I absolutely love Dearmore BBQ! We hired them to cater my parents' 60th wedding anniversary at the beach. Miguel and his wife were the best! There was a little mixup about the delivery so they had to return to Ventura from SB and back again. Not only were they back in time, they were early! The food was delicious and had all my guests raving. This is a pretty big compliment considering many of them had experience in food service and high end restaurants. We hired Dearmore's for our daughter's birthday and memorial weekend bbq! Miquel and his wife were delightful, respectful, on time, fun to work with and absolutely fabulous chefs. We had chicken, tri-tip, beans, garlic bread and salad. It was spectacular. They cooked on-sight at my home and set up the food station. Served everyone from chaffing dishes and also carved the meat specifically for me! They cleaned up beautifully and left no trace. The food was delicious and I'm very knowledgeable about food. It was beautifully seasoned. Miquel made me a special salsa and had BBQ sauce as well. The pricing was more than fair for such wonderful food and service! I've had Dearmore BBQ cater a couple of family events, I'm always amazed by the quality and the effort they put into their food, food is always fresh and specially the steak, always cooked to perfection. Miguel will go out of his way to make sure everyone of your guest gets a piece of meat cooked the way they like it, I prefer my steak cooked Medium Rare, a lot of my family members like it cooked all the way, I don't know how He does it but everyone gets a piece of meat the way they like it, I don't understand how he does it! Dearmore is very different from other bbq restaurants I've order from in the past, most catering company's will send trays of meat already cooked, he cooks everything in front of you, your neighborhood will smell amazing once he starts cooking, the only problem is that now you have to invite your neighbors because trust me they will know you're having a party!! We always ask him to bring Ribs, chicken and NY steak or Tri-tip! Salad is very fresh and tasty, he makes some of the best garlic bread I've ever had. Chilli beans are amazing as well, we always ask him to bring hot dogs for the kids and once you put some chilli beans on top all the adults are taking over the hot dogs!! Overall Dearmore is great, very reasonable prices (for the quality of meat you get, only U.S.D.A Prime) I love the fact that Miguel and his family run the show, they are very nice! read more

We could not be any happier with Miguel and his team! We highly recommend for weddings and any event. When we first talked to Dearmore BBQ, it sounded too good to be true. It turns out, they deliver on their promises and then some! Rob at the office is great to talk to and Miguel has an amazing spirit to interact and have fun with our sometimes rowdy guests! He made our wedding day a delicious success with compliments from guests and devoured leftovers. Miguel was accommodating to our changes, too. We and the guests were hungry and so he offered to open the buffet line earlier. It didn't change the food quality at all and everyone was very happy. We had never tried it, but it was highly recommended; Lindsey who was great, invited my (now) husband to one of their BBQ's and he loved it. So we went ahead and booked them, best decision ever! They were so easy to work with, and they even set up the rental of China, silverware and glassware for you. They provide servers, and they're just so willing to work with you on your special day! All my guests loved the food! The price was also just right, I spent about 6 months looking for the perfect caterer, and I couldn't have asked for anything better! We found Dearnore BBQ looking for a caterer for our wedding and talked to Rob who was so amazing! We were invited to a tasting which they hold monthly, and because we were considering them for our wedding the tasting was free. Never expected that and what a refreshing surprise considering tastings can be costly. The staff was friendly, they had a large bbq setup to accommodate for a large party, and the food was amazing. The tri-tip was cut to order, the chicken was moist and flavorful, and it was a great experience. Without hesitation we booked them. I also coincidently had a company event that I was on the committee for, and so I booked them for that event as well - about 80 people. The pictures enclosed are mostly from that event. But our wedding was 170 people, 25 of them were children. The menu was flexible for both kids and adults (they even had a veggie kebab option for non-meat eaters). We opted for grilled veggies instead of the salad and incredible potatoes au gratin instead of the chili beans (which are so tasty by the way). The kids had hamburgers, hot dogs and Mac n cheese. Our guests have since raves about how good the food was. So, thank you Dearmore, for everything! One thing people remember about weddings is the food, the drinks, and the company. And you hit a 10 on all scales! We are so pleased and it was so affordable for the number of guests we had. We WILL be using your services again!! read more

Something we forgot to consider when we started planning our "destination" wedding in Ojai, CA without a wedding planner was that we would be on our own identifying vendors in a city we weren't familiar with. Our first instinct was to take all our favorite vendors from Los Angeles up to Ojai, but after many of them (understandably) declined to take the two hour drive, we took to Google to find local caterers. We soon discovered that many of the wedding caterers we found were waaaaay out of our price point, especially for what we wanted. We weren't looking for pretty food that tasted like cardboard, we wanted delicious, home-y food and plenty of it for a price that wouldn't make us reconsider doing the cooking ourselves. That's when we came across Dearmore. From the first email, Lindsay was friendly and professional. She answered all questions quickly (sometimes replying within minutes of me sending out an email!), and after some back and forth, we felt comfortable enough to schedule a food tasting. Lindsay invited us for a free taste testing at one of their TGIFriday events and I have to admit, we were pretty nervous about it. It was out in a ranch in the middle of nowhere in Santa Paula. We had absolutely no cell phone reception and had to rely on written instructions that led us through a combination of barren lands, citrus groves, and a few old buildings straight out of a Texas horror film. At one point after we lost reception I instructed hubby to turn the car around, but since we had a few other cars behind us and weren't completely alone we figured it was safe enough to continue our travel. We finally arrived to a makeshift parking lot and walked over to where this "party" seem to be. We were in the middle of large group of strangers who all seemed to know each other well. Hubby and I were tempted to jump back in the car and drive right on out of there. But we had each taken the day off work to make the 2 hour drive up there, so we sucked it up and made our way through the crowd. We followed our noses to the bbq station and were greeted by one of Dearmore's staff who quickly connected us with Lindsay and Miguel, the head chef. As soon as Miguel shook our hands we felt like family! In fact, from then on, hubby started referring to him indirectly as his "Tio" (uncle) Miguel. Not too many people get that privilege, but Miguel earned it in minutes. THAT'S how welcomed they make you feel! Miguel's friendly personality is infectious-- It's as if you've known him for years. Lindsay and her adorable son joined us as we went over catering details. The food was absolutely amazing! And we were both surprised at how at home we felt in this ranch up in the hills somewhere in California. Lindsay explained that Dearmore BBQ began as a "friends only" catering: for the last 35 years, this same group group of friends in attendance have taken turns hosting this "TGIF" event where they all get together to socialize and enjoy Dearmore's amazing BBQ. We realized that this was no oridinary "open house" taste testing, we had been invited to be a part of Dearmore's history. Mr. Dearmore passed away in 2008, but Miguel has taken over the company and his legacy has lived on through the group's events. We finally took in our surroundings; the ranch was beautiful and surrounded by soft rolling hills. The people were laughing and clearly having a wonderful time. This was, in a sense, the birthplace of Dearmore BBQ, and Dearmore was a reflection of the genuinely joyous, humble people that surrounded them. We confirmed our booking with Lindsay as soon as we got home and signed the contract (which we changed at least 6 times before the wedding, and Lindsay was so sweet about it!). They day of our wedding they arrived ready to cook. They haul in everything they need, including their signature BBQ pits and water source, so they really can set up anywhere. I should also mention that they've received PERFECT ratings from the Department of Public Health (try finding that with another on-site BBQ caterer!). Within minutes our ranch venue was overcome with the tasty aroma of grilled meats. During our buffet dinner, Miguel himself sliced and served the tri-tip. As he's carving it, he slices off the top layer of fat from the tri-tip, so all you get is the tender meat. It was so well-seasoned that my Texan father insisted it was smoked brisket (sure, dad). The chicken was juicy and flavorful which I feel is sometimes hard to do, but they got it right. And the quantity! So much food! Miguel carves the meat in front of you until you say when. We had 50 people and that's exactly how much food we ordered, but everyone piled it on, went up for 2nds and 3rds, and we STILL had so much food left over! Thank you Dearmore, you really helped set the tone for our wedding. Everyone always says that the only thing they remember from a wedding is the food, and a month later we're still get compliments on how delicious everything was! read more

We are so grateful to have discovered Dearmore!!! They catered our wedding, and it was one of the best barbeque we've eaten. We got nothing but compliments on the food! The tri tip was perfect, the chicken was soo tender and delicious, and the au gratin potatoes were yummmmers! The guests were served very quickly as the line moved fast. They were professional and so friendly to the guests. When we originally sampled the menu, we were surprised to receive such personalized and individualized customer service. (Don't expect to be treated like a number!) They were very hospitable and personable, which made the whole experience so much more fun and pleasant. The office took care of logistics and Miguel knocked it out of the park. He did a party for 50 people -- which is a small gathering for him. He and his wife arrived early, set up their massive BBQ and went to town. The tri tip and chicken were awesome along with all the fixings. They are super nice, very personable, and turn-key. The only thing bad thing was that we had to spend over an hour smelling the food cooking before we could actually try it! Very reasonably priced for high quality BBQ. I had the best filet mignon last night at a banquet which served 190 people. The food was great, served hot, which is a feat in and of itself for a large banquet. Dearmore's has a diverse menu and can do a regular BBQ to fine filets. And they serve the best fruit pies for dessert! read more

If you're looking for authentic Tri Tip BBQ for your wedding or party, don't bother looking elsewhere. Dearmore is the real deal, and Rob and Miguel are just the absolute nicest people to work with. They were super communicative via email and on the phone, often responding just minutes after I emailed, and were great about answering questions and handling our requests leading up to the event. Their quotes were very reasonable and they worked with us on the menu to get everything just right, offering us lots of different options to choose from. They showed up promptly onsite, started up the grill, and made an absolutely epic feast, with melt-in-your-mouth tri tip and delicious BBQ chicken, as well as a bunch of traditional sides, including some amazing guacamole that left everybody debating over what the magic ingredients must be. Their service at the event was fantastic, with Miguel even setting up a meat carving station so everybody could get their well-seasoned tri-tip as done - or rare - as they liked. Dearmore treated us like family, and now we're trying to find an excuse to throw another party just so we can have some more of that amazing BBQ!
