I am SO happy with my eye lash extensions! They look fab! And I got a great deal so that certainly helps to. I came here after doing some research on extensions and figured if it was in La Jolla, I couldn't go wrong. I bought a groupon and contacted the salon to set up my appointment. I admit, the place can be hard but easy to find! By this I mean, mapquest took me through PB & some back roads with a several roundabouts only to finally see a sign for this place and once parked, found out it was the building. Good job on the sign with the arrows I parked on the street and walked in to meet Rachelle. I'm not sure if she's the only one who works here but this place was reeeeaaalllly small. Not what I had imagined. But nice nonetheless. I loved the interior and set up with crystals. The place relaxes you instantly. Rachelle was super nice & friendly. She gave me a glass of water and then got right to the point. We talked for a bit as Iaid there with my eyes closed not knowing exactly what was going on. I told her I wanted dramatic lashes, definitely "not" natural. And she offers different styles. I only wished that could have seen the styles as an example on other people or even seen the lashes themselves. I also would have liked being walked through it, rather than just laying there semi-worries with what exactly was happening, especially as my first time. But she was quick, and even after applying made sure I liked them and we're how they wanted before letting me go off to enjoy the rest of my day. The lashes were gorgeous. I purchased a groupon for a full set of custom mink eyelash set for my wedding. I called and left a voicemail to schedule an appointment and Rachelle called me the next day and scheduled me right in. Since this was my first time getting my lashes done I had many questions but she was very informative over the phone about proper prepping and even had an automated email and text sent to me with tips and an appointment reminder. The shop had a very cute and cozy setup and Rachelle was very comforting and talkative during the entire process and I felt as if I was talking to an old friend. I had pictures of a style I wanted before hand and Rachelle was able to master exactly what I wanted. Very hard to reach and confirm the appointment, even after numerous follow ups and asking to get back with simple yes or no. Why starting a business in the first place if you cannot commit??!! Although the initial job was looking great, the eyelashes start falling off after 1 week already! I have been doing eyelashes for years and they would normally hold for at least 2 weeks. With Rachelle, not only it lasted for 1 week only, it was also inconsistent: my left eye eyelashes looked much more fuller than the right one and there was nothing I could do. It looked really strange. So, no, I am not happy, I will not book again or recommend her to my friends. I found Rochelle on groupon and I've been with her ever since! I was using synthetic mink extensions before so I decided to find a place that did real mink to feel the difference and I ended up loving it! Real mink eyelashes are alot lighter on your lashes and feels a lot more natural. Although they can be pricey, I would say its worth it. The location of decorum is down in La Jolla. The shop is located in the back of a building but there is a sign by the street so its not hard to miss. There is always parking in the little lot its located in. The store is very cozy and cute with beachy rustic decorations and hanging terrarium planters hung on the ceilings. Rochelle is very sweet and easy to talk to. She also does a great job on your lashes. She is very gentle and precise when she does them. She also listens to what lengths you like and tries to customize them for your eyes specifically. She never leans on my forehead like other people have in the past and she gives you a new mascara brush everytime you come in for a fill. Those things are a little hard to keep track of. This is a first for me, as I have not had such a bad experience both in customer service and in quality. When I first saw the Groupon offer, it looked like such a great deal. This was my first time getting lash extensions and I was excited to try it out. I purchased the Groupon for the full set of synthetic lashes that have an additional 2 week fill included. Since this was my first time getting lash extensions I had quite a few questions. What do I need to do to prep for the lashes? Is there anything I should or shouldn't do before? I also didn't know the differences between the mink and the synthetic lashes. I called Decorum multiple times over multiple days to get talk to someone for answers and to schedule my appointment. I called a little before they open, during lunch time, and around when they closed. After calling over 5 times on a multitude of days, no one picked up the phone even once! This was the first red flag. For some reason I went ahead and booked my appointment on-line, even though I didn't get any answers. I booked my appointment a few weeks out because I needed to come in on a weekend. I work the typical 8-5 schedule and this place closes before I even get off work. My initial appointment was booked maybe 3 or 4 weeks out. After booking I did not get any confirmation email whatsoever confirming my appointment. The second red flag. Two days from my appointment I still didn't get any confirmation regarding my appointment so I called Decorum. Again no one answered the phone so I left a message saying I would like a return call to confirm my appointment since I have not heard anything. Rochelle (or Rachelle) called me back and left a message confirming my appointment. The day of my appointment, the place was a bit hard to find as it's in the very back of a small building. As I had no information on how to prep for my appointment, I came in with my usual eyeliner on, which happens to be a waterproof eyeliner. I immediately told her what I was wearing and she said she might have to take it off. I had no issues with that as I was heading home after and had nothing else planned. Rochelle asked what kind of lashes I wanted (length, curliness, etc). There weren't really any models to show how the lash would look after applied, so I just chose more natural lashes that are slightly obvious they're there, but in no way dramatic lashes. When the process started, I laid down. I usually try to talk to people (hair stylist, etc) during processes so I started asking her questions about how long the business was there. Her answers were pretty short so I was left with the impression she doesn't like to talk. Not a problem because I would rather have good lashes than her make a mistake. I decided to just lay there the rest of the session. As Rochelle worked on the lashes she indicated that she doesn't have to take off my eyeliner and she can work around it. At the end after applying all the lashes, Rochelle proceeds to tell me what I can and can't do. Apparently you shouldn't wear waterproof eyeliner or mascara because anything oils can interfere with the adhesive. So why didn't she remove the eyeliner before starting the process??!? And then she tells me I can not wet my lashes for 24 hours. Why wasn't I made aware of any of this before hand??! To top it all off, I went to book my two week fill. Apparently the two weeks time fell over a period she would be out of town. So she said I couldn't book my follow up for that weekend. I asked if I could book for the following weekend and she said NO because the groupon is only good for two weeks! Really?! So because she was out of town she did not make an exception. She said I could come in during my lunch break to get my lash refilled. Aside from the appointment taking 40 mins for a refill, this place is not conveniently located near my work, so coming in during my lunch break was not an option. I was very frustrated and upset with the whole customer service, or rather lack of it. The first night I obviously couldn't remove my eyeliner and had to keep it on the following day. I typically do not sleep with make up on, but had to for this. The first day or two the lashes looked pretty good. But by Day 3, the inner lashes of my right eye started falling off. Throughout the first week, my right eye had fewer lashes than my left. When I looked to see how long lash extensions last, many sites said they last about 3 weeks to a month. After about a week and a half, the lashes on my right were significantly less than my left. Bad customer service and bad quality. There were definitely no positives. I will definitely not recommend nor will I be back! read more

Rachelle completely lacked follow up customer service. I told her my eyes are sensitive. I figured the glue was more advanced without formaldehyde etc. Rachelle assured me that the instant I felt pain or swelling to come in immediately and she would remove them. My lashes were applied friday and by sunday my eyes were completely swollen and painful. I called her 3 times, sent 3 texts and went 2 her studio Mon only to discover they were closed as most salons do Mondays. Sent an additional texts to no avail. Tuesday sent her a text 9:34 asking if I could come in and have her remove my eyelashes. No response. My final attempt was Tues. 3:11 and still being ignored. I have been trying to remove them on my own which is not recommended and not an easy task! In the process I have ripped out some of my own lashes so I feel like idiot for attempting to beautify my lashes as it created a painful pricey negative effect and to top it off lack of common courtesy in regard to the customer support I was ensured. However, I guess it was only the high lights lol I read some more reviews about the troubles of making an appointment and trying to get ahold of the owner. They weren't kidding. I called twice on two different days bc I thought maybe it was just busy the first day. No response. In the voicemail it said text for a faster response and I thought okay that's fine no big deal. So I texted the number and wasn't getting a response. Went to go check to see if I got a text back but the person left me on "read" so I know they saw my message yet decided to completely ignore it. Maybe you should probably turn that off so you can at least lie and say it was a busy day or something lol Got ahold of groupon and got a refund. Found this place through their groupon offer and bought the set with an additional filler. I needed a fill and appointment was really quick and was happy at first. I've had extensions for over two years so know how long they should last. With the first week I had a lot of fall out. So I called to set my filler appointment that was included in the groupon and it was extremely difficult to get a hold of her and she wasn't timely with follow up either. After 5 days she finally called back citing she was trying to call my other number we'll never got a call from her on my cell phone and my work number blocks caller id but thought I'll go with it and set an appointment for 530pm specifically because I had to work. I work half an hour away so I made the time to leave my work early to accommodate this so as not to be late. I get there and she's not there and door is locked. I knocked twice and waited for 10-15 minutes. I called twice and finally realized she stood me up and no showed my appointment. All of a sudden I get an email the next day confirming an appointment for the following day in the morning.... Never spoke to her so I have no idea how that came about WOW! Extremely unprofessional and unacceptable follow through if you want return customers. Be respectful of people's time in the future! read more

Purchased the groupon for a full set of synthetic lashes. This was the first time I'd had eyelash extensions and Rochelle did a great job explaining what to expect and continually checking in with me during the application process to be sure that I was comfortable and that I was not having any issues with the adhesive or lashes irritating my eyes. She was relaxed and easy to talk to- a bonus, since you have to lie there for an hour with your eyes closed and it's nice to have some conversation as a distraction. When I first saw them, I have to admit, I was a little surprised at how long they were and I was worried they were a bit "too much". But, I think it's just because I am so used to looking at my skimpy lashes. I got used to them pretty quickly and, surprisingly, I got SO many compliments on them. I didn't realize how quick people are to notice your eyes and they made me look more youthful and awake. It's been three weeks and very few have actually fallen out. I did buy the makeup remover wipes and have been very careful about taking good care of them, just blotting them with wipes or plain water and not rubbing my eyes. I have been going to Decorum for almost a year. Rochelle is amazing and I have never - ever had a problem with my appointments! I get compliments on my lashes almost daily! Not only does she do an amazing job and customizes the lengths for your preference but she also will let you know if your lashes need a little help.
