I cannot tell you for certain what it is like to have Geoff Clark representing you as a realtor, but I can tell you what hell it is to have to deal with him as the buyer's realtor if you are the seller of the home. One second he is slimily ingratiating and the next, if you dare question anything the buyers demand or his way of doing things...he will treat you like you are beneath the gunk stuck under his shoe. As the seller of a house occupied by tenants, I had to tread carefully in making sure I did everything necessary to expose my home all the while respecting my tenants privacy and right to live with as little disruption as possible. No matter how hard I tried in this balancing act (paying my tenants for any scheduled inspection) no one was happy, least of all me for the incredible stress each party's intransengences caused. It is one reason we have realtors. They are supposed to be the level headed experienced professionals who can help navigate civilians through this otherwise touchy emotional war zone.
HA! I believe Geoff Clark added fuel to the fire. He brought in the biggest crooks known to the home inspection world which set the tone for what was to be a month of negotiation hell. LaRocca Chimney Check right off the bat said i needed my chimneys torn down and rebuilt at the tune of about $12,000! I knew that was bull and asked for another inspection. That inspector refutiated the first inspection but the buyers thought i was just trying to get out of handing them $12 grand for a new chimney. We got a third inspection that also did not agree with needing a new chimney and at the end of the day we all agreed on an amount. Through this, I had to deal with my tenants...I did my best to consolidate inspections and there was only one appointment that needed to be rescheduled.
Escrow was scheduled to close on Friday...but on Tuesday afternoon my very beloved dog Lazarus died. He was my family, my friend, my angel. Losing him was and will continue to be devastating. I lost the whole day of Tuesday saying goodbye, and i dont even remember Wednesday. I still had to have a tenant walk through, a buyers walk through, and remove a couple truck loads of plants, pots, outdoor furniture and garage items by Friday. I asked my realtor to ask the buyers if I could have another day or two to complete this. They weren't moving in right away so I hoped it would be ok. Whether Geoff asked the buyers, he said no. I begged my own realtor to reason with him but my realtor refused to call him to ask because during the whole selling process even for the most routine questions Geoff had been rude and condiscending to him. It's not like the sell of my house had been unusual or special...but somehow, or because of "someone" it had become contentious. So, I had to work my ass off doing the walk throughs, getting a truck, movers, and working in 110 degree heat for two days. I called Geoff in the afternoon of Friday, after the loan funded and told him I was still loading and cleaning. I would been done in the evening. He said no problem. I told him where I was leaving the keys. I washed to floors and left with my last load but had to leave a few pots and a couple other items in the driveway, but out of the way. I texted him apologizing for any inconvenience but that the truck was full. I came back the next day with the empty truck, rang the doorbell although it was obvious no one was there, picked up the few things I'd left, left the buyers a gift and said my final teary goodbye to my beautiful house I'd lived in for 10 years.
It had been a hard week of painful goodbyes. But the final dagger was getting an email from Geoff Clark telling me that I had trespassed on to the property when i picked up my things and that I was forbidden to ever go to the property or that the buyers would take police and legal action. I almost threw up. What in all that is holy did i do to deserve that?? I was so hurt by this that it took a few days for me to address it. I called Geoff to talk about his email to me and I barely got anything out before he cut me off yelling that i had been a complete nightmare and that I constantly had changed appointments and that I should have been out of the house the minute the loan funded and that frankly he didn't have to listen to me, and hung up on me. Whaaaat? He'd only dealt with my realtor and my realtor rescheduled one appointment to accommodate the tenants. I did have to change the time of the walk through due to the unscheduled death of my dog (shit happens!). Nothing that would deserve such a threat. Not the first time I've sold a house...and always with friendly civil outcomes. What really erks me is that that rude, snobby, self servicing POS got payed by ME! He makes money off my blood sweat and tears (i gave it all to hold on to my house) and he treats me like dirt. I still cant believe it. read more
