I'm on the fence about how to rate this company. Communication was an issue. We had driveway work done at the same time as our next door neighbor. When scheduling the walk through for the estimate, I was very clear on the phone that I would not be home, but I'd reviewed everything with the neighbor and he was home and happy to do the walk through. I also used chalk to write out notes and arrows for the work we wanted done. They did the walk through without getting our neighbor, then when there was confusion later, initially tried to blame it on me failing to attend the walk through. We talked to two different people on the site before work began to ensure we were all on the same page about what was to be done, but somehow this wasn't communicated to the field owner or the office owner. After some stressful back and forth, where honestly both they and I were probably partly to blame for the miscommunication, they did eventually honor the quoted price to do all the work we had requested. I think this could have all been avoided however, if they would have done the following:
1. Insisted I attend the walk through prior to the quote. They did not stress to me that it was essential I be there.
2. Greet us before starting work and explain who was in charge. My husband interacted with the man he assumed was the owner, finding out later he was just an employee with no authority to confirm the work that was being done.
3. Been more available in person or on the phone. I struggled to reach the in-office owner who provided the quote and we communicated mostly by email.
The workers were polite and seemed to stay on task and work hard. I asked if I could keep some of the old broken concrete for a project I was doing. They were really helpful in offering to break it into smaller pieces I could use, and then later explaining in detail why I probably would not want to use it due to embedded wire. Nearly all debris and mess was removed, but I was bummed to see a cigarette butt on our walkway after they left.
The work looks very good. The texture is nice, and after much communication, everything we wanted was done to our specifications. Our neighbor had the edges of his driveway done with concrete that looks like red brick/stone and it looks fantastic. A few days after their driveway was done, they noticed a small crack about a foot long radiating from the corner of the house.
