We learned of their Sunday Brunches from their banner outside on their building -so we had company visiting in from New York and we decided to check them out. We were very happy with the brand-new renovations as well as the open space inside the Deanston House. The buffet was set up on one end of the room and there were plenty of tables to choose from for our party. For only $9.99 per adult & $4.99 child, we had our choice of coffee, ice water, a variety of bagels,make your own waffles. And assortment of amazing fresh fruit, eggs crispy bacon meatballs , potatoes, chicken and and rice with mushrooms and a amazing French toast apple crisp. Our waitress was very accommodating and again the food was hot and tasty. So if you find yourself waiting in line on a Sunday morning next-door when I come around the back and enjoy a amazing quick Sunday brunch with soothing music as well to set your mood for the rest of the day. I agree with Angela. Place was totally unprepared and overwhelmed. Patrons had to move chairs and tables because there was not enough seating and they served soup in straight out of the box glasses that hadn't been washed. Book with extreme caution. read more

On sundays, they have all you can eat brunch for 10 dollars per person. The food is very delicious. Also, they have variety of food to choose from. Although they dont have juice, they do have coffee. If you are feeling famished on sunday morning die to some saturday night fin, definately check them out. read more

First time at Deanston House today and was very impressed with the delicious brunch and great staff. The place looks brand new, it's super clean and family friendly. Went to a benefit there - large group that filled the place - and cannot provide one positive thing to say. I understand that a large banquet is tough to coordinate, but isn't that what they do?! Main meal started almost 2 hrs late, courses were not coordinated, meal was awful (I had the fish - it was completely dried out as well as were the vegetables on the plate - like it had been setting in a warming oven for hours). Even the bar service was terrible and when I asked about the price of a drink, TWO of the people serving drinks said "I have no idea". Yikes! They were severely understaffed and the staff acted as though they had never worked together before nor were given any guidance. Stay away! read more

The venue is beautiful, the chairs were comfortable, the bar tender Amy was amazing and the "pit crew" guy Jacek was an older gentleman that really impressed us. Now for the downside. This place is unorganized beyond belief. No accountability at all. We told the "wedding coordinator" that we would be getting ready in the back space. She continued to say we didn't speak of that, however we have text messages stating we did! She promised it would be cleaned out, we would be sipping mimosas, and not have to lift a finger. Fast forward to the day, all of that was a lie. My best friend'swedding would have gone down in flames if my other best friend and I did not set up the tables, do the cake, set up the foyer. We even had to set up chairs ourselves. Ten minutes before the ceremony myself and the best man were setting up chairs. The table linens were the wrong color. I could go on for days. It was sad, very very very very very very sad. I would not recommend this place to anyone that has a party for more than five individuals. The cook/owner was very unprofessional and really turned the brides day into in her words "the worst day of her life". We had our grandsons birthday party there yesterday. Unfortunately when our family got there in the morning to prepare for the party the place was a mess from the reception the night before. We were told there would be 12 tables and there were not 12 tables. Just random tables were spread around the room. Family had to bring their own vacuum cleaner to clean up. Family had to go and rent chairs and tables at a place in Willimantic , Ct. The location was beautiful and party was a success , no thanks to the rude and unprofessional owner . read more

The worst meal I have ever had in the state of CT. Salmon entrée so over cooked it was as hard as a shoe sole, taste-free frozen vegetables. The facility is severely understaffed also, Service started an hour late and it got worse as time went by. We left at 1030 pm, I think we would still have been there at midnight. This will negatively impact the revenue the charity that hired the venue will be able to raise for its cause for several years. I would seek damages in court. read more

At a birthday celebration there for a 92 year old friend. Very disorganized. Food was cold or barely warm, the rolls were so tough they were more like beef jerky. Would never recommend this venue. On a single positive note the dessert was delicious. read more

All I can say is that I wish my family had read the reviews posted here by several individuals. I cannot express how deeply disappointed our family was at the extremely poor quality food and service we received for the luncheon after my grandfather's funeral. The facility was grossly underprepared for our event in every way. I am certain that they were told to anticipate 50-100 people before the event and then 50-75 people that morning (funerals can be hard to gauge, but I know that they got a heads up from the funeral home before the event). We arrived to a poorly decorated banquet hall. In fact, I thought that maybe they thought we were too early and were still setting up. There were not enough chairs and the place was not set up in a way that was conducive to people interacting with each other. Appetizers, which were paltry, were placed at the far end of the hall, away from the tables and seemed out of place. Never the less, they were lousy. We quickly realized that there was not going to be enough seating and begged staff for more seating. This never really improved until we took matters into our own hands and brought over tables and scrounged for chairs. My children, husband, and I never had places to sit (we needed to make sure that our guests could sit instead). They were grossly understaffed. We had 1 bartender and 1 unapologetic waiter for our entire group, which was about 80 people. This meant that aside from nobody managing the seating and logistical changes, there was no one to tend to the guests. Our guests were lucky if they got some water, which also was not placed at the tables (e.g. no water pitchers for guests to refill). Was it poor planning or did it drive everyone to the bar so they could pay for watered down soda and drinks? The cola was amber brown at best. I am not joking here - you better ask for a taste test of the Tito's vodka they push on you and demand a sealed bottle. Just stick with wine if you can. I could go on for a long time about this place.....Next, the soup came out piece meal and was served in glasses! At one point, while at least the other half of the guests were waiting for soups from glasses, I saw the lone waiter pull out boxes of glasses from under the bar - I guess to serve more soup!!! What organization is that??? I really hope that they washed them before pouring in the soup. The appetizers, which were also paltry, were horrible. Who burns kielbasa and can be stingy with it when it is SO cheap and easy to cook. My aunt had to go around to the tables serving it so that guests could get their single piece to keep them going until the the main course. My father aptly stated that he would get better food at a high school cafeteria and I totally agree. In fact, I did have ziti recently at my children's cafeteria and it WAS better. The meatballs, which ran out, were not homemade. The dessert cakes were not high quality. Good thing it is hard to screw up ice cream. We had guests leave out of respect for the family (because there was no where to sit) and the ones who remain deserve some sort of medal for putting up with a lousy meal and prolonged service. In the end, what bothered and still bothers me the most, was the callousness in which the management dealt with our event given that it was a funeral luncheon. Our family was exhausted from being in hospice to then immediately shifting to a wake and funeral. We needed an opportunity to sit and be fed, to just relax together before our lives resumed back to normal. The poor preparation and lack of execution of the event did not allow us to relax and memorialize my grandfather. Even the microphone did not work properly. The meal was served so haphazardly (and we were so preoccupied with tending to our guests), that there was clear moment for us to say a few words while our guests were happily eating. It was such a disaster. They discounted my family 5 people, which was a total joke, because those 5 people probably did not get a seat and did not have an enjoyable meal. They could some how blame it on us, but I fail to accept that. I am certain that my aunt was clear about what was needed and our experience was consistent with others posted here on Yelp. I would really hesitate to hold any event at this place and would seriously ask to talk directly to the person who gave it 5 stars (I worry that it was planted) because our experience was like Rebecca O.'s. Please - make sure you get everything in writing - from the number of staff to assist to the number of seats they are going to put out to the exact food you want. Buyer beware! read more
