Dee's chair & still counting. I had to hu Yelp and give her props. Having found this hidden Harlem Gem is truly an answered prayer. Not only does DD Slay at hair game she also leaves no stone unturned in proper hair care, product usage, knowledge of natural hair textures, and is a 'D' good shampooer. I called Wadiyah in complete desperation after having my hair done in what was supposed to be Crochet twist, but... well let's just say it didn't work out. Wadiyah called me back and listened to by ranting and pleas for help. I booked an appointment for 10 am on a Sunday. By 2:20 I was leaving the chair with nothing but a huge smile on my face. She did a wonderful job, she was gentle and she did her best to style me the way that I wanted. I got my knotless medium box braids done by Dee and it was such a nice process. It was so relaxing I honestly almost fell asleep. Dee is so SO gentle with your hair, which as someone with fine hair I really appreciate. I have a few areas that I asked her not to braid bc of breakage I have and she respected my ask and also found ways to fold in the hair seamlessly so that my look was still uniform and neat. No part of the process hurt and I will absolutely be going to her again. She was also really fun to chat with throughout! I 100% recommend DeeDee for your next protective style! This was my first time doing something like this and I was extremely nervous because it was also the first time allowing a complete stranger touch my hair. I struggle with thin hair and was nervous that my style will be too tight and cause damage rather than help it grow. Wadiyah went above and beyond my expectations. She communicated with me before the appointment to make sure she got the right color hair for me and size braids. (I got medium knotless box braids with ombré brown to blonde hair) I meant to tell her that I'm tender headed and not to do the braids too tight, but I completely forgot because she was so gentle. My experience with Wadiyah was everything I could have ever asked for. I found out about her through yelp/style seat and tried her out based on the great reviews. She was so patient and attentive, hard traits to find in hair braiders these days unfortunately. She is extremely knowledgeable about natural hair care and truly made me feel at ease about her ability to restore the breakage in my hair cause by tight braids I've gotten in the past. Wadiyah is great! she takes her time with you and gives wonderful suggestions about hair care. This is my second time going to her and both times i got the 2 strand twist. Shes natural and that is the #1 reason why I was interested in going to her because she uses natural products. I went to Dee Dee for Marley Twists and it was the best hair decision I have made in a while. Previously, protective hair styles were too tight and caused irritation. Lastly, I watched braiders pick hair up that's fallen to the floor and put it into their clients hair. As it stands I will never come back to this place nor will I recommend it to anyone. With Awa I was able to do an appointment and get fast and pleasant service in the comfort of her clean home (air conditioned by the way, I love this much more than going to a loud salon where the braiders are constantly distracted). Also she protected my edges and didn't pull my hair very tightly - two of my biggest peeves. Pricing was amazing and hair was included. WIN! I will definitely be coming back to Awa. She's my new go-to for all braiding.

Decided to leave my house and go to the shop around 4:10 since I didn't hear from her. Texted her when I go there and she said she was running late and would be there at 4:50. At 5:00, she still wasn't there. Texted her again and she said she was 1 minute away. She then texted again and said she was an hour away and she made typo. Unless she was coming from the Hamptons, it doesn't take 3 hours to get to the Bronx. O don't care how good other people say her skills are, her professionalism is horrible and communication is even worse. Don't know how she stays in business.

They did provide the hair including the curly pieces which I was told is human hair. It's been 2 days and while I won't say it isn't human hair, based on the tangling, I won't say it's the best quality as every time I run my fingers through my hair I get snags. I'm sure week 2 will be worse. Next time I'd bring my own and ask for a discount. I do like the size and style of the hair. The back is triangle parts. The braider did not do the front four braids right as they were supposed to be at a diagonal but instead they just look off center. But she was nice and gentle by African braiding standards. I did have to remind her a few times of when I needed to leave by because she kept checking her phone, texting, whatever else. But she finished just in time. Oh and The girl who was originally going to do my hair....she went to blow dry my already blown out hair and I had to ask her to give me the blow dryer. I am natural and she took the brush blow dryer with one hand and just started ripping it through my hair. Not gentle, didn't try and hold the base of my hair, and on the hottest setting. No thanks. The shop was very clean. Someone swept twice in the 5 hours I was there. Had to use the bathroom and it was also very clean. Wasn't too crowded with workers either. No real sitting space if you are waiting. Overall good quality for the price I paid.

I was…read morehesitant at first cause she doesn't have my hair texture and I've unfortunately encountered horrible treatment when stylists don't understand my texture. However I was pleasantly surprised how warm she was and loved my result. She did talk to me throughout the process so I can know what products she's using and how to style it. She made sure to hold a mirror up and taught me how to use the product in my hair. Unfortunately wash n gos aren't easy hairstyles on kinky hair. But I loved my result and plan to come back again. This is a great first step in learning how to properly care for your curls. I wish they did more natural hairstyles.
