Dr Girifalco was so nice and so gentle with Sookie, the vet tech was nice too and I was so grateful they chose to squeeze us in, they were book up too. I will be switching the care of my 4 cats here now. I loved my old vets at Bay State but it's too long of a drive now. I have a good feeling about this new doctor and they didn't over charge me.

Kiki hated veterinary clinics, and near the end of her life she had been to several. We wanted her final moments to be peaceful, at home, free from the stress of her carrier or the sterile environment of an animal hospital. Dr. Hayes responded to my inquiry immediately: a phone call, a voicemail, a text, and an email with thoughtful resources and her availability. When we finally spoke about Kiki's condition, she was calm, compassionate, and professional. She walked us through every option and was transparent about pricing from the start. What also set Dr. Hayes apart was her availability over the weekend, something that is genuinely difficult to accommodate and not something every provider offers. Her flexibility during what is already an impossibly hard time is noteworthy and deeply appreciated. The day itself was one of the hardest our family has faced, but Dr. Hayes brought a quiet, somber grace to it that was genuinely comforting. She was extremely patient with us, never once making us feel rushed, and gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes to Kiki, something that meant more than words can express. As someone who works in medicine myself, I was especially moved by the care and respect she showed Kiki's body after she passed, it did not go unnoticed. He arranged for us to bring her remains to Nevins Farm's shelter on Sunday. When we attempted to do so, we had a very distressful situation with a member of the shelter's staff and, therefore, did not leave Scully's remains at the shelter, (see my review of Nevins Farm's animal shelter for more information). Dave personally went to the shelter Monday morning to address the issue. Meanwhile, we went to the shelter and met with Glen Gaccione, who was also very respectful and understanding of what we've been through. Due to what happened the day before - although it wasn't any fault of theirs - Hillside Acre gave us a refund for the cost of the burial. Hillside Acre staff also demonstrated sympathy and compassion three and a half years ago when my cat Mulder passed, as well as several years ago with my parents' cat Lego. Hillside Acre cemetery is large and well maintained. Glen was outside attending to the grounds when we arrived yesterday. The area has a fence. Anyone with a burial plot as a key to the grounds to visit grave sites, which are protected from the general public. They have an office area for business that's apart from a functioning kitchen and a viewing area with comfortable seating. You can now buy grave stones through Hillside Acre. They also offer grief support and memorial tributes. Burials are free for dogs who have served this country in the military.

Aero's Emergency Visit - April 29, 2025 (Saugus Location)…read more We rushed our dog Aero to VUCC after he was attacked and bleeding from the head. From the moment we arrived (approx. 3-4 PM), we were met with cold, transactional behavior. The front desk staff had no urgency, no sympathy (just asked about payment). Inside, there was minimal communication, no reassurance, and the stitches they placed were poorly done. We picked Aero up around 6-7 PM, and when I asked if we needed to check out, the receptionist laughed and said "yeah, your money." Not only was this unprofessional, it was cruel, we were traumatized and in shock. Two weeks later, we saw a plaque in their lobby demanding "respect" from clients. The irony was unreal. I do not recommend this location if you need true emergency care or compassion. We left shaken, disrespected, and deeply disappointed.

Luis and…read moreMary are awesome people, kind, caring, compassionate and know all things doggie legs, etc. My little Yorkie Beanie, my first dog and the love of my life, has luxating patella in both legs and my vet referred her for water therapy to help strengthen her little legs. My pet insurance will only reimburse for this kind of therapy if a vet does the treatment, which is totally ridiculous. There was another water therapy place that I could have chosen where it was under a vet, but I chose Good Dog (and pay out of pocket) because of the proximity to where I live, but mostly because of my initial conversation with Mary. She is SO calm and just, wonderful. Beanie has been swimming for over a year and she also gets cold laser treatments on her knees and does targeted physical therapy exercises. Her legs are so much stronger when she has her regular therapy at Good Dog and I am confident that she will continue to do really well. Beanie recently had an incident where her knee popped out, had to take her to the vet to get it back in and was told that surgery would be the best option. Beanie is 9, a totalyl crazy Yorkie and luxating patella surgery is NOT an option for this dog. Of course, I called Mary freaking out and Luis called me back and immediately calmed me down and said bring her to her apt. and he would figure out the best course of action for her, which he did and she is almost back to where she was before her incident with her leg. Since Covid, I can't go in with Beanie, but Mary takes pictures and videos of her and sends them to me, which of course, I send to all my friends and family, whether they want to see them or not! Beanie actually does better without me around. LOL. I do miss being able to chat with Luis and Mary while Beanie does her "thing" and I am hoping that 2021 will bring a resumption to normalcy at some point!! Anyone thinking of water therapy for their dog, do not hesitate to go to Good Dog Aquatics!!!

So of course I made an appointment with her when my new cat, Zoey, arrived. I learned so much from Dr Lipton about how to feed and care for a kitty -- and I thought I already knew!!! -- she treats the whole animal, not just the medical problem, and Zoey is a happier, more relaxed, and healthier cat for it!! Needless to say, well worth the money!! A good vet, a good person!!
