But the job they did deserves recognition. Among the many people worth a shout-out: designer Chaya Uzan whose enthusiasm and ideas gave us a sense that our project was quite special; and Robbie Goldberg, our day-to-day contact and project manager, who brought a craftsman's eye to all aspects of the job. When problems were encountered, problems were fixed. An example: once we installed a new oven in the kitchen we realized that we would have to do without a favorite built-in spice cabinet. Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. Anthony, our renovation expert, was our first contact with A to Z. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. He also offered to answer any questions we might have along the way. Then there's Shevy, the permit and insurance coordinator. She dealt with the necessary paperwork and kept the inspectors at bay so we did not have to deal with those headaches. And last but not least, Mario, the site manager, who was there every day, hands-on, always professional and pleasant. On that note, the entire team seemed to like one another and treated us and each other with a refreshing degree of decency and consideration. To summarize: The team at ATOZ was thoroughly professional and kept us informed with clear, consistent communication every step of the way. Importantly, the team worked efficiently to stay on schedule and were fair when an unexpected issues arose, providing clear solutions. I was home while my husband was away at work when he came with two guys to start on the back. He asked if I had 2.5" screws. I said I didn't know if we had but I brought him our screws from my husband's tool box. He seemed annoyed at me that I didn't have the screws he needed plus he didn't bother to put back the screws the way I gave them to him. Then he couldn't figure out how to get to the local hardware store after I wrote it down for him. He made me put it in his dirty old car GPS pretending he was some helpless child and then came back and tried to make me feel guilty because his GPS led him to drive past it a few blocks and couldn't find it. When he finally came back from his trip to the hardware store with screws he asked me for paper towels, a plastic bag and cups. Unbelievably unprofessional. My husband came home from work and saw the sloppy work, he politely informed Mohammed not to do the front and that he'd just pay him for the back. Mohammed wasn't such a helpless child then because he expected to get payment in full even for the work he didn't do. Mohammed got $1,800 cash for this horrible job! My husband just wanted to be done with it. Do not make the mistake we did. We burned our money away on this. The caulking doesn't match. The capping doesn't even match. There are numerous dents. It just looks awful. I've posted photos for review. Our neighbor's property shows a proper job and ours show the horrible work of Mohammed and RS Contracting Co. We were too polite to these people and it cost us dearly. Hopefully my review can help save at least one person from this nightmarish work.
