This is a scam, they charge more legal fees, monthly fees, service fees and settlement fees, you would pay more than the actual amount you own fully at the end of the period. They trap you using the settlement as bait so that you can never opt out when you realize what they are doing. You can reach the same settlements by your own by talking to creditors and you will save thousands of dollars in fees. They will drag it out as long as they possibly can to steal your money. Avoid this company at all costs. I've been trying to cancel my account for the past two weeks, and all I've gotten is the runaround. They keep asking for information about my bankruptcy lawyer, which is completely personal and none of their business--especially after I've already made the decision to terminate my account. They have no authority or say over what I choose to do after ending services with them. One agent in particular, Asa, has been especially unprofessional. While other agents were easier to deal with, he continuously made unnecessary comments, insisting that my legal information is "public record" and that he could look it up himself. If he has that kind of time, that's on him--but it felt invasive and completely out of line. This company lacks follow-through, respect for client privacy, and basic customer service. I have had the best experience from the very first day with all the care that was taken, and the number of truly helpful professionals that take you through what to expect, what they do, and the ease you experience once they take over all the worrying that I had gone through with a mountain of credit card debt brought on because of a divorce. Once you fit your payment amount into your budget, which they will use to pay down debt by negotiating with your creditors one by one as you build up money that they can work within a trust account, then your days will seem bright once again while DebtEx does all the work for you. I did pay a little bit extra for the legal attorney service and I'm glad that I did because one of the credit card companies refused to settle and filed a court action against me. They did their job. As stated in another review before this, at first I was not being informed of anything. Once I made it known that I like to know what is going on things got better-ish. I still stand by my opinion that they still need more training and organization starting from the top. The 2 main people I worked with (Justine and Christine) were great. However, if you talk to someone else, they don't know what is going on. I can understand this to a point, however at some time, you have to stop relying on notes and have a set system to either look at or for the consumer to be able to see. I have resolved my debt and am debt free! They didnt charge us until they resolved the debt and it was very reasonable. 33 months later and we couldn't be happier. Average settlements were about 41%. Fees were middle of the road at 22% . Others charged 15% but it was upfront fees and the BBB file was new or bad complaints and others wanted 25 or 31%. Of course we had a hard time trusting anyone else after that, but I'm glad that we did.
