On 11/25 at 2 p.m., I was dispatched to winch out a vehicle that had crossed onto a company's…read moreproperty and become stuck in mud where a water line had recently been repaired. I finished my current call and arrived on-site at 3 p.m. The customer was waiting with the business owner. I greeted both of them and went over the situation. The customer was very humble and apologetic, fully taking responsibility for the mistake. The business owner then told me that when I winched the truck out, he didn't want any mud on his concrete. I explained that I would not be driving onto the grass/mud and would only be winching from the concrete, so I wouldn't be tracking any mud onto it. However, I also let him know that the customer's truck would likely drag mud onto the concrete when he drove away. At that point, the business owner told me that I would need to load the customer's truck onto my bed and tow it off the property so that no mud touched his concrete. I told him I was only authorized and paid to perform a winch-out, nothing more. He then told me that if I wasn't going to do what he said, I needed to leave his property. I replied that the only way I could remove the vehicle was by completing the winch-out from his side. He then approached me aggressively. I stood my ground while we exchanged words, and then I left that side of the property and attempted to access the truck from the other side. From there, I was unable to winch the customer's vehicle because it was sunk about half a rim deep in mud and pressed against the concrete foundation. Edmond PD arrived shortly after. As they pulled up, I received a call from my boss saying that the business owner had reported that I spit on him and physically assaulted him. I was shocked. I told my boss that not only did I not do that -- I would never do something that could jeopardize my family's security. Right after I hung up, the officer approached me and told me he had read the dispatch notes. He said the man reported to dispatch that I assaulted him and spit on him. However, when speaking to the officer in person, the man changed his story and claimed that spit "hit him" while I we exchanged words. I explained to the officer that this would not have happened had the man not walked directly into my face yelling at me. The business owner then told the officer, "I didn't know what to do. It was just little old me and this big Black man." If I were truly such a threat, he wouldn't have approached me so aggressively in the first place. The truth is that he became aggressive with me, and I simply stood my ground. He stepped into my personal space yelling, and when I didn't back down, he became angry. He then made a false police report claiming I assaulted him, clearly hoping I would be arrested. After that, he called my job, dragged my name through the mud, told my boss he wanted me sent to jail, and demanded I be fired. All I do is work hard and go home to my family. Today, I almost didn't make it home because I came in to work on my day off. This situation was stressful, unnecessary, and deeply unfair. My wife is 6 months pregnant and has preeclampsia. I had to spend most of my night monitoring her blood pressure and making sure we didn't need to go the ER......No one should be treated this way for simply trying to do their job....

SCAMMERS! Update: 3-12-25 They also replaced the driver's window regulator and both half shafts,…read morethe regulator was NOT Subaru or are the axles. The axles are the cheapest ones you can buy. All the parts replaced by them are supposed to be Subaru. I have yet to find one part that is OEM. They charged my dad $380 just for the regulator and the shop put in a $100 NAPA part instead. That $380 does not include labor. Original post: 2-1-25: My father hired this shop to change the timing belt on his 2011 Subaru Outback 2.5, also the timing belt idlers, tensioner and water pump. They always ask my father if he wants Subaru OEM parts. And my father always says yes, he wants Subaru OEM factory parts. My father has used this shop for years and years. Fast forward to August 2024. The timing belt is still within Subaru maintenance interval of 105 months or105,000 miles, whichever comes first. My 10-year-old son and I used my dad's Subaru outback to go on a long awaited and anticipated vacation to Louisiana because my son wanted to see the National World War II Museum. We got to McAllister Oklahoma and the timing belt broke. There we are my 10-year-old son and I standing on the side of a Turnpike with people going literally 95 miles an hour right past us. It was August and it was like 102°. It took over an hour for a tow truck to get there, and we were out of water at that point. It was quite a dire situation. And of course, it bent some valves when the belt broke. So, we tow the car home to OKC. Our trip was done at that point. I pulled the heads off of it and perform a valve job. I would have never blamed the shop for this, and I didn't until I pulled the old broken timing belt out, it was not a Subaru timing belt. It was a crappy old gates belt. So, I put the heads back on and noticed some hydraulic fluid on the tensioner, which means it was bad. No big deal the mechanics at the shop didn't make the tensioner. BUT the tensioner has a manufacture date stamp on it of September 2010. So, it is the original tensioner that was never changed and that's what caused the belt to fail and it being a crappy Gates belt, not the Subaru belt my father was told was put on there, none of the idlers or the water pump was changed either. But my father was charged for all this. The shop basically threw a gates belt on it and sent my father on his way. Chris said he ordered everything in a kit, but then why was there a gates belt? Also, Subaru DOES NOT sell timing belt kits. On the receipt it shows a water pump, and the belt kit separately charged. When confronted about it he couldn't explain why there was a gates belt on it because it was eight years ago. He kept blaming time and his memory and not that he never changed the parts. Then he told me to leave. He then called my 81-year-old father and said God knows what. He put my father in a panic. Thats why I came up to his shop and not my father. You would think if Chris could bring up the work receipt on his computer as fast as he did, he could bring up a receipt of when he purchased the parts from his suppler and showed it to me. It's because it doesn't exist. The fact of the matter is nothing was changed except for the timing belt. Oh yeah, he did actually change the thermostat, but it was the wrong one. He put in a 170° not the required 190° and again, not a Subaru part. No other components changed. This caused the belt to fail. This cost us a couple thousand dollars and countless hours dealing with his negligence. He has done other work on the car that is now questionable. He's changed the front axles in it, and they are definitely not Subaru axles. Less than a year old and the boots are already cracking. I was a Maintenace supervisor in the Navy and my job was to make sure people did their work and the bolts on this water pump had never been touched. A good mechanic will put your old parts in a box and give them to you. I would have not even contacted him if all the components he said he changed had been changed. Then it would not have been his fault that the belt broke. But this is all his fault.

Travis was my service advisor and he took great care of me. He was kind, friendly, and helpful. He treated me like a valued customer even though this was my first visit to this dealership. The dealership was very busy with other cars but amazingly, I was taken care of within 45 minutes and I was back on my way. They are very efficient and very customer service oriented. I am only out in Oklahoma for a few months, but I will definitely see Travis if I need additional service while I am in town. He was so easy to work with, and they topped off my fluids at no charge. I recently moved to Mustang, Oklahoma from Las Vegas , Nevada for early retirement. My son…read moresuggested Fowler Toyota for Service and we dropped off my 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser for oil change , other services , and inspection. Ricky Toumbs was my Service Advisor and he was very nice and informative. He contacted me about other repairs and services that were recommended and sent me a form to check off what I wanted done and what I didn't want to do at this time with prices for each item. It's not cheap getting things done at the dealership , but Ricky gave me a Military Discount and good price for the items I had repaired or serviced. I went to a 4 wheel drive service shop in Las Vegas before I left that was highly recommended and had good reviews. Well turns out they broke a bolt from my skid plate and others were missing and didn't tell me and I only had one bolt holding it on for my drive from Vegas to Oklahoma with my SUV loaded and a hitch carrier mounted on my rear bumper with a heavy box on it. If that one bolt would've came off while I was driving 70mph down the highway I most likely would've crashed and been injured or killed ! Unbelievable ! So , those thread holes had to be rethreaded and one broken bolt in frame had to be drilled out and rethreaded. Synthetic Oil Change , PCV Valve replaced , 4 wheel alignment , 4 wheel drive service ( change gear oil for front and rear differential , transaxles , and transfer cases ) , rear brakes and rotors , after Taxes and Discount came out to $1001.00 . I was figuring about $1,400. Yes an expensive trip to the dealer , but I do recommend seeing Ricky at Fowler Toyota. My son had already told me about some bad shops in the area so it's good to know someone who already knows about those places. I'll be back in the Spring for a Tuneup.
