Got a half hour massage and facial from Maggie. But I didn't know her name until I was finished…read moreand came out to pay and asked the receptionist, cuz Maggie only said about 4 words to me during the hour. She never asked about pressure. She never asked what I wanted. It was bizarre. The massage felt very "phoned in" and not at all specific to my muscles or needs. A large part of it was just general "rubbing" through the sheet. When she finally got the oil out, even when I could feel her hit a ropey muscle (and she could obviously feel it too) she just skipped it and kept the general rubbing. The scrub and facial were better, but oddly she left the room twice without telling me. I thought I heard the door, which was strange, and finally after about a minute I looked up to find myself alone in the room. Never had that before in a massage or other service. When a person came back and started up again I had no idea if it was her or someone else. And she asked NOTHING about my skin - dry, oily, sensitivities... She didn't know I had contacts in (I wondered if I should tell her, but it was so oddly quiet...). She did know my age (wouldn't she need to know that to know what types of things to use??). But now that I think back on it I realize: they use the same products on everyone I bet. One scrub. One oil. One cream. One lotion. One lip treatment... Nothing at all personalized. My partner got an hour massage and sadly, felt the same. His therapist also never introduced herself. In fact, she never said a word. For both of us, it was clear the therapists had not read our intake forms. The whole place is very "factory-like". While I waiting for my partner to finish, the receptionist assigned a therapist to a massage by saying, "Room one - new client". No name. No details. No info. Not a great experience. Not worth the price. My partner just came up with a great description of the experience - it is like a CAR WASH where you roll up, put your car on the tracks, and roll through. Every car treated the same, rinsed and scrubbed. The car wash of massages.

I felt better immediately after and could actually move my shoulders again, which was amazing. I upgraded to the Chinese massage oil, which is tingly, but felt excellent when getting the knots worked out. The soothing music and water sounds were enjoyable during the massage. But it's rather easy to get to if you're coming from a little ways away. Like any Arlington spot, you can find street parking, a garage around the corner, or metro. The location is aromatic and clean. The receptionist is friendly and inviting. The massage therapist, Sunny, was amazing!! She asked how much pressure I wanted and checked if it was okay etc. I will definitely be going back.

The 5 stars was so I wouldn't screw up her score, not for Capitol Rehab.

Also, place seemed pretty clean and sanitary. For context, I like a really deep tissue massage. The average person might find what I enjoy to be uncomfortable. Elbows and all of that! Felt awesome. I was so relaxed. I will definitely be coming back to him. I didn't completely undress, although I'm sure you could. I really only do that at high end spas. I was in shorts and a cami and It was comfortable. He asked about the pressure. I told him hard and he obliged. Kept consistent pressure the whole massage. Heads up: they do request a $20 tip ahead of the massage. While I recognize this is untraditional, I totally get It, given how COVID must have affected business. I hope people start cutting small businesses some slack! Anyway, if you are looking for an insanely deep tissue massage without the frills, definitely come here!

I requested a deep tissue massage, and she did not disappoint. She worked through multiple knots in my upper back that had likely been there for months and also addressed some lower back pain I'd been experiencing. At times, the pressure was a bit intense, but when I asked her to ease up, she adjusted immediately. After the session, I was offered a small bottle of water at the front desk.
