This is a no frills type of place. I had the Sunday breakfast buffet and it was good.

Typical truck midwestern truck stop fare. Can't beat it if it's what you're looking for.

Great burger at a reasonable price. Portions for sides are probably large enough to share. Friendly service.

Our feedback is keep doing what you do with breakfast. The Haystack is big enough to share, if they have homemade cinnamon rolls grab one and if stuffed get a few to go. At least, it did with us. After reading glowing reviews here on Yelp, I was anxious to try this place on the way to Jasper. They had plenty of wait staff on duty and took our order promptly and even brought us beverages in short order. The coffee was good; strong, very strong, but good and reasonable enough ($1.99 with endless refills). We walked in at about 10:20 and the place was moderately filled, but not crazy busy, and it smelled wonderful, full of breakfasty aromas; coffee, bacon, eggs, maple syrup. We were seated quickly and our waitress, though a little pokey (she went to the table of a guy who came in AFTER us before coming to us, something that doesn't sit well with me), promptly took our drink orders, then returned with said beverages and took our food order. I was dying to try "The Haystack" and my wife ordered the meal with eggs, sausage and a biscuit. Prices were fairly reasonable. Our waitress said she'd get our order in and we thanked her. 5 minutes passed. 10 minutes passed. There were two gentlemen sitting across the room from us evidently waiting for good as was the guy who came in after us. 15 minutes passed. 20 minutes passed. My wife and I were wondering how long it could take to prepare breakfast food. 30 minutes passed. The guy who came in after us got HIS food. 10 more minutes passed. The other two gentlemen received their food. Another 10 minutes. We finally inquired and our waitress told us "yours is up next..." Ten more minutes passed. A big table of six got THEIR food. Our food NEVER materialized. We were in a tight schedule and finally had to wind up leaving without ever receiving our food. It's a shame, too, because the food I saw and smelled seemed like it would've been really good. Suffice to say, I doubt we'll be back.

The pretzel bun was heated appropriately and had the right amount of flavor. The optional spicy mustard is really powerful. My only possible complaint would be that the spatzle were a bit on the soggy side, perhaps overcooked. That said, the spatzle also come with an incredible sauerbraten gravy. My only regret, really, is not having had dessert.

Atmosphere is fun, it really embraces the German decor (saw a review or too calling it kitschy, in a good way, which I think is a fair description). Service is friendly and attentive (and in the costumed German garb to keep with the themes). Lots of classic German dishes (several schnitzel varieties, brats, spatzel, etc.). I won't say anything I've had over the years blows me away, but haven't had a bad choice either. The Wiener schnitzel I had most recently was tender and tasty, with a perfectly fried batter, and the German fries were nicely crisped on the exterior and beautifully seasoned. Good beer selection (including some brewed for the restaurant), reasonable wine list...love that you can go all out and have your beer in the classic giant boot! Small gift shop as well, some souvenir items as well as some candies and food options.

As you can see in the picture, they looked, and tasted like frozen fish fillets that you can get at any local grocery store. The inside more closely resembled fish mush than actual fish. Others' food tasted fine, but some came out barely warm, as was the case with my German potatoes. While the restaurant had a small town charm and friendly staff, I can't say that I will be back. We decided to go for dinner on Sunday evening and at first we were seated inside. It was a bit stuffy inside and so we asked Ian, our waiter, if we could sit outside and keep him as our server. He said yes and we sat in their clean and comfortable outdoor seating area. Unsure of what to order, I asked Ian for a recommendation. He said their pizza was really good and we could get a 16" unlimited topping pizza with breadsticks for $31. Let me tell you, his recommendation was absolutely incredible. The pizza came out hot fresh more toppings than you could ask for and the breadsticks were just as good! This pizza for sure is one of the top five best pizzas I have had at a restaurant. If you get the chance and are in French lick for any amount of time, make sure you go to Kelley's and order the pizza! My wife and I both highly recommend!

It had been a highlight for him. And all in all, I'm so glad we listened to him. My family was able to find a good brunch. We got a table without a wait -- a bit of a surprise considering how much of a wait other resort restaurants can have. And this buffet had lots of what you would expect: bacon, eggs, pastries, cereal, yogurt, fruit, drinks and made-to-order omelets and waffles. Also, I think I saw this mentioned in another review -- get the chocolate milk! I'm not sure what was special about it, but I had had like three glasses of it. It was cold and sweet and just perfect. Our server also kept the coffee flowing -- much appreciated! Especially if you have a family who has lots of opinions over what they want to eat for breakfast, this is a great option to have.
