Imagine Waffle House but cozier and cleaner. The wait staff was super helpful and made for a great breakfast while visiting Salem. Food was delicious but is cash-only. Within walking distance of the Salem Witch Trials memorial.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect small town diner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was so cool to watch the service and their team work together. Hand written menus and incredible food. We came for a girls trip to Salem from Texas and we had the bagel sandwich, omelets, biscuits and gravy, and eggs Benedict and it was all delicious. Opened in 1932, debs diner became Black Cat Diner in June 2024 but the cook and her family own it now

Placed an order for three omelets with potatoes and bread. Ordered through a delivery app and our order was made and dropped off promptly. The omelets were huge and overly stuffed, so we all had about half of our omelets left over. My sister had the bagel and she was content with it. No complaints here. The food was good and the service was fast. Prices were reasonable.

Great diner with counter. Get the hash! Grilled muffins looked outstanding but we didn't get them - will next time! Todays options were pumpkin and blueberry.

LOCAL LOCAL PLACE CASH ONLY atm next door When you drive up you might think the place is closed however it does have a neon sign and it's most likely open. There is parking in back if not on the street. Found the place on Yelp as I needed to do some work while waiting for my other half who was having a procedure at Salem hospital. This is NOT a remodeled fancy diner but a true old fashion diner. The food was very good. I asked for a "special" order and they did it perfectly. Meat lovers Eggs Benedict all parts where very good. I needed to be rolled out I was so full. Coffee refills kept coming. I didn't have a muffin but they are cooked fresh and they will heat them on the grill. They had blueberry and banana caramel today but it sounded like that gets switched up.

The Food: Delicious! Diner food obviously, but everything was very tasty! The half-size french toast plates are filling enough, but add a plate of baked beans or bacon if you have a big appetite. Don't skip the fries (breakfast potatoes). Cash only. The Service: Fast and reliable. I can see why there are regulars that frequent this spot. You get the small town vibe where they know you by name and preferred menu item. It's great. The restaurant: Small diner, not meant for large groups, but you can split up your group to sit at multiple booths. We went to visit Salem for Halloween, and this spot was a very short walk to downtown. Highly recommend!

This place is a hidden gem. It looks like a hole in the wall but it has the best breakfast I have had in a long time. The girls behind the counter are hilarious and amazing. Do not over look this place. We were in Salem for the weekend and went to breakfast both days here. By far the best sausage and gravy I have ever had. We also got the French toast and a few other items....none of it disappointed us. So fresh and so good. Bring cash though.

Amazing service and amazing food! The staff is friendly but still has the New England attitude and it just goes so well. The girls were funny and welcoming. This is cash only so prepare for that. I come to Salem every year and always like to go outside the square to support more local business. This place will now be my first stop every year I come to Salem!

Wow! Bring your appetite when you come to Deb's because this place is some seriously good eats. Definitely a locals place, where you feel like its an institution within the Salem community. Order the blueberry muffins and have them grill them with butter. Its like a meal in itself. I had the Irish eggs benedict. When my waitress gave me a big thumbs up when she took my order I knew it was going to be good. Homemade corned beef hash, covered with two poached eggs and smothered in yellow gravy. UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE. Deb's injured me. I'm from the West Coast and can't find anything even close out here. I need to get back to Salem ASAP.

Deb's Diner is not your standard tourist spot but close enough to the center of things and far less costly than places featured in guidebooks. Are you looking for a delicious big breakfast and a truly excellent cup of coffee? Look no further. Deb's is friendly and welcoming as well as delish!

It's closed after walking a mile. What a disappointment it's in an area where there's hardly any parking so it is better that you walk if you're a tourist or get an Uber but then you find out they're closed. The lights are on but there's nobody there and there's a big closed sign.

We just went in and dropped a worthy $80 on lunch - 2 tequila mules, a special of buffalo bites (if u are lucky and these are on special again - order them!). Chicken kabob sandwich - juicy, perfectly grilled chicken and my husband got the mouth-watering pastrami sandwich. We packed half of it up for dinner tonight. I only gave 4 stars due to the lousy, noisy, raunchy bar flies. They couldn't care less about other customers as they were shouting and cussing away. Having a conversation with my husband was impossible. The bartender, who was 5 stars in her service to us, attempted to remind these people to stop yelling. I understand being a local, as I am one, and it makes me want to keep my favorite places in business. However, disruptive and rude bar flies should be shut out ff earlier and asked to leave or at the very least pipe down. Ultimately, I highly recommend anyone local or out of town to try The Tin Whistle for the food and service. Maybe try one of the tall comfy wooden booths would make for a better atmosphere.

I loved the vibe and interior of The Tavern - it was spooky and old timey. You could see and feel the history of this hotel and it was awesome to experience. The dining room had a bunch of tables, but did not feel overcrowded. The Tavern is a great place to grab a drink and relax. It would also make great for a romantic date night. It's not a true hidden speakeasy since the sister restaurant upstairs, the Dire Wolf Tavern, has signage on the street for it, but I didn't care - the drinks just looked beautiful, and the moody decor was so on trend for Salem without hitting you over the head in a touristy way. We walked down some pretty steep steps after having dinner at the DWT - not sure if there's another entrance or not, but seems a little accessibility challenged. We sat in some of the low down, trendy looking, cushy chairs, and had to order drinks at the bar. Table service would have been nicer, especially for what they're charging for a cocktail. I asked for a pretty drink I'd seen online in a coupe glass with foam and purple and yellow almost flower shapes in the foam, but was told it was from an old menu. No big deal, I figured as such since it was an older photo online. I ordered the Midsommar cocktail without egg white (was very excited to see Creme de Violette on a menu, but the flavor was more mild than I hoped). It was pretty good, and quite strong. I wasn't over the moon in love with it - I actually liked the drink options upstairs better lol - but it was quite good and made quickly. This spot would be great for a photoshoot, I'm dying to get a spot at the unique lit up circular bar they have. It started getting busier and louder later into the night, but when we first arrived it was nice and calm and relatively quiet. I'd go back to try more specialty cocktails, but for $20 including tip for 1 drink that was honestly quite small, it feels a bit like an overpriced tourist spot. Very fun to visit but not great if you want to be having multiple drinks. I'm glad we went and would try it out again for sure.
