Visited November 9th..see my receipt…read more First of all the warm and gracious owners allowed me in even though they were setting up for an event! It has a romantic vibe for wedding or special event! This winery is located off Ward Road in Oroville. It's close to town yet you feel you are in the Country! I think they have about 26 acres with a pond and make some delicious wines...including cabs...pinots..and sangiovose. They have a tasting room that is welcoming along with a larger area for events. They also sell some swag. I bought the Cabernet Sauvignon and the owner was so kind he gave me some delicious mandarins they grow on the property ! So juicy! I love the bridge and the cozy feel to the place. Family run! Although they don't have food or a wine club at this moment it is a great place to have a picnic with some exceptional places to enjoy the scenery! It was a Great experience with good wines and family atmosphere ( love the cute dogs!). Husband and wife owners and their family are kind and welcoming! Don't miss out on this place ( check their hours first). Bring a picnic basket and buy some of their wines and relax!

I enjoyed the wine so much I joined the club. The estate is beautiful with a cute tasting room and…read morelovely pond and waking path. It is also dog-friendly. I have to say the 1-star review here is uncalled for. My tasting fee was waived with a purchase of one bottle of wine. Though I would have been happy to pay it. It is only $5, and this a small, local business. The tasting included at least 7 wines. Toby, one of the owners, poured for us. He was very welcoming and knowledgable about the area. I loved the small, local feel. They also sold local almonds, eggs and beef.

Bella Rosa Farms is a beautiful, rustic, woodsy setting, ideal for a wedding venue. We celebrated…read moreour daughter's afternoon wedding here in early October, and it was a perfect day! The owner, Michelle, and her property manager, Tasha, are so nice to work with and have put a lot of time and effort into making Bella Rosa an ideal wedding spot. The ceremonies are held in a lovely wooded area next to a creek with wooden pews and arbor. The reception area is directly adjacent to the "outdoor chapel." The venue provides a large table that can be used as the head table for the wedding party, or in our case, for the buffet dinner and drinks served to our guests. Our bride and groom sat at a sweetheart table under a canopy of trees clustered with hanging lanterns - so pretty. There are wooden hutches scattered about that may be used as drink stations, desserts, favors, etc., and Bella Rosa provides a long list of antique furniture, and decor that may be used at no extra charge. There are two bars, a dance floor, two air-conditioned cottages for each the bride's and groom's parties, a separate building with two restrooms, comfortable seating areas scattered around the property for guests to relax in small groups, bocce ball and ample space for other outdoor lawn games and activities. The accent of a huge lighted "LOVE" sign added a special touch to the event. The natural beauty of the setting, along with the many rose plants on the property provide a spectacular backdrop for wedding pictures. In the afternoon, the sun dappled through the trees and created the most beautiful light. As the sun started to set, the numerous sets of string lights and lanterns that adorned the property were turned on, creating the most magical effect. Many of our 150 guests commented again and again on the beauty of the venue, and the bride, groom, and our families couldn't have been happier with this choice.

Chico is lucky to have such a place as this, in addition to the very historic (and much larger) Bidwell Mansion. Unlike Bidwell, this is not a particularly important historic place in of itself, but simply a very nice, sizeable house of a local physician. There are many such houses in many towns and cities throughout California, but this is unusual because it has been preserved in basically original condition with only some small alterations which the family made made over the years, and because it is no longer a private home but open to the public. It was built by a physician and his wife who were not especially wealthy, but who were prominent locals at the time and who had inherited some money which they used to build a very nice house. One gets to see how they lived, and both how they were able to build a very nice house with modern amenities for the time, as well as how they were able to cut costs while still making the house look lavish. It includes the original stove, plus a newer stove added much later, the original wallpaper, furniture, lovely home-made blanket, and more. They also found pieces of some of the old wallpaper from the building which were left over and still in original condition, showing how the paper on the walls has changed colour over time due to fading and smoke. The house even includes a book with information on the items in the house which Mrs. Stansbury kept. It is a wonderful opportunity for people to see how people lived in such houses in the past, has many original items, furniture, and other family belongings. It includes Dr. Stansbury's medical office and medical equipment, also interesting. One can visit it on the weekends with a guided tour. The docent we had showed us every part of the house and we were the only ones there at the time. She provided a lot of information about the house and the history of the family. We spent about an hour there. It is definitely a local treasure and well worth a look.
