Surprised by some of the poor reviews as we had a pleasant experience at Dean's. Atmosphere: - Typical trendy coffee shop with brick exposed walls and lots of fun signs throughout the shop. - There's not a ton of seating but certainly enough that you can sit and enjoy your coffee if you so choose. Coffee: - We ordered a lavender iced latte and a fall sugar latte. The lavender latte was perfect; not too sweet and the right balance of all ingredients. The sugar latte was also well balanced and not overly sweet. We enjoyed our drinks. Service: - The barista was friendly and provided recommendations of the fall line up. There are few quality coffee houses anymore. I used to frequent Damien & Sinclair in downtown Nyack. It closed too after a good run. I've spoken to the owner who used to visit the defunct wine bar. The cappuccino was legit and the pastries above average. We need more spaces like this in Rockland Co. Thanks Dean's Coffee. One more thing, I hope your hours have expanded since the pandemic. Dean's is a cozy coffee shop with seating space to plant yourself and work, or to sit with friends. They have yummy homemade pastries and the owner also hand-makes a pretty good selection of vegan/GF treats. My husband always gets the cortado, and I like the iced lavender latte with oat milk. The staff is friendly and we just love this place so much as our "spot," we used to live right down the street but now we'll drive 30 minutes just to spend an afternoon here! It can get a little crowded but if you need a spot to sit it'll usually open up soon. read more

Been tired of the commercial brand of Starbucks and other commercial companies, so found Dean's coffee through yelp after hitting a local comic book store by the Pearl River train station. Walked up the block and my first visit, I was hooked. Coffee is excellent and drinks are hand crafted and not rushed out like a Starbucks assembly line. They also bake fresh muffins, cakes, and scones and are very good. Atmosphere is also very warm and service is very friendly. Can sit down relax, read a book or comic and just have some good coffee. Only issue is they are open only till 4pm but would never let that effect my rating. Sometimes reduced hours are better. read more

This was my boyfriend and I's first time at Deans and the service and coffee was GREAT! I got an iced dirty chai, he got a creme brûlée iced latte. We got a CC cookie and a delicious slice of blueberry/lemon pound cake. The young girl behind the counter was so kind and helpful as it was our first time there with so many great options to choose from. When back in the area we will definitely be returning! read more

The service here is great with very personable staff who always makes time for a little small talk with me and other customer that frequent the shop. Hit or miss. This place has good coffee when the dude is here, but otherwise it's awful. They're generally rude here. You'll have to stare at the back of the chick who works here while she washes dishes bc she's not interested in selling you coffee until she finishes what she's doing. Adorable small coffee shop tucked into Downtown Pearl River. Got the Nutty Irishwoman and it was so delicious. Also got a a muffin and it was very fresh. Mix of people sitting in the store, everyone from high school students doing homework to workers during their lunch hour. New gem in PR and so glad to have stumbled across it. read more

I have been a fan of this family-owned business since they opened. Pearl River needed a quality coffee shop because the Art Cafe in Nyack is played out and I appreciate having a spot close to home. The coffee here tastes like plastic. It was good the first time, but ever since then it's been consistently bad.The service is quite disappointing. Had a weird encounter with the male barista on a Tuesday (I sure hope he was not the owner), which I take to be creepy and flirty. Extremely disappointed today after going here for a take out coffee. All the customers were masked and following the safety rules that all businesses must follow. It was the barista that was the problem. I was with my friend who actually knows him and is a frequent customer. When she asked him to pull his mask up over his nose he looked at us and said "seriously"? To which I replied. "Yes I do want you to wear your mask". He pulled his mask up but it slipped down again almost immediately. My friend asked him again and he just looked at us like we were crazy. I paid (and of course did not leave a tip). When my friend for the third time advised him to wear his mask properly before we left and he once again just gave us attitude. I have been here many times and have enjoyed chatting with this young man every time. His attitude toward us today because we just want him to follow the stores (and states) own safety regulations was shocking. I will not go to this establishment again. read more

I only stumbled upon it after being in Pearl River, randomly saw the 5 star reviews on Google and was very surprised there wasn't any on Yelp! My family and I stopped by and had some great cold brew and pastries. We will definitely be back, local coffee shops are SO much better than the chains. I can't believe out of all the places in Pearl River this establishment got such a nasty review. I've never seen anybody be so kind and welcoming and generous in running a business. Especially being alone all day. Their coffee is the best, their pastries are from one of the best bakeries around and on top of that you can find amazing homemade cakes and goodies. Did I mention that they're the some of the nicest, most humble people I've ever come across in any kind of establishment. For god sakes I feel safer with my kids in there than anywhere else.
