I had my hair ,makeup and eyebrows waxed here for my brothers wedding in 2006. I can't speak for any other services but what I had done. Positive: The lady who took my reservation, I can't remember her name but she had an accent and I think she was originally from Africa, I could be wrong on that but anyway she was very very nice and really helpful on the phone. When I met her in person she was just as sweet. Negative: Hair - I have posted 2 pictures, one is my mothers hair and one is mine. The girl who did my mothers hair did a great job. My mom has really short very curly hair and I was actually surprised she was able to do what she did with it. The girl who did my hair, I requested that I did not want an updo but my hair to be half up, half down. I let her decide what to do with it. As she was doing my hair all the other stylist kept saying how great it looked and how nice my hair was, asking me what products I use. When I said Pantene, she said " I won't tell anyone" What?? Is there something wrong with me not spending 20 bucks a bottle on over priced salon brand shampoo?? Anyway, the stylist all seemed a bit fake to me with all the compliments on the style, in the end it just looked like a Bun to me that cost 60 bucks to have done! Makeup - Only I had my makeup done and for the 50.00 price tag I was very very disappointed. I am not a makeup artist but I do a much better job myself! I did everyone elses makeup in my family and I should of done mine! It only took her about 7 minutes to do it. I told her I didn't want a lot of foundation but wanted her to focus more on my eyes and lips. She put way too much foundation on me and me eyes were nothing special. My lips looked like I had lip gloss on and nothing more. Eyebrows: I get my eyebrows waxed every 3 weeks and have had them done at many different places. The girl who did mine here did it on the massage table which I found to be the wrong position for doing eyebrows. They didn't turn out horrible but they were not great and she didn't even tweeze the hair that the wax didn't remove, I had to ask her to do it after I saw them in the mirror. Overall, the people were friendly if you think fake is friendly. One of the girls did a great job on my mothers hair but the almost 150.00 I spent including tips was not worth it at all. On a funny note, I kept telling them that we( mom and I) were there for my brothers wedding and the girls kept saying congrats to me and telling me what a beautiful bride I was. Shows how self absorbed they are because if they listened to anything I said they would have known I wasn't the Bride! Also, word of advice. Going through the metal detectors at the airport with 100 bobby pins in your hair will set off the alarm! ;) It will also get you strip searched, I learned the hard way the next day on my flight out of JAX. Some of my family was at the airport at the same time as I was and we went through security together, they all got to see it and got a good laugh, some of them were in tears from laughing so hard. I've been getting my hair done by Robert for the past 7 years and he is fantastic. Every other stylist I've been to in my life hasn't lasted more than 3 or 4 appointments, but I've stuck with Robert since I moved here. As for the other services besides hair, I've always been satisfied. Dee is great for massages (even prenatal!) and Beverly does a beautiful job with nails. I took my Fiance here to get her a pedicure for valentines day and she said that she loved it. She got the lava shell pedicure. She said the staff where nice and they did a great job on her feet. Drinks where included in the price if your over 21 you can get wine. They let her choose what ever toe nail polish she waited and they had a very large selection of colors. It wasn't badly priced either. I would recommend this on my fiances behalf. read more

Very disappointing. Booked a spa pedicure for 45$( without tip) . So looking forward to a great relaxing pedicure. A lady asked me if I would like something to drink, I said yes . I would like a glass of wine. She said" I don't have wine, that's tomorrow. On to the pedicure, I asked the girl if I was sitting in a massage chair. She said "yes, they have all been broken for years". Really?... How lame....never again. Pedicure was supposed have extra massage on legs & feet. Maybe 2 mins tops. I came here with my mom and had the tropical body wrap with Teri and loved it! I've never had a wrap before and it completely exceeded my expectations! I was planning my wedding long distance from Charleston, so I was a bit nervous about making hair appointments for my bridal party! I was extremely satisfied with the service, hospitality and our hair! When we arrived, the receptionist showed us to our "quiet room", which was perfect because we had two rambunctious flower girls that couldn't stay still or quiet for a minute! From a husband's point of view: My wife and I live in Tallahassee and I was planning a weekend surprise get away in St Augustine for her birthday. Part of the surprise was to be a Day Spa and Salon treat. Due to our hectic schedule, I had to wait until early in the week prior to my wife's weekend birthday to make reservations for that coming Saturday. Debbie's staff was very accommodating in juggling their schedule in order to arrange my wife's services to fall one after another as long as we could get there by mid-morning. We left Tallahassee early Saturday morning in order to arrive on time. The facilities were very nice, comfortable and well set up. Debbie's staff was very welcoming and offered us drinks while we filled out some paper work. Then they started on my wife's Swedish massage right on time. Since her services were to run one right after another and would take about 4 hours, I was concerned that she wouldn't have any time for lunch but they set it up where she would have a small break between her massage and manicure & pedicure. When I inquired about lunch arrangements, they recommended the gourmet pizza restaurant across the street, then downloaded and printed a menu for me and then even offered to place my order. When I returned with our lunch, my wife was just finishing with her massage, very relaxed. The staff brought us to a private room where they had set a table with silverware, napkins, place mats and iced drinks! What service! After lunch, my wife enjoyed her mani/pedi then her hair salon services. She was very impressed with ALL of the services as well as her treatment by the staff. Debbie's treated my wife like a queen and they made me look like a hero. When I made the arrangements, I did not ask about costs...I wouldn't know what those services should cost anyway, so just figured it'll be what it will be. I found the total cost to be very reasonable (and actually lower than I was expecting) for the service that was rendered and SERVICE it was.. I highly recommend Debbie's Day Spa & Salon and I expect we'll be returning on our next visit to St Augustine. I got the signature facial, mostly because I wanted a thorough assessment of my skin and its unique needs. After about a half hour of the aestetician telling me nothing about my skin, I asked. Her entire assessment was, "You could stand to exfoliate more." That was it. I asked about some very popular products and she hadn't even heard of them. For the cost of the facial, I won't return. She did a fine job, but I've had much better. read more

I would not try any service here again. Over 10 yrs ago had a hair cut and color that ruined my hair for months on end...the strands of my hair were stripping off every time I brushed. The stylist at the time did look at it but took no responsibility and there was certainly nothing she could do to fix it anyway. Well, I finally got over that trauma and recently, went in for a manicure. The worst I've ever had. The manicurist had a sign "ask me about my cats". She filed the top of my nail down so far I pulled away in pain, told her it hurt, she ignored. My gut said leave the chair, but of course, not only did I stay, I said thank you and tipped her...ugh. Once home, I realized you could see the deeper color of my nail bed through that nail as well as a few others (but not as bad as the first). She smelled like cigarettes and was unpleasant as well as inept at providing a manicure. You are much better off going one of the many "just nails" type places as you are not getting any type of better experience at Debbie's and definitely not better service. read more

I was very disappointed. While having a mani/pedi done the nail tech carried on a conversation with another employee the entire time. At one point, she stopped working on my hand all together and turned to fellow employee so that they could go through the bag of used clothes the other woman had just brought in! It wasnt't until I said that she clearly had more urgent things to attend to so if she'd just finish my hand I'd be on my way that she put the clothes down and continued with her job. She didn't speak to me for the rest of the session, not even to apologize. This mani/pedi was a birthday gift and I can honestly say it was probably the worst customer service I've ever had. I am new to the area and made an appointment with Kathy, she is wonderful, took the time to determine my color and did the best cut I have ever had, she finger blew dry my hair and it was the first time in my life that I did not have to go home and restyle my hair because I did not like it. This will become my studio and I will definitely use Kathy as my stylist. Cannot rate it high enough. Everyone was pleasant and it was a great experience. Debbies Day Spa and Salon seemed like a very high end place to get everything I needed done for my wedding day. We started with a massage. I and my Maid of Honor got Swedish Massages and both agree they were the absolute best massages we have ever had in our lives. Well done! Next was makeup. My problem with the make up was that they not only did not use spray brushes, but actually used cheap powders. My make up at home was actually better than what they put on me and wouldve lasted longer than my "professional" makeup lasted in that 100 degree weather on the beach. I strongly recommend not getting your makeup done here. After makeup was hair. My wedding hairstyle was extremely simple and I of course had a photo to make things even easier. The time it shouldve taken to do this hairstyle max was 15 minutes. It was a french braid starting from the left going down to the right and stopping at the base of my head. The remaining hair was elegant blooms and I had brought pearl inserts to be added to the look. After about 45 minutes of almost getting it right, my maid of honor stepped in and things got a little heated. She said she would just do it. The woman said her mind was elsewhere because her brother was getting married that same day and she was here...I dont know if it was a knock at the fact that if I hadnt requested to get my hair done that day that she would be at her brothers wedding but it sure felt like it. While basically holding my maid of honor back in the most discreet way possible, I showed the woman the photo and explained to do the best she can because I have more that needs done. My hair finally got finished and it was just okay; wasnt a professional look, but I had a wedding to get to which was more important. I highly recommend not getting your hair done here. Next was nails. My step mother got her nails painted and they actually looked kind of sloppy. There was some paint that got on her skin and that is how they sent her off as if finished. I got a full manicure pedicure massage package. I wanted a bridal look which I had sent by email when booking the package. I wanted small pearls on the ring fingernail and calligraphy "Bride" on one big toe with "To Be" on the other OR "Just" "Married" I was going to decide once there. She couldnt get the pearls to stick and had to keep repainting my nails. She eventually just said she was using sparkles instead of pearls which I hesitantly agreed on due to time..some were on the sparkle side and a couple were on the silver side which is the base. (I didnt notice until we were in the car.) She was unable to do the calligraphy so just painted the toe nails with pearl polish and added some sparkles to those. All in all, my nails turned out poorly and the opposite of what I had requested. I highly recommend not getting your nails done here. We were told that they would serve us and our guests drinks and headscarves as a courtesy for the wedding package since we were going to be there for so long. They brought me a water and no snacks or anything were served the entire time. I was there from Open to Close. I was supposed to be there from Open to 4pm. The place was only 5 minutes from where I was getting married so I thought it was perfect. During our booking, I had mentioned I would need to leave as soon as possible so that I could find a place to get my wedding dress on and jewelry etc. They told me they will actually have a private room especially for our wedding party to get dressed as soon as hair makeup massage and nails were done. Because of the many mistakes during hair and nails, this dragged my small amount of time to get ready to almost none. We ran in the back room where there was hardly any space at all..maybe a 6x6 but with a love seat and table. We got everything on as fast as we possibly could. The manager kept coming into the room telling us to hurry up because they were closed and didnt expect me to take so long...WOW. I just paid $1000 for poor service and because of THEIR inability to do their jobs which in turn cost me time to get into my wedding dress, now you're telling ME that I'm taking too long?! My maid of honor of course stepped in yet again. The woman started grabbing all of my things and throwing them into my suitcase and told me they have to close up and that I look great; wouldnt want ya late for your own wedding etc. She rushed us out the back door where as soon as you step out, there is a parking curb which she didnt say was there..so being that I'm wearing a white poofy dress, I didnt see it and immediately tripped and scraped the top of my foot. All I can say is that I paid you all a lot of money and you quite literally kicked me out of your building because you closed at 5pm and we were still there at 5:25pm still. I will never be back to your establishment. I highly recommend NEVER spending/wasting your time or money here. read more

They completely jibbed me during a manicure. The lady treating me failed to properly treat my cuticles (didn't bother soaking it in warm water) and ended up cutting my skin, multiple times. Then she just casually painted over the cut with the nail polish, not super sanitary. This was the first time I got a manicure so I wasn't aware of what the normal procedure is. I've had several facials at Debbie's in the past but had not been back in months. I went yesterday because I had a friend visiting from out of town, she never had a facial and wanted to go with me. It seems their new policy is to have their employees aggressively try to push you into buying/spending more. Once in her treatment room, my friend's beautician first tried to talk her into upgrading to another facial (a $40 difference, no thank you) - then tried to get her to sign up for a series of facial (no thanks, I live out of town) and finally into waxing/tinting her eyebrows: my friends said yes to that so that she would be left alone. I was SO embarrassed when she told me about it: her first experience at the Spa! My beautician was not quite that pushy but very unfriendly, very abrupt and not exactly gentle in her gestures - She did also offer several things that I declined, even coming back out of her room when I was done to point out to me that the (very expensive) candles were buy-one-get-one-free: great deal!! read more
